We enjoyed our stay at Olimpico very much.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms impeccably clean, the hotel sugested a lot for those who like sport activity-boche ground, ping-pong table and tennis ground, swimming pool.
The buffet breakfast was fantastic.
The location is very convenient if you want to travel to another points of interest from there and return in the same day.

If you are looking for a good quality hotel set along the beaches south of Salerno, away from the hustle and bustle of the main town, this is it! Small enough to be personal but big enough for anonymity if that’s what you prefer, the hotel is fully modernised and spotlessly clean but without the clinical feel of some bigger chain hotels. It’s set slightly back from the beach and views from the back of the hotel were as good as the front (and possibly quieter), with hills in the distance either way.

The hotel food was great and we chose half-board as we did not want the hassle of seeking out restaurants. We stayed in April and there was a fresh fish selection at the entrance to the dining room every evening. Everything was beautifully cooked. Battipaglia, home of some of the best buffalo mozzarella cheese in the world, is just up the road so look out for the mozzarella and tomato salad starter. It’s a corker – in size as well as taste! The waiting staff were also fabulous, especially with my elderly relative who had just suffered a distressing bereavement.

As I did not want to drive on this occasion, we spent the money on taxis, airport transfers and a day’s guided tour (see hotel website for offers). This was not cheap but the free shuttle bus into town at scheduled times was great, driven by the charming Gabriele who also helped collect a wheelchair from a local pharmacy. Note: If you book a driver/guide via the hotel, you may want to enlist the help of Gaetano, the manager, or his reception staff, checking your plans the night before departure. We picked two locations which were further apart than anticipated, so made for a long day. That said, do not use this comment to turn Gaetano into a fully fledged travel agent! He had the patience of a saint with emails before our arrival but does have a hotel to run! What did work well was booking a private taxi to visit the Salerno British Military Cemetery in the morning, and then taking the Travelmar ferry from Salerno later on, along the Amalfi Coast and back with afternoon tea in Positano. Again the hotel website has useful information about this kind of thing.

And so to the most important question: Would I recommend this hotel and would I go back? Answer: Definitely. It was also a good choice for someone with limited mobility as this part of the coast is well away from the cliffs and steps of the Amalfi Coast towns and yet, with short walks, you can still visit these gems by land or sea during the day.

We stayed at Hotel Olimpico for one week in April 2014 and used it as a base for several trips to the Amalfi and Cilentana coast, Capri, Naples, Salerno, Campania and Basilicata. The hotel is nicely located for trips like these, comfortable, clean and well equipped., incl. Internet connection. The staff was really attentive and friendly. Hotel shuttle bus helped navigate the surrounding cities, we also appreciated the free parking in the hotel. Dinners and breakfast in the hotel are enjoyable. Special thanks for personalized service to Antonio and Pietro in the restaurant! In April the wheather was a bit shaky and the beaches had not been cleaned yet. Some of the surrounding buildings are not well maintained. But Hotel Olimpico is beautiful, the rooms are really nice, some also with a view to the sea. In summary, Hotel Olimpico is well worth a visit and we can warmly recommend it to other guests, as well !

John communicated with the staff extensively prior to arrival in order to ensure our honeymoon stay would be absolutely fabulous. They were extremely helpful in setting up a surprise floral arrangement, fruit and champagne delivery, as well as special turn-down service in our suite with a private balcony. Upon arrival, I (Alicia) received the roses, while the fruit and champagne was waiting for us in our room, and the sheets were specially arranged. Our suite had a private balcony and a jet spa bathtub. We thoroughly enjoyed our room as it had the ease, comfort, and luxury of a private suite with a nice area for clothes and traveling gear. Every single meal we had at Hotel Olimpico was fabulous and on point. We often think of the courses there and cannot wait to experience such cuisine again. We were astounded by the freshness and flavour of every meal. All of the staff from concierge, to bar, to wait, to cleaning staff, were so friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. The driver was always on time to pick us up from a day destination to Capri and Pompeii and to have us back in time for dinner. We enjoyed our conversations with all of the staff and were and still are, so appreciative of all of the help they gave us on our honeymoon. They helped ensure that the honeymoon went smoothly, felt absolutely romantic, and wonderfully fun. Although some time has passed since our honeymoon, we think of Hotel Olimpico often and could not go without writing this very well-deserved and earned review. We cannot wait to go back to Hotel Olimpico!!! We miss it and the people so very much! One of the links below will not allow us to select the time we were there, which was June-July 2012-which just goes to show, if we had to write a review even this long after, how truly wonderful this place is!!!!

