Dome Beach Hotel & Resort

Reviewed 29 May 2013

We arrived at the Dome Beach on May 1st 2013 for our wedding holiday, our first impressions were "wow". The reception area was clean and modern and the reception staff were very welcoming and polite and our bags were taken to our room for us.
We booked this hotel for our wedding as we liked the veranda venue where you could look out at the sea and palm trees whilst saying your vows. The wedding planner Angela was very helpful and gave us all the info we needed and really put us at ease and Jenny the wedding assistant went out of her way to organise everything for us and bent over backwards as nothing was too much trouble. I would defo recommend this hotel for your wedding, we felt like royalty for the whole stay, and our wedding day was perfect.
We stayed in the "Pearl Suite" bungalow which was situated by the main pool and kids pool, the rooms were very modern and spacious and were well maintained by the cleaners. We also had our own pool which was cleaned daily.
The main pool and kids pool were excellent, they were kept very clean and there was always plenty of loungers around it.
We found the food to be of a very high standard with plenty of variety, I am a very fussy eater and so are our older kids aged 11,14 & 16, and we always found plenty to eat, the desserts were to die for and we particularly enjoyed BBQ night and Chinese night. We also have a 1 year who I was very worried about incase he didnt eat the food and he actually came away heavier, he loved it! The waiters were excellent, you were never sat with a dirty plate for long and the tables were kept clean and tidy.
The drinks were great with plenty of choice, the only thing I would say is that the plastic cups need to be bigger as the cocktails would often be too strong in the small cups so they would end up wasted, Tasos and George the barmen were particularly friendly and helpful.
The entertainment was very good, as the weather was unpredictable it was indoors but was still great, the kids enjoyed the disco and then there was a quiz and bingo for the adults afterwards. Sarah the Thomas Cook Entertainer was excellent at her job and worked tirelessly from morning til night to keep the guests happy, Sarah and her team were always around trying to get everyone involved in the activities day and night.
The location of the hotel was very good for us, it was on a beautiful beach and not too far from the shops, you can get a bus to ayia napa or almost anywhere for €1 and a taxi for €10.

Overall our stay at the Dome Beach was fantastic and we would definitely recommend it for a family holiday and a wedding.
We would like to say a big Thankyou to Angela, Jenny and Elaine for making our day so special and to Maria for ensuring we had everything we needed and for babysitting (lol). And to Sarah, Mitch, Blake, Jane and Jade for keeping us all entertained and teaching us the cartoon heroes dance ;-) our wedding guests loved it!

We came to the dome for our wedding with 28 of our family and friends , it was perfect and everyone had a really good time. Jenny and Angela were brilliant with the wedding planning. Maria and Levante were also great !
They made a big fuss of my dad on his 60 th birthday , we have some lovely memories from this holiday and would definitely go back in the future.

Generally a nice hotel but not quite the 4* rating, probably 3* at most, the hotel looks better in the brochure but in reality slightly dated and partly masked by refurbishment which was really only cosmetic by a licking of paint etc., rooms were nice and spacious but not properly cleaned, balcony never cleaned in our two week stay.

Main Pool: Nice size, but found that it was never cleaned once in the first of our two week stay, I had to call for the manager to get someone to clean the rubbish I spotted which was lying on the bottom.

Bar: Plenty to choose from in the way of cheaper branded local spirits but you had to put a few cocktails away before you felt the alcohol kick in. The bar rules seemed to be made up as you go, we found a bit of a faulty towers approach to serving drinks which were restricted to only 2 per person, (not specified in the brochure), bit of a knock back when your all inclusive and trying to get a round for the rest of your family.

Food: Unfortunately a massive disappointment, it accounts for a large percentage of the ‘all inclusive’ package but very, very poor quality, second grade produce and a lot recycled, you are stuck if you have kids as there’s not much in the way of children's food in this hotel and what was available i.e. fish fingers appeared to be compressed (frozen) meat and not fresh. Also no variety of Ice cream for kids, choc bars only.

Staff: We’ll, they hardly smiled, we got more response from the cleaners in passing in the corridor than the bar staff, also the hotel had shipped in a new breed of inexperienced waiters who struggled to understand English and didn't seem to know what they were doing under constant guidance by the managers.

Entertainment: Although restricted, the entertainment staff who are all English were great with the kids and guests and did a fantastic job keeping them entertained.

In summary the hotel has great potential and overall we had a pleasant stay, with a new manager who was always listening to guest’s opinions should now seek advice from the local restaurants on food and food quality, in its current climate would deter me from returning to this hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your stay with us. The hotel has gone COMPLETE refurbishment and this is obvious for clients that visited before the refurbishment and after or if you have a look on the internet at the so many available photographs before the refurbishment. Our rooms get cleaned on a daily basis and should there have been a problem in regards to cleaning this should have been reported to the reception in order to be resolved immediately. The pool and its areas as well are getting cleaned twice a day, once in the morning prior to the breakfast of the guests and once in late afternoon. The all inclusive drinks are local spirits as in all all inclusive hotels in Cyprus. The all inclusive system is clearly explained to our tour operators and stockpiling of drinks is not allowed. At your check in on the day of your arrival, among the printed information given to you about the hotel, we provide a clear explanation of how the AI works, for guests to read! Regarding the food we believe there is a wide variety of options including the ala carte restaurants. Thank you again for your constructive comments, which we take very seriously in order to further improve our services and facilities.

