Arrived at this hotel realising we had stayed before but didn't remember the name !!
Feels fresher decor wise than I remember and our room was lovely with fantastic views. Plenty hot water comfortable bed and good selection of tea coffee etc including Whisky !
Food lovely and staff both efficient and friendly.
Great base for exploring Perthshire and enjoyed the fact my phone signal was poor - peace !

First to the many plus points - the Fortingall is a real gem of a hotel, architecturally beautiful, and with a decor and style inside that reflects this beauty, rich fabrics, deep colours and dark wood. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. After a long drive to get here, sat in the bar with a nice cold pint, everything is perfect.
So, sadly to what I feel is the only negative, the food. We stayed here in 2012, and the dining room menu then was fantastic, full of rich, delicious, well prepared dishes that were worthy of rosette standard, and matched the style of the establishment perfectly. This time? The food was OK, but in truth it was a pub style menu that was expensive for what it was - I was hoping for something more imaginative than Haddock, Fish Pie or a Beefburger (or a £26+ steak). This menu would be fine for the bar or lounge, but didn't really tally with what is still described on the website!

We stopped there with another couple for a bar lunch. We planned to have a bottle of wine but found that there wasn't a bottle for under £20! We stuck to beer and tap water. Most of us had rounds of sandwiches which looked very attractive and were enjoyable at the time, but I was very ill (sick) later that evening. The symptoms were typical of food poisoning.

We enjoyed a lovely stay shame it was just 1 night. Very friendly staff, our room was very nice and we enjoyed a tasty meal together . Just what we needed. Our breakfast set us up for our day touring the area and then on to our destination. We recommend it .

Two friends and I were booked into this hotel for one night on a nine day walk from Perth to Fort William. We arrived rather wet and with muddy boots - but this was not a problem. An immediate offer was made to dry the boots and hang wet garments in a drying area.
The bedrooms were roomy and comfortable, the bathrooms equipped with a bath supplying copious volumes of hot water. The biggest surprise was a welcome dram which I enjoyed whilst luxuriating in the hot bath.
The evening meal was of high quality as was the Sauvignon Blanc. Next morning's breakfast was everything one could wish for in readiness for another day's walking.
I cannot recommend this wonderful hotel highly enough.
