“First rate beach for all purposes.”
Reviewed 10 October 2012 via mobile

It's not uninterrupted miles of fine golden sand with regular clean waves for optimum surfing but it has every other feature you could hope for in a beach. Good grey sand for castles an all kinds of play. The low rocks and pools for shipping and more. It's National Trust and an SSI with an spoilt valley and delightful old church close at the eastern end. Good big car park even if its £4. We've seen horses centering, racing rigged Give Tigers and enthusiasts doing surprisingly well with boards on small waves. Add on the great little cafe and one or other extreme of weather and you have a perfect beach experience

“Hard to find but worth it.”
Reviewed 7 September 2012

We have sailed past this beach many times and decided to pay a visit. It was worth the effort. The beach is lovely and the surrounding areas first class. It was easy to park strangely! We had taken a picnic but would have enjoyed the cafe as it was very smart (not yur usual beach side caff!) The tide was out so there were lots of rock pools for the children to enjoy.

“Rock pools”
Reviewed 1 September 2012

A delightful beach within easy driving distance of Plymouth. It's where most young children are brought for their first experience with a shrimp net messing about looking for small sea creatures in the pools. Lovely setting and views. National Trust area and car park. Great little cafe at eastern end (reviewed elsewhere on Tripadvisor) and quaint parish church of St Werburg.
