“High End Tuscan Experience”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

We stayed at Pieve a Pava for a week with a group of friends and it was the *perfect* Tuscan experience. In particular Rita's cooking was amazing, Our room was perfect for us - just beautiful and elegant in a country way. We loved the location deep in the countryside with access to Florence, Sienna and lots of other smaller towns all around. Great walking from the guesthouse, beautiful countryside. A luxurious experience that was fantastic for a group of friends.

You have to be a special person to go to this enchanting place. The WIFI may not be very fast, the dusty track leading up to the house is not fit for a Ferrari, you cannot walk to the shops. All this for me makes this place bliss. Stylishly furnished with Axel Vervoordt inspired interiors, the Belgian owners know how to treat their guests. Johnny & Rita cater to your every need and the cooking is sublime. We loved the pool and the gardens and the stunning views over the Siennese "Creti" and the walks through the countryside where we spotted deer and porcupine. Make this a stop for a week to explore such beautiful places such as Sienna, Montalcino, Pecenza, and Abbeys such as San Antimo. A wonderful, stylish break.

My two daughters, husband and I just returned from a wonderful 10 day trip to Italy. We stayed at Pieve a Pava for 5 days and found this to be one of the highlights of our trip. It was the perfect place to unwind each day before and after exploring the Tuscan region. Rita and Johny are gracious hosts, preparing breakfast each morning with Rita's homemade jams, breads, fresh fruit, and local cheese and meats. We were fortunate enough to plan a cooking class with Rita and enjoyed learning some of the simply prepared and local fresh dishes, which we later enjoyed with our house guests overlooking the country side. The mini bar includes juice, water, soda at no additional cost and wine and beer for a small charge. Johny was helpful in working with us on a few different itineraries which included trips to Sienna, and the surrounding wine country. The rooms are tastefully appointed with ironed linen sheets on the beds and spacious showers and bathrooms. Although they are not air conditioned, we found the rooms quite comfortable as they are in an old stone building which stays cool. The internet signal is poor, so don't count on phones or computers working well from here. All in all.....this was a little bit of heaven during our trip!

We stayed over the Christmas holidays 2011, down season and many places were closing for the season. Johnny and Rita graciously stayed open so we could enjoy the region for a few days. Would love to return one day in the spring. Perfect location and the grounds are gorgeous. The rooms are wonderful.

We stayed here for four night in mid-April and are still in a state of bliss thanks to the beauty and tranquility of this special place. Johny and Rita are lovely hosts and provided us not only with a delicious breakfast every morning but were generous with recommendations of local sites and restaurants. Can't recommend staying here and the surrounding country highly enough.

We had a great stay with Rita and Johny at their guest house.

The room we had was more like an appartment with lots of space. The room and the rest of the buildings are being kept very authentic which gives a nice atmosphere.

We enjoyed breakfast and diner at the guesthouse and it felt as if we were visiting friends since both Rita and Johny joined us at the table every time. This gave a very friendly and relaxed feeling!

The food itself was amazing - from the handmade bread and marmelade in the morning until the awesome dishes in the evening. Rita is a genius in the kitchen and Johny knows how to pick the right wines.

Overall the friendliness, location, food and great great great hospitality makes this place one of the best places (if not the best!) I have visited over the years.

I surely hope we can plan a new stay next year.

And if you stay at Pieve a Pava - ask for Johnny Guitar. He's the rockstar of the village :)

It was time beginning of November for the Truffel season in Tuscany. Rita & Johnny provided delicious food & wines around the famous mushroom in the area. It was simply awesome. Guitar Johnny brought the right atmosphere to enjoy the dinner and the guests from all over the world. Once again, the location, the warm and welcoming hosts made this stay unforgetable for us. Pieve a Pava is always a place to come back to.
