Stayed here for the first time back in April 2013, loved it then. Was a great chilled out place, everyone there was so welcoming and friendly, and all the staff were brilliant.

Having stayed before when i was travelling on my own, i found it a great place with lots of helpful staff with great knowledge of the area... When i came back last month the whole atmosphere of the place is very different.

The new backpacker staff are not suited to the type of hostel it is supposed to be. The guy who checked us in was nice enough, but didn't speak to us the whole time on the shuttle bus, gave us no information about the hostel and basically gave the impression he'd rather be off with the other staff.

We stayed in a 4 bed room which was in the block which the staff seemed to use as their common room/kitchen. While we were there, the rule on drinking was broken every night by the staff, making loud noise right outside our room.

Generally i don't ever bother leaving reviews, just feel that the manager needs to address this, as it could be a great hostel and i have enjoyed staying there previously.

Room Tip: Don't have the one where the staff use the kitchen/living room as their personal pizza restauran...

5 Share room is too small, not enough plugs in rooms, kitchen not very well equipped, guests exchange equipment between 'houses'. There are different rooms in each house with one kitchen and bathroom. Especially the bathroom was not enough for ten persons in the house, you have to wait. Free wifi everywhere. Nice outside lounge area with hammocks, fatboys, table tennis and a tiny pool, not worth it. The hostel is located very close to Sunshine Beach, which is ways prettier and nicer and less, less crowded than Main Beach. Hostel runs a lot of shuttles to get into the city to go shopping. Prices to high compared to prices and service in North Queensland but Noosa itself makes it a great stay!

In short, the owners attitude and the lack of enforcement of their own rules...lets the place down. Shame, as our first impressions of the hostel were positive. There was a ridiculous amount of noise and swearing in the garden area, from a couple of disrespectful guests until 4am - when we mentioned this to the manager in the morning, the response was very defensive, implying that it was a false claim. I've never given a bad review or asked for my money back, before.

We stayed in a 5 bed dorm for 3 nights. The layout at Dolphins is homely due to the fact that it is split into different apartments. This also meant that there was usually some kitchen space. There was one bathroom between ten people which would have been fine if the toilet was separate! But this was generally ok. The dorm room I feel was a bit too small for five people and there was minimal space for people's bags. On our second and third night the air con didn't come on properly and the room was really very warm. The location wasn't the best in Noosa - nearby sunshine beach was lovely but the main beach was a bit of a drive away and the hostel really could have provided more shuttle buses to the beach. An evening shuttle bus for people who wanted to have dinner out could have been a nice touch too as taxis around there are not cheap and local buses to the hostel stop at 18.30! Staff at the hostel were really nice and helpful, and Chris arranged boat hire for us and took us there which was great. Evenings at the hostel were nice - sociable and relaxed. There is supposedly an 8pm drinking curfew and 10pm noise curfew, but this seemed to be a bit selective (i.e. even staff and managers didn't adhere to it) and we were kept awake by music until around 1am on our last night!

Room Tip: Try to get one with a window away from the main courtyard so you are not kept awake!

Stayed at the Dolphins Beach House for one night with a friend when travelling to Noosa. Price seemed very reasonable - $40 per person, for a twin room and shared bathroom. Male staff member was very helpful and friendly on check in. However, when we got to our 'room' (more like a wooden cabin), there was only a double bed, even though we had requested a twin, not a double. Fortunately there was a pull out chair bed which meant there were two beds, but you couldn't open the cabin door to get outside when the chair bed was pulled out (highly annoying). Premises and shared areas were very clean which was good. Bathroom was really strange and a let down. There was a HUGE glass window (lovely if you like natural light), however there was NO shower curtain, no window blind, and people could quite easily have walked down the side of the bathroom for front row seats. It meant the bathroom experience was not an enjoyable one, and showering pretty much not an option.
That said, the room did have a ceiling fan and air conditioning, with a tv which was great. Shared areas were chilled and relaxed, and the location was ideal for getting to Sunset Beach. I'd recommend this if you want a few nights in Noosa.

Room Tip: Well, you can request a twin instead of double (and vice versa) but clearly no guarantee you'll...
