Owner description: This excellent course, with some long par 4s, has hosted the Portuguese Open several times and features the par 3, 15th hole with nothing between the tee and green but water.

Played this course with seven friends in October.
No doubt, this is one of the best courses in the area. Great condition and challenge.
However, and I have played this course every year since 1999, you almost always leave feeling annoyed. Every year there is an argument, booked time has been changed, no buggys, no elec carts, no hot water in showers, no towels. The management attitude seems to be 'if you're not happy don't come, someone else will in your place'.
This year topped it all. Booked the 2 fourballs for Oct in January. When we arrived we were told sorry no buggys or carts, carry your bag. We have an age range from 33 to 72 and it was hot - 34 c. We refused to move and would willingly have held up the whole course. We eventually got buggys and the supervisor really thought we should be grateful. "I did magic for you." When it come to customer service, they just don't get it or they don't care.
Funny thing is that at their other course in Laranjal, and we sometimes see the same staff there, everything is really friendly and top class.

We visited for a game of golf in October 2013. This is a top-quality course. It is 20--25 minutes outside Vilamoura so it does not get the same penetration of 'one-day golfers' that the courses in Vilamoura tend to suffer from. The course, greens and bunkers were immaculately maintained and the service was excellent. The driving range, putting greens and chipping area were all well kept and while there was a 'busy' feel to the place, it was run smoothly and efficiently. Each buggy had accurate GPS screens which were a great help. The hired clubs appeared to be brand new, for those in our group who did not bring their own clubs. Many of the golf courses in Vilamoura are similar to one another but Quinta do Lago South has subtle differences that set it apart.

We actually stayed in a villa in Quinta do lago and what a place, surrounded by the rich and the famous. Wayne Rooney was staying up the road in the hotel. All of the villas are app €2 million upwards and we actually saw one for sale for €12 million.
The supermarket at the commercial centre is a little on the expensive side especially if you compare it to the supermarket in Almancil called Pingo Dolce, we couldn't believe how cheap it was.
We played golf twice on Quinto do Lago south course which has hosted the Portuguese Open on many occasions, it was simply stunning. That said one round, hire of clubs and a buggy were €159. Was it worth it, without a doubt it was.
There is however a shop on the road back to Almancil called Florida golf where you can hire clubs for €15 per day or €45 for the week, this beats the €40 per round the golf club charge you

Excellent in every manner. Weather, welcome, great clubhouse facilities and beautiful food and drink.
We had no problem with traffic as we played mid afternoon to avoid the night time rush. A little too warm for the very demanding and longer back nine, but the ease of play with no hold ups was worth the heat!
Yes it's a little expensive, but its a class layout, beautiful views, quite and surrounded by beauty.
Would highly recommend a buggy, and if you can play back nine first, you will enjoy the front nine finish as you tire.
Excellent, I see why the Tour visited for so many years. Highly recommend.

You re lying top dollar but this has to be one of the best courses in the Algarve. The course was as ever a challenge but was immaculate despite it being September, they seem to have sorted out the tee off timing and slow round issues as the amount of traffic on the course was about right. We played in the afternoon, not always the best time to play due to heat but were rewarded with a quiet course finishing in time for sundowners. Given it was September the driving range was a bit tried but still OK. Always expensive, but as they say reassuringly. You get what you pay for so expect things!
