“Exceeded expectations and the kids pool is a winner”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

If you have a family with young children, be warned – they will not want to step out of this resort once you arrive.
Noosa itself is a great place – full of good food, good nature and good accommodation options.
BUT being the January school holidays, Noosa Beach was so full it reminded me of Bondi Beach in Sydney. Hastings St itself was like a car park!
RACV resort is about 5 minutes away by car so the location of the resort gave us some respite from the crowds on Hastings St.
We were hoping for a more relaxing holiday so the resort itself was the best aspect of our holiday in Noosa.
We booked a ground level 3 bedroom apartment and were happy that it was close to the pool because the resort itself is huge. Some villas may be well away from the pool so make sure you request a room close to the pool if you have kids.
Since we had a couple of elderly guests and young children, we opted for the apartment instead of the villas because the apartments did not have any stairs.
It was holiday season and yes, kids were everywhere but we were surprised that the apartment was quiet and all you can hear are a few birds in the morning.
We were spoilt with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and enough space for the kids to play hide and seek (which they did!)
Beds were comfy and kitchen large enough to cook up a storm.
The apartment was nicely laid out with simple but practical furnishings-ideal for young families.
Parking was not really a problem whilst we were there as they had ample parking in the underground parking if you cannot find a spot near your apartment. Villas have their own parking.
Being in QLD, you would expect ants to be around. One of the rooms had many ants crawling up and down the window sill in one of the bedrooms.
We called housekeeping 3 times to get rid of the ants as there were so many of them. The fourth time, they just left the spray with us.
Also, the clothes drier was faulty and they said they would fix it during our stay. This was not done but it was not a big deal as the weather was perfect and we could hang our clothes outside.
Now to the pool. The kids could not get enough of it and we were there for most of each day. It was busy but it was still big enough for all to enjoy. The kids pool area is fantastic and we were lucky that most people were very civil and did not hog all the deck chairs to themselves. The waterslides were very popular as was the beach area in the large pool.
Beach towels were provided so no need to bring your own.
The bar area is close to the pool so you can sit back while the kids enjoyed themselves.
We also dined at the bar one day for lunch and although service was a bit slow, the pizzas we ordered were nice although a bit pricey for what you get.
We did not dine at the restaurant but they had a 3 course special for $40 which I thought was good value.
We booked a BBQ for a night which was $20. Understand that it may not be practical for each apartment to have a BBQ, but charging to use them was a bit surprising.
The staff at the front desk are mostly friendly depending on who is on duty. They are helpful with local attractions and on check in, the man was helpful in providing information about the resort.
Maintenance staff were friendly and helpful (except the dryer maintenance person).
Don’t expect service similar to a 5 star resort in the main cities however, – the service here is more laid back and casual. (which we like)
I wish there is a similar resort in NSW because in our case, we did not explore much of Noosa because the resort is so good! Well done RACV on running such a fantastic resort.

Dear AustTrail,

Thank you for taking the time to complete such a comprehensive review. I am pleased that we exceeded your expectations and you had a great stay. I apologise that the issue with your dryer was not resolved and have already investigated and discussed with my Maintenance Manager to avoid a repeat. I was thrilled that your family enjoyed our new 2nd heated pool, water slides, playground and splash park. After 3 months of construction it has been very rewarding to see how popular our new facilities have been with both kids and adults.

We hope to welcome you back again one day.

We had a great stay at the RACV a few weeks ago. We stayed in a 3 bed villa (2 couples, 3 kids) which was spacious, immaculately clean and had everything a family needs. The main reason for my review is to compliment that amazing service from ALL the staff at the RACV. Nothing was too much trouble, all staff were friendly, engaging and professional (Erica and Corey were amazing!) We will definitely return and have already recommended the RACV to our friends. Thank you!

Whilst in Noosa, we stayed in a spacious 1 bedroom apartment for our Honeymoon, which was clean and comfortable. Resort staff were professional, friendly, with great knowledge about the local area, recommending spots and helping us to explore the area.
The resort has a lovely pool area, bar, restaurant, spa, tennis court and bikes for hire, which was perfect for a lazy day or to return to, after a day out exploring the sunshine coast.
We will be recommending this resort to friends and family visiting the area in the future.

We have just returned from our week long stay at the RACV Noosa resort. We chose to stay at the resort as a last minute holiday with our 5 children for some much deserved R&R.

We were completely thrilled upon arrival. The staff were all incredibly friendly. The resort itself is lovely. Our room was beyond our expectations and comfortably slept all 7 of us. We were situated in a 3 bedroom lagoon suite with our own plunge pool which was beautifully fitted out. My bed was incredibly comfortable, I was pleasantly surprised and slept like a baby every night. The Villa was extremely clean (I am very fussy usually :) ) and had everything we needed for a happy stay.

The main pool in the resort was great. It did get rather busy at times, but hey its a family friendly resort so to be expected. The staff around the pool were so nice, great service and always with a smile on their faces.

We loved the pizzas from the pizza bar, absolutely sensational. The main restaurant was also fantastic and we enjoyed a meal there which we were also very pleasantly surprised with. Service was fantastic.

The breakfast was really good too, and had almost everything needed to start the day. We alternated between eating in our room and the buffet during our stay which suited us perfectly.

The drive to Hastings street only takes a few short minuted by car also so you are not limited at all. There are some local shops within walking distance of the hotel, and if you are feeling particularly energetic you could probably also walk to hastings street in about 25 minutes. I am surprised by other reviewers remarks regarding it being far away from everything, clearly when making a booking you would look at where the resort is located, its not rocket science. we liked that it was away from the hustle and bustle of Hastings Street though. The resort also offers a shuttle bus that departs 2 hourly, but given that we had a car we didn't really need it.

