The kitchen is enough big and the view from the terrasse is really really nice.
I had a 4-bed-romm, which was really small and we didn't had enough place for our baggage. On the other side they have a big and nice living room and on the outside there is a pingpong-table.
Only one thing was not teally nice, the coles is quite far away from tge hostel..

When I stayed here some guy brought a girl back to his room late at night and woke everyone up. Then later he done the toilet in the room and splashed all over the floor. The room stunk so bad. Staff didn't seem to care and would not give refund.
Hostel had a restaurant but at $19 a meal was hardly ideal for budget backpackers.
The hostel didn't wash all the bed linen. Only the sheet was washed and not the warmer blanket.

Good: close to the beach
Possible to lend surfboard
Free baggage room

Bad:
No outlets in the cabins
No free wifi
No connection to wifi in the cabins
Inadequate kitchen. It's too small.
The walls are very thin so you could hear the nightclub, the birds and whatnot.

Halse Lodge is located near the Main Beach and the shuttle bus will pick you up from Noosa Junction which is the main bus interchange.

The hostel is a National Trust building so has a lot of character. There is a bar which locals use, a pool table, big lounge area, table tennis table and all of the usual amenities.

The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of storage space but the down point here is that the area to sit and eat your food is out on a balcony. So I found that my food would go cold quickly as it was outside.

There are plenty of shops and a massive Coles nearby so it's good for self-catering.

The rooms are small but adequate in size. No lockers in the rooms which I would have preferred. Also some rooms didn't have a plug socket - due to National Trust restrictions on changing the building. The bunkbeds were very comfortable and didn't shake very much - massive bonus!

My weekly internet card that I bought in Byron Bay YHA didn't work here which was annoying and a waste of money. But their internet is cheap, 1 hour for 1 dollar, 4 hours for 2 dollars.

They serve food from the bar which sounded amazing and was priced well, but I didn't get around to trying it.

You get a free glass of wine at the welcome meeting on the first night - nice touch.

The staff were friendly and when I had a problem with some people in my dorm they went above and beyond what was needed to help us. I even returned from a day trip to find a chocolate bar on my pillow from the reception staff - this was so lovely.

My only suggestion would be to put up a notice in reception on how to contact staff at night if there was a problem. I'm sure something was mentioned at the welcome meeting but I had forgotten what they said at 4am.

Oh and make sure you have some earplugs. The wooden floors and steps and balcony area means that noise may well keep you awake if you're not prepared. There are signs around to keep the noise down but not everyone is considerate.

I would stay here again if I was to return to Noosa.

We spent 3 brilliant days at Halse Lodge and couldn't recommend it enough. We were personally welcomed by Sarah who made us feel really special. Sarah and the rest of her staff couldn't have been more helpful. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere throughout. The restaurant offered a good selection of delicious meals, all at reasonable prices with inside and outside eating areas and a bar. Halse Lodge is a listed building and is close to the National Park at the end of Hastings Street and only 5 minutes from the white sandy beach. The staff are also happy to arrange tours to Fraser Island which is a must. All in all a great place & area to stay. We will be back!

We visited this hostel with our campervan for a few days. Very friendly and helping crew, not always the smartest, since half of them are backpackers themselves, but they are always trying to help. Kitchen and toilets are being cleaned very regularly. The hostel also has a restaurant with good means for proper prices. (We can recommend the garlic/pesto pizza bread if you are in for a small bite). To point out something negative, the hostel is also kind of a local bar which attracts a lot of drunk Young kids in the weekends. Overall, we had a great stay in this hostel!!

We loved our stay at the lovely and very friendly Halse Lodge! The location is superb, 5 minutes away from the beach and close to the national park. The rooms are fairly spacious and very clean. The building is old so don't expect absolute luxury! Some rooms don't have power points, but the staff at reception are more than happy to charge stuff for you. They have a welcome meeting every evening, so its incredibly easy to get to know people. The bar is really friendly and has good food. Absolutely perfect place for backpackers and anyone wanting to meet new people and have a good time! Probably our favourite place we stayed in 3 weeks in oz!