11 of us stayed at the Dome from 12th May - 26th May, 9 adults, 2 kids. Weather was just lovely 21 degrees when we arrived reaching 29 degrees when we were leaving.
The hotel is situated on the very outskirts of Ayia Napa but you can easily get into the centre on the bus for 1 euro each (children free). Be aware the nearest bus stop is approx a 10 min walk down the road from the hotel.
First impressions of the hotel were very nice. Lovely decor, staff friendly enough and clean modern reception area.
We booked our holiday through Thomas Cook and booked a sea view room but on arrival we were given a side room at the back facing the car park. At first I was very annoyed and we were going to complain but were told by memebers of our group that although the view was not brilliant, it was nice and quiet on a night time for our son sleeping unlike the rooms facing the pool which were noisy till the entertainment finished. The rooms are nicely decorated and looked 'fresh' and the double bed is huge and very comfortable!! Unfortunately, we did find that during our stay the rooms weren't cleaned as well as they should have been. The bath had not been cleaned out during the whole 2 weeks of our stay. Towels weren't changed everyday and bedding not changed once. The floor was also not swept very often either. The balcony is tiny but this didn't bother us as we rarely used it.
There is a great choice of 4 restaurants which you can attend each one once per week plus the main restaurant. We tried the Italians purlely because this was the only one my son would eat from and the portion sizes were huge - choice of starter, main, and pudding and the lady who works for that restaurant was lovely, very nice and polite. The main restaurant had a good variety of food but we did find in our first week the food wasn't too good and one night both me and my son only ate a bread bun each but can say that it improved dramically in the second week. There was no kids menu until someone had obviously complained, then they provided one a few days before we left. If it was available before this then we were never told so make sure you ask if you have kids. During breakfast and dinner you are told to sit outside and the inside opens for your evening meal. The rule of trousers for your evening meal is not strict and my husband wore shorts or 3 quarters every night.
A couple of the staff were friendly, couple miserable and the manager was very friendly and polite asking peoples opinions and always checking the hotel and if you were happy. This was nice to see him getting involved with the hotel and interacting with the guests which you don't often see at other hotels.
The pool areas were great and we found the adult pool to be the best and cleanest between to two although we did notice during our stay that the pool could have been cleaned to a higher standard with rubbish floating in it and bits of sand at the bottom which we did complain to the manager about and it was seen to straight away.
There are 3 bars to use during the day and the indoor bar opens on a night time. There is a rule that you are only allowed to purchase 2 drinks at a time which mustn't include children because I tried to order two for my son as he was very thirsty and was told he was only allowed one. This rule must only apply 'if your face fits' as there were a few times other people were getting 8-10 drinks at a time.
The hotel is a stones throw onto the beach which is lovely as you sometimes get the sea breeze which is nice and cooling. It was a bit pebbly but the sea is very nice. There was a tractor out nearly every morning cleaning it.
During our stay we found out that you get one free use of either the sauna, steam room or jacuzzi. I don't know if a lot of people knew about this but we used the jacuzzi, which needs to be booked at the spa reception. The spa area was lovely and although we enjoyed the jacuzzi we did find it wasn't very clean and didn't enjoy it as much as we should have as you could see bits of scum round the edge of the tub.
The two kids in our group absolutely loved the entertainment courtesy of the Thomas Cooks entertainment team..my son was up dancing every night. They put on entertainment 6 days a week - none on a sunday, which is 8-9 for the kids then from 9pm bingo followed by something afterwards for the adults. Big thanks to Sarah, Charlotte, Jane, Jade, Blake, Peter, Yanis, and Mitch for keeping our son amused - he misses his dancing nights! They have the kids club through the days with pool and table tennis at the pool bar.
Check out is 12pm and you get to keep your all inclusive wristbands till you depart. There is a shower room to use before you leave to freshen up but you need to book a half hour slot for this at reception.
The waterpark is approx 10 mins in a taxi which is handy if you decide to go - bit too long of a walk if you have kids and its hot.
All in all there were some niggles about the holiday as with most but overall a lovely hotel and a great holiday!

Room Tip: Beach bungalows with private pool looked lovely facing the beach and very private

Went to The Dome Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa in May 2013 with my family. It was a fantastic holiday & we enjoyed it very much. The food was very high quality & lots of choice for everybody, the hotel had 3 separate international restaurants within the complex in which you could eat at when going all inclusive for one night a week, which was very good as you can have an even wider variety of food. The staff at the hotel were exceptional & were always there to help & very friendly. I was most impressed with the manager as he had a very hands on approach within the hotel and we saw him many times in the restaurant and the reception, he was very approachable & refreshing. The room we stayed in was a bungalow & we was very impressed with this, very spacious & comfortable throughout our stay. The only thing we could fault was the weather which was inconsistent with it being the being of May!
I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends & family.

Room Tip: Bungalow's are very spacious

My Wife and I visted the resort of Ayia Napa with our Granddaughter in May, staying at The Dome Beach Hotel. Having spent many years in Ayia Napa for our yearly holiday it was our first visit to the dome hotel. On arrival we were greeted at the reception by the friendly staff, the porter service was available and we found this very useful after our long flight. Our family room was nice and well apointted and looked just like the brouchue.
During our stay we enjoyed meals outside on the large terrace looking out over the bay, viewing the crystal clear sea & sandy beaches. Full board offers a wide variety of menus throughout the week, we could also choose from the 3 restaurants available in the hotel complex which covers Italian, Greek & Japanese cuisine. Our favourite being the Italian, which we did visit on more than one occasion for our main evening meal.
My Grandaughter was catered for during the day at the Kiddies Domino Club within the complex, I found the staff very helpful and looked after my granddaughter and stopped her from getting bored whilst we soaked up the sun and enjoyed the refreshments on my all inclusive holiday. Cleanliness is a priority and the dome came up to stratch in all areas of the complex. I would like to recommend The Dome Beach Hotel if you are looking for value for money and a restful enjoyable break away in a lovely location.

Room Tip: Family Room offers very good value