My only concern (from a mother of a 1 year old and a just turned 3 year old), is that our pool Villa did not have suitable locks on the sliding doors that led out to the lagoon area. All the door locks were so easy to open, and we were constantly concerned that on would sneak out of our room and wander straight into the lagoon. We had a group of beautiful ducks that visited us every day which posed as bait for my little ones, as they constantly wanted to go out and play with them. They were adorable, and added to the beauty of our Villa.
As the plunge pool area was fully fenced we were not concerned about their safety in that regard, but why the resort did not extend the fencing for a further few metres to protect against the lagoon is beyond me. If this is not an option, then child safety locks are a must for these villas (we were in room 68/69.

Overall we loved the resort, kids had a blast, we will definately be back. The resort is perfect for families, and large families are beautifully catered for. We always find it difficult to find suitable accommodation, but this resort was brilliant for us. Thank you so much RACV, you have done a great job. And hats off to your gorgeous staff, it was very obvious that you all enjoy what you do and where you work.

Room Tip: If you have very young kids, do not stay in a room that backs onto the lagoon.

Dear Ainsle007,

It was fantastic reading your review and your appreciation of the many different areas of our resort. All staff will be thrilled to read your recognition of their efforts – they are a wonderful group of people and I am lucky to work with them every day and am very proud of them.

Thanks for your feedback about putting in child safety locks on the apartments that back on to the lagoons – I will look into this.

Thanks again and we look forward to welcoming you again.

Our arrival was dealt with very unprofessionally by the attendant on reception (I won't publish her name) - she set the tone for the duration of the vacation, 2weeks. If you want assistance, major or minor, do not approach the female reception staff. OK it was a busy time of the year, but I have taken that into consideration. Training staff to be courteous & helpful, rather than obstructive, is a must. Male staff were not a problem. We enjoyed our accommodation, 3b/room 3/bathroom apartments, perfect for our family of six. The pool is not large enough to accommodate the large influx of residents but the children's pool & slides are winners. Poolside furniture is hunted down early and aggressive people prepared to contest the use of it. The pizza area is also too small & contested - be prepared to be disappointed if you are unable to get a table if you arrive a little late. We had a problem with the shower pressure in one of the b/rooms - it was not repaired properly. I would recommend this property for families.

Room Tip: Do not stay in apartments too close to the entrance because of the constant speed bump noise.

Dear BethRivertonNZ,

Thanks for your review. I am pleased you found your 3 bedroom apartment perfect for your family. I was surprised and naturally disappointed with your comments about some of our staff. Our friendly and helpful staff is typically what we are known for and is often commented on this forum so I would appreciate if you could contact me directly at the resort to discuss and provide more specific details.

We will also be receiving any day another 40 pool lounges which will help during busy times when demand is high. It is great you enjoyed our new 2nd heated pool, 2 water slides and splash park.

Thanks for recommending the resort to others and we hope to welcome you back again.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom precinct villa - it was spacious, clean and very very comfortable. All the staff we dealt with from initially booking to checkout were professional and friendly, even when under the pump. The new kids pool area is fabulous and caters for kids of all ages. Even during school holidays, when the resort was pretty much fully booked, we never felt overcrowded (compared to Hastings St which was like a carpark). Food and service at Arcuri was excellent and the meals from Dazza's were also great. The resort is close to the main tourist strips of Noosa, but is not on top of them so is a bit more peaceful. There is a shuttle bus to Hastings St but I'd definitely recommend having a car To go anywhere else - handy if you want to head to the river or other surrounding attractions/beaches or if you have an apartment/villa and want to self cater (Coles and a Super IGA are a short drive away). Kids Club is limited but it looks like the website has just been updated to reflect the age of kids who can attend - for those like us with a child under 4 we used a local nanny service whose details we got through the resort and that worked well. Overall a great resort - we'll definitely be back.

Dear Anonymou S,

Thanks for your review. I am pleased you enjoyed your Villa and in particular our new heated pool, water slides and water spray park - it has been a great success since opened before Christmas. Our Food & Beverage team will also appreciate your compliments about our bar ('Dazza's') and restaurant ('Arcuri') food and service.

It is fantastic you will be back one day and I wish your family all the very best for the remainder of the year.

RACV snapped up this resort from the receivers for half the cost the developers paid to build it, according to the manager. The quality of the apartments is first-rate. They are spacious, stylish and well equipped, and only a few years old. The landscaping is pleasing. The outlook onto the lagoon (aka swamp) was restful, and we had periodic visits from ducks and other wading birds, until they worked out that we weren't going to feed them (you shouldn't). Staff were brisk and cheery. The major downside is the location, which is not close to any of the main focal points of Noosa. There is nowhere to take a leisurely walk to. There is a free shuttle bus, but it only runs once an hour. The common areas, such as the bar, are relatively small and noisy in peak periods. Small children abound in the pool, so it may not suit the older traveler seeking to get away from it all. But a good option for families unless you want to be close to the action.

Dear MichaelTMel,

Thank you for your review. I am pleased that you found the quality of the apartments and the surrounds first rate. I agree that the resort did have plenty of kids around during your stay (early January), typical of most resorts during this time. With our heated lagoon pool, Day Spa, buffet breakfast, 5 star dining in Arcuri restaurant and bigger than usual Suites, I actually think the resort is perfect for older travellers. However, for couples that are looking for some time away with minimal children around (at RACV Noosa or any resort) I would suggest booking outside of school holidays.

It was also lovely to meet your family and show you around our luxury Enclave Villas. I wish your youngest all the best with his final year of schooling.

I hope to meet you again if you get the chance for a return visit.
