I never write reviews but I have to say this is the nicest B and B I have ever stayed in. The rooms are fantastic as is the breakfast and nothing is too much trouble. Its a lovely town and I hope to stay here again.

Room Tip: All the rooms are superb

As it is only a 30 minute drive from Alton Towers it was an ideal place to stop overnight. The B&B itself was easy enough to find and was located in a small village where there are a few local pubs and an Indian restaurant nearby. It had a homely, warm feel and the owner was very friendly and accommodating. There were many nice touches such as a freshly baked lemon cake in the breakfast room and an emergency bucket in the bathroom, just incase I had forgot anything. There was a dvd player and a selection of DVDs to choose from which came in handy as there was not much to do in the village on an evening although there is a bowling alley and an ice rink a 10 minute drive away. It was great value for money and I would definitely recommend stopping here again.

Thank you for your review. Alton Towers is a maximum of 30 minutes away. Usually less and it is a nice drive. Just time to unwind after all that activity! The library of DVD's we have is great for a quiet night in or a late night movie after a visit to one of four pubs in the village. Maybe after a pub crawl after visiting them all and a meal at the Indian. All within walking distance. Glad you enjoyed the very popular lemon cake!

This B&B is lovely. The rooms are beautifully decorated and you have a feeling of being in a period novel. The house is warm and comfortable and the owner is polite and kind. The family live separately so clients have their privacy. All your needs are catered for, the service is excellent and has a personal touch to it all the way to what you choose to eat for breakfast and the freshly made ginger cake in the breakfast room.

I would certainly stay here again.

Thank you for your review. We do try to keep the balance right of being professional but friendly. I think different people require different things so I try to get it right for the individual parties. I get my own space too!, but I am just a stones throw away should you require anything. The ginger cake - ah one of my favourites!

I stayed here for 1 night with my girlfriend when we went to visit Alton towers. The stay was amazing and you felt really welcomed. On arrival we were offered tea or coffee with homemade cake which was a little nice treat. The owner was happy to help with any question. In the village there was a wide selection of pubs which served food and an Indian restaurant.

The room was to a high standard with a comfy soft bed and your own bathroom.

Breakfast was a freshly cooked full English breakfast with tea, coffee, fruit juices.

Could not have wanted more from our stay. I am tempted to find somewhere else to visit in the area just so I can stay at this B&B.

Have you found that other place to visit yet so you can come back to stay! (There are loads of places btw!) being about 20-25 minutes from Alton Towers makes Buttercross a great place to stay and relax after an adrenaline filled day. I have had people phone to ask where I got the mattresses from. As well as Full English Breakfast we offer a wide range of items including:- smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toasted muffins, crumpets with poached egg, spinach andHollandaise sauce, hot fruit and brioche with yoghurt, traditional Staffordshire Oatcakes with different fillings.

We had a really relaxing stay at this B&B. Decoration and facilities were excellent, with lots of little touches giving the place real character.

Breakfast was delicious and there are several pubs serving food within easy walking distance. Abbots Bromley is well worth exploring on foot.

We did a bit of walking and Mountain Biking as this B&B is well located for Cannock Chase. Home made cake when you return in the evening makes this a 5 star B&B!

Thank you for your lovely review. A yummy cake awaiting you after an energetic bike ride on Cannock Chase, you deserved it! I'm glad you found it relaxing after your activities. Abbots Bromley is a great village to stroll around with four friendly pubs and an Indian to enjoy.

We stumbled across this B&B with a very last minute reservation. The room was brilliantly clean with an incredibly comfortable bed - with the glorious smell of freshly laundered sheets!

There were lots of generous touches (an 'emergency bucket' in the bathroom containing bits that any one staying may have forgotten - including a disposable tooth brush, a nice jar of biscuits with the tea and coffee). The breakfast was also very good - we opted for poached eggs on toast and fruit with yoghurt.

We were very lucky to have such a last minute booking, but would definitely recommend booking in advance. Would have liked to have stated longer!

So pleased you enjoyed your choice for your last minute booking. I wash all the laundry on site so the smell of fresh laundry is always around! Home baked cookies and cakes are always on offer. Hope to see you again and maybe you can stay longer next time!

Another truely fabulous stay, courtesy of the lovely Sharon and Buttercross. This time we were greated by an entire chocolate malteser cake made just for us girls. And it was absolutely delicious!

Buttercross really has become a home away from home for us and we are made to feel so welcome by Sharon, who is the most consummate host. The house itself remains as comfortable, spotlessly clean and beautiful as ever and delivers everything we could hope for. It really is a drag to leave after our biannual one night stay. So much so, this year we have decided to book in a third trip, this time bringing the children with us. It may be a slightly less tranquil stay than normal but we are very excited about it nevertheless!

Looking forward to coming back to stay in a few months time. Love Buttercross as much as ever and really can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks again, Sharon!!

It was lovely to see you all again. I am glad you enjoyed the rather naughty but nice Malteser cake. I will have to make something with the children in mind for your next stay! Buttercross really is lovely when a group takes over all the rooms and the lounge/breakfast room gets used for gatherings for glasses of wine, chocolates, cake etc whilst looking out of the lovely sash window at the center of the village. The best view in the village - I think! Wont be long before you are back again. Have a great summer!
