My husband and I have just returned from spending 12 days at Vila DG, on arrival we too were upgraded to a 2 bedroomed villa (No.23) it was absolutely superb, thank you so much!

It was our 1st visit, having previously stayed at Monte Da Quinta down the road, but I can confidently say that although MDQ are newer they do not compare with the friendliest staff and super Café, food was great. We will be back later in the year.

Best Regards

We stayed here for 2 nights in February and it was a superb experience.

I had sent a few e-mails in advance of our arrival with questions/requests and was personally greeted when we arrived by a very friendly member of staff with reference made to my requests which is exactly what you want to hear when you arrive. Excellent. We also got upgraded to a 2 bed villa which was very kind and wow, what a villa!

ACCOMODATION

The 2 bed, 2 bath villa had been recently refurbished and has been done in a modern and tasteful design. Everything has been thought of. The equipment included 6 dining chairs inside, 6 outside, 2 sunbeds, a large sofa bed, 2 flatscreen TVs, DVD player, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, all manner of utensils, knives, place settings, you name it. They also give you salt, pepper, coffee, tea, milk, water, dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets and clothes pegs. So nice to arrive to what feels more like a home than a hotel.
The beds and pillows were luxuriously comfy, the shower powerful, toiletries (shampoo, shower gel, soap, moisturisers and shower cap) all complimentary too.

SETTING

The complex is set around a golf course and wooded area. Therefore most of the properties are in the shade, which I would see as a definite plus point in summer. Some have more open views and indeed our villa had afternoon sun as we had requested before we arrived.

FACILITES

The pool area is huge. There is also an indoor pool which we made use of as I am a keen swimmer. It is just about long enough to get a good session in and the hot tub at the side is excellent. The only slight negative I have of the whole experience is that the indoor pool needed some treatment to remove algae build up. I did a quick Google search on this and it isn’t harmful to health unless the chlorine isn’t at the right level. We did not experience and ill effects, but is isn’t that nice to swim in a slightly cloudy and slightly green-ish pool. I mentioned it to reception and I am sure it will get sorted…

There is a nice café overlooking the golf green which we had a coffee and pastel da nata at.
There is an on-site supermarket which has a surprising array of choice including freshly baked breads and lots of wine to choose from. I was surprised this was open in winter which is great to have and we did indeed use it. For a larger shop I can highly recommend the Pingo Doce in Almancil for fresh fish and other items.

Overall this resort is very well run, has friendly staff, excellent facilities and outstanding accommodation. We will definitely return with our wider family.

Went with diamond resort members for a few days. It was very quiet - just what we wanted! We hired bikes and cycles in te nature reserve and played tennis at the club over the road. Very reasonable and the staff were lovely. Food in the restaurant was also fab. Not for the party animals of the world, but I'd rather have the spa to myself! Thoroughly recommended for a pre-Xmas relax!

We booked a one bed apartment here mainly because it was inexpensive, but it turned out to be an excellent choice. The apartments are all set among beautiful pine trees giving it quite a rural feel. An unexpected bonus was the huge range of activities on offer all of which were free or very reasonably priced. I participated in the guided cycle ride through the nature reserve and the vineyard and wine tasting tour, but I could also have gone bird watching, done watersports, yoga, aquafit, trips to local markets etc. For saying it was out of season (early November) when most other things were closing down for the winter, I thought this was fantastic. We will definitely be back next year.

this was a timeshare owned by our friends, we thoroughly enjoyed sharing time with them there, very lovely surroundings, excellent amenities - fabulous golf course (expensive) - outside pool was cold, but there was a heated pool inside the complex.

I was very surprised when I was able to book a 2 bedroom villa (sleeps 6) for 50€ a night. It is the off season, but the location was amazing and this is a proper 4 star resort. The villa was very spacious, and had all the furnishings. The setting was incredible and the peace and quiet of the well kept surroundings added to the relaxation of the weekend. The indoor pool, the jacuzzi, the gym, rounded off the offerings. I will certainly be returning to this location. Particularly enjoyed the backyard into the golf course with the comfortable patio furniture.

The negatives: Although the appartment was clean, some of the walls had been marred by a previous occupant and no attempt had been made to clean it up. Perfectionist that I am, had I had access to a terry cloth and an all-purpose cleaner spray, it would have been taken care of. The age of the apartments showed a bit, but they are being well kept. Some have complained about the very early check out and very late check in times. Did not affect us since we did get in late and hat to check out early, but can see how that would be a negative. And that should have allowed them to be more thorough on the cleaning!!!

Thank you for your kind review, we are pleased to read that although there appear to have been some maintenance issues with you apartment - which will be addressed- you enjoyed an otherwise undisturbed and relaxing stay and we hope that we will have another opportunity to offer you a warm welcome back in the future.
