“Excellent!!!”
Reviewed 22 February 2011

We just came back after staying one week at Hotel Hinterwiesn and I can t wait to go back next year.
We arrived at almost 10pm last Sunday and I didn t believe when we saw our table all set up and had a full dinner menu, just us and our twin girls. Service war great throughout our stay. Staff was very professional, the rooms are great, big bathrooms, very clean.
The "Hausmeister" drove our girls every morning to the ski nursery and we usually walked back from the city center. Everything is very close by.
Now we have to work on loosing the kg gained during our stay. The food was outstanding, so we couldn t resist......
It s hard to find the same value at another hotel in Lech and we have seen a few...

This hotel has a feel to it you get nowhere else. The cuisine is out of this worldly good, the staff are friendly, the rooms and interior are stunning, there's a spa, it's even got its own ski lift that you can ski straight down to the town center from...

Stayed for a week of skiing/boarding. Hotel's position away from the center of Lech is actually a great advantage -- first, you can't hear the loud and distorted music played by the bars and clubs over PA, and second, you get a good night's sleep, undisturbed by partygoers. It's also right next to the Hinterwies lift, making it truly ski-in and ski-out (one of very few in Lech). Hotel itself is quite comfortable and cosy. Rooms are generously sized and are in a good state of upkeep. Baths rather than just showers are also a big "plus" for me. Fitness and sauna area is new and, while a bit small for a hotel of this size, very comfortable and clean.

Food definitely deserves a special mention. It is this very rare case when the holiday hotel chef's ambition is matched by his (or her?) skill and ability to source ingredients. Take the half-board option and don't ever bother going elsewhere for dinner. Breakfast could be more varied though, and those used to a full cooked one will be disappointed. Wine list is rather uninspiring and not a match to the amazing food.

This would've been a perfect holiday stay, but for two things. First, we booked a non-smoking room. We got one that smelled like a smoker's cubicle in an airport. On requesting a smoke-free room we were told that because we checked in late (hotel was informed of late check-in at booking time) and haven't booked a full week's stay, we'll have to make do with what is available. And second, while the core hotel team speaks perfect English and are very helpful, hired help speaks almost none and has no idea of what proper table service is. We had some comic distraction trying to explain them a difference between double and single spirits measure, or between tap and bottled water -- all in vain.

Still, I would've rated the hotel "excellent" if not for a smoke-smelling room.

I stayed with my parents, wife and brothers at the Hinterwies over christmas. Despite very disappointing snowpack, we had a wonderful stay. I can imagine that in normal years there is no better place for a ski vacation.

The hotel was clean, the staff was very kind - and very professional. Our room appeared to be recently remodeled. The food is good - and the Manhart family does a wonderful job of making you feel at home. The family has a wealth of information about the local area - and skiing in general.

While the hotel is a bit removed from Lech, I would suggest that there isn't THAT much to see/do in Lech anyways. Plus, the walk is quite enjoyable.

I just returned from a 8-day stay in hotel Hinterwies and I am all too happy to recommend it to others. The strong points of the hotel include: (i) the absolutely wonderful service of the family operating it as well as the employees;tThey are all very attentive, smiling and eager to assist; (ii) the absolutely delicious food and the gourmet cuisine you will try should you take the half board option; (iii) the lift next door (as long as you are not a beginner) (iv) the quiteness since it is not central

The not so strong points are: (i) it is not central so you will need to walk for about 5-10 minutes to the main shopping area and lifts, which is a very pleasant walk (ii) the hotel does not have internet in each room, although there is internet access next to the reception (the manager informed me that next year all room will have internet)

All and all, I enjoyed tremendously the relaxed atmoshpere and the family-like feeling of the hotel, the excellent service (the receptionist was always helpful in assisting us e.g. booking train tickets, ski school, taxis, bringing us extra heating etc) and the wonderful views over the white mountains. I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for some quality accomodation in Lech.

I recently got back from Austria and had an amazing time. It was my third year traveling to Lech am Arlberg and it is always worth it. Every year I stay at the Hinterweis Hotel that is owned by the Manhart family. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home and are always available to talk or give you suggestions about activities to participate in. The staff is prompt and professional and the maitre'd
Herbert is amazing. Everyone is friendly and english is readily spoken. It is up a heel, but the distance is something like five minutes walk. The hotel location is great because its away from all the early commotion that those staying at Schneider or Arlberg will experience. The hotel even has its own lift called Hinterweis lift which makes it ski in/out. The food is amazing. I got the Halfboard which i think comes with all rooms, but the food is simply delicous. Dinner is at least 5 course every night...and the desert...heavenly. Once a week they have a "gala" dinner where complimentary cocktails are served before hand and an amazing dinner is served. They have vegetarian options too. Every morning they have a buffet breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages, cereals..the list goes on. their coffee is also superb. the rooms are quaint and compact.it's a four star hotel, but people dont come to lech to sit in their rooms so they arent amazing, but they are very austrian. the best rooms are the attic suites on the third floor but they are very hard to reserve. the room i stayed in had a long foyer and lots of closet space. closet is space is something not lacking in any of the rooms. the bathrooms are very modern and i believe all (all ive stayed in) are shower/tub combos. Usually the toliet is in a seperate little room. they also have a new sauna, work out room, offer services, and have an activities room for childern. this hotel is very child friendly and recently has permitted dogs. A MUST!