Room Tip: I definitely recommend a suite for those wanting a romantic stay. When we go back we are hoping to...

I have stayed in this hotel twice on business trips during the winter. Even though it was really quiet and most of the facilities were closed, I found the staff consistently friendly and helpful. The restaurant is not open for dinner out of season, but the one across the road had an adequate menu at a good price. The beach is a bit bleak in the winter, but the views across the bay are fantastic!

I took a walk around the grounds and could just imagine how pleasant the place would be in season, with the pool full and families having fun.

Dear Niallkc56,
Thank you for your beautiful review of our resort.

You are in fact correct that during high season, from April 1st onward, we have a full house with families, couples and even singles, enjoying our facilities and running about the grounds. The area comes to life during season with all sorts of restaurants and activities open at our resort and in all the surrounding area.
Our own superb restaurant is naturally at your disposal during this time. We thank you again for your review and hope to see you during high season when you can enjoy all the amenities our resort has to offer.

We just returned from our first trip to Italy and had begun our journey at hotel Olimpico. We enjoyed our stay there and were extremely impressed with all of their staff. Gaetano was patient and helpful, as the hotel manager, when we needed to make changes to our reservations multiple times, including the day before our arrival. Antonio and Pietro, both working in the dining room, were absolutely fantastic and were instrumental in making our stay feel very personal and special. Indeed, the whole staff was professional, friendly and very helpful.
The hotel itself has nice and very clean rooms, the view from all balconies are beautiful and the beach across the street was fantastic, especially since we were almost completely alone there, being late October. The weather was very warm though and so we enjoyed swimming and walking on the beach. The pool and other facilities are very well maintained and the restaurant was great, with very well prepared food at very decent prices. The breakfast, which was included, was the best we had during our whole trip. Each day had a slightly different offering of hot dishes, fresh fruit and vegetables, and of course every day offered fresh pastries and crepes which were absolutely delicious.
The location is a bit out of the town of Salerno, which can actually be more relaxing. The properties around are not all well maintained but the Olimpico itself was wonderful. If you are looking to visit such sites as Pompeii, Paestum, Herculaneum and Salerno, we highly recommend staying there and renting a car or using their shuttle service and public transit. Coming home to a relaxing place in the evening was priceless, and we missed this feeling in our other hotels. Should we go back to Italy, we will surely go back to the Olimpico!

We stayed at the Olimpico in May 2009 and returned this October for a much needed break. I'm a very demanding customer but I can't speak highly enough about this hotel. The staff are excellent, always friendly and helpful, and all the front of house and waiting staff speak English. They're clearly a team who've worked together for a while and really enjoy working at the hotel. Gaetano was very helpful and patient with our changes of mind about whether we needed collecting from the airport or not, and nothing was too much trouble - this is a hotel which really knows how to look after its guests. When we stayed four years ago the restaurant wasn't the best aspect of the hotel but it has got substantially better and is now excellent. I think we only had one evening meal that we didn't think was excellent. Breakfast is fantastic - either hot food like bacon, sausages, scrambled egg, or yoghurt, mozzarella, toast, pastries and cakes, fresh fruit, crepes etc. I defy anyone not to find something in the breakfast buffet that they'd like to eat. I will need to go on a diet now I'm back home :-) The pool is very well maintained and the children's play area, table tennis, tennis court, boules and garden were also very well kept and made for pleasant surroundings. The area the hotel is in varies - some parts are very run down, but this hotel is a true oasis. Don't be put off by the surrounding area - this hotel is a little gem, excellent value for money, close to the Amalfi Coast (you can see it from the balconies at the front of the hotel and there's a great view of the mountains inland from the rooms at the back), and an excellent base to explore both that coastline and places like Paestum to the south and Herculaneum, Pompeii etc to the north. Salerno is also a nice place to wander around and if you go at the right time of day it should only take 10-15 minutes to get there. We hope to go back to the Olimpico next year and thank all the staff for making our holiday so very enjoyable. The Warner family.
