If you have a family with young children, be warned – they will not want to step out of this resort once you arrive.
Noosa itself is a great place – full of good food, good nature and good accommodation options.
BUT being the January school holidays, Noosa Beach was so full it reminded me of Bondi Beach in Sydney. Hastings St itself was like a car park!
RACV resort is about 5 minutes away by car so the location of the resort gave us some respite from the crowds on Hastings St.
We were hoping for a more relaxing holiday so the resort itself was the best aspect of our holiday in Noosa.
We booked a ground level 3 bedroom apartment and were happy that it was close to the pool because the resort itself is huge. Some villas may be well away from the pool so make sure you request a room close to the pool if you have kids.
Since we had a couple of elderly guests and young children, we opted for the apartment instead of the villas because the apartments did not have any stairs.
It was holiday season and yes, kids were everywhere but we were surprised that the apartment was quiet and all you can hear are a few birds in the morning.
We were spoilt with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and enough space for the kids to play hide and seek (which they did!)
Beds were comfy and kitchen large enough to cook up a storm.
The apartment was nicely laid out with simple but practical furnishings-ideal for young families.
Parking was not really a problem whilst we were there as they had ample parking in the underground parking if you cannot find a spot near your apartment. Villas have their own parking.
Being in QLD, you would expect ants to be around. One of the rooms had many ants crawling up and down the window sill in one of the bedrooms.
We called housekeeping 3 times to get rid of the ants as there were so many of them. The fourth time, they just left the spray with us.
Also, the clothes drier was faulty and they said they would fix it during our stay. This was not done but it was not a big deal as the weather was perfect and we could hang our clothes outside.
Now to the pool. The kids could not get enough of it and we were there for most of each day. It was busy but it was still big enough for all to enjoy. The kids pool area is fantastic and we were lucky that most people were very civil and did not hog all the deck chairs to themselves. The waterslides were very popular as was the beach area in the large pool.
Beach towels were provided so no need to bring your own.
The bar area is close to the pool so you can sit back while the kids enjoyed themselves.
We also dined at the bar one day for lunch and although service was a bit slow, the pizzas we ordered were nice although a bit pricey for what you get.
We did not dine at the restaurant but they had a 3 course special for $40 which I thought was good value.
We booked a BBQ for a night which was $20. Understand that it may not be practical for each apartment to have a BBQ, but charging to use them was a bit surprising.
The staff at the front desk are mostly friendly depending on who is on duty. They are helpful with local attractions and on check in, the man was helpful in providing information about the resort.
Maintenance staff were friendly and helpful (except the dryer maintenance person).
Don’t expect service similar to a 5 star resort in the main cities however, – the service here is more laid back and casual. (which we like)
I wish there is a similar resort in NSW because in our case, we did not explore much of Noosa because the resort is so good! Well done RACV on running such a fantastic resort.
