“Great rooms,staff and restaurant”
Reviewed 18 October 2011

This was at least the 10th time I have used this Hotel in the last few years. My wife and I have just returned from a 10 day stay.
The Staff are always helpfull and will do what they can to make your stay a good as it can be.
Facilities in the appartments are excellent for the cost paid. All rooms have very good air conditioning and are cleaned daily. This time we went through Golf Breaks and the only moan we had was over the allocation of the appartment. If I had thought about it I would have e-mailed ahead to check which side of the Hotel we were going to be.
Even so we had a great time.
For Golfers there are some of the best courses within a 10 minute drive and afterwards there are more restaurants in the locality to choose from than you can take advantage of, if you want to eat out.
Difficult to find any fault with the location or the facilities. It is worth mentioning the beds; they are quite hard, and this will suit some and not others.
One major plus was the WI-FI available. At a modest cost of 10 euros for an hour it was easy to use in the room.
We have already made arrangements to go back in March next year.

Room Tip: Contact the Hotel ahead of arrival to check where you are located.Best rooms are overlooking the Poo...

We stayed in a one bed room with our two children. Sofa bed OK for younger kids only, room had full kitchen, aircon and was clean and spacious. However, a other fittings a little tired, eg CRT TV with few local channels only. The pool is OK, but not large enough for the number of guests, so sometimes a scramble for space.

The staff are very friendly, and the restaurant was very good, in particular the buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner. Parking is no problem.

The location is not perfect. The beach is only 800m away, but you need to walk down a steep sandy hill through scrub land, so best to drive to the beach car park instead. Also, the only alternative local restaurants to the hotels are on the beach.

Went here last October with a crowd (22) fellow golfers, rooms clean and split into two bedrooms with a seperate living / cooking area. View not great and a 10 minute walk through a small copse gets you to a nice sandy beach. Stayed here and went golfing in the day and ate at the hotel a couple of times, but the restaurant is quite small for the number of rooms. Other times we ate in Villamora. taxies ranges from 8 to 15 Euro's each way. A good base for people wanting to stay and play golf in Villamora.

We have stopped here twice now, both times over Easter.
We are a family of 4. 2 Adults and 2 children aged 15 & 13 years. Normally we either have to try and squeeze into a family room, but this is just not practical now, or pay for 2 rooms and then hope they are interconnecting! Here though, we have a family room for 4 and it is more like a suite! We have a double room with en-suite and a twin room with en-suite separated by a huge lounge/dining area and a separate kitchen with all facilities. The balcony runs the length of this room as well. There is an entrance lobby with storage room that contains a full size iron and ironing board, and has the cushions for the outdoor furniture. Be warned though, the beds are quite hard. if you like a soft bed you will not have a good nights sleep!
Pool towels are included, but you need to ask at reception. The hotel is a little out the way of bars and restaurants. The first time we went we had to keep having taxis, but this time we hired a car and it was fantastic. We nipped to the supermarket to stock our fridge freezer up for during the day, and went out every evening to the various bars and restaurants around, and there are lots. The Nossa Cafe in Almancil is a real gem. It's nothing much to look at, but the food is typical Portuguese, the staff and owner are very friendly and it is very reasonably priced. The Lemon Tree was also very good and Vaults. All these are in Almancil and about 5-10 mins drive from the Formosa Park.
Through the back of the hotel you walk along a little track until you get to the beach. It is fabulous. On the beach are a few bars/ restaurants serving fish. Very nice but you do pay for the view as well.
The breakfast in the hotel does let it down though. We did manage to find something, but it was nothing to write up about, one way or the other. They do have fruit, cereals, cold meats and cheese, bread and cooked breakfast, but this is kept in bain maries.
The pool is not heated, but a nice size and proper shape to swim properly in, and after the initial shock of the cool water, we soon got used to it.
Oh yes, and it is very popular with golfers! When they are out playing their rounds it is so peaceful, but if they happen to be a large group and having a day off, you may think about going elsewhere for the day!
We will definitely be going back

Room Tip: Hire a car!

We have stayed in quite a few locations in the algarve and this is by far our favourite. Rooms are spacious and above Average size. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Very quiet and remote location so a car is required to get about in the evening as the hotel taxi service is very expensive. Rooms are cleaned every day. Lots of space around pool. Beach is a 15min walk and not crowded. Lunch is on the expensive side. Nearest shopping is drive away. Would recommend to those looking for a quiet location. We have visited as a family 3 times in the last 5 years.

Stayed for 7 nights with group of golfing friends. Apartments are perfect as they are spacious and well presented. Staff couldn't be more helpfull and friendly. Good buffet breakfast to start you off for the day. Only downside is the wifi is expensive.

The apartment was very spacious, two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a large living/dining area and well fitted kitchen. The only downside was the very uncomfortable hard beds.

The location is very quiet so you do need a car but it is excellent for the golf package deals offered.

We will book again, really enjoyed the holiday.
