The hotel was built in 1972, has extensive grounds and is set on an excellent beach. We stayed in the main building on the 3rd floor and had a nice sea view looking over the top of the gardens. The 2 twin rooms we had were not large but they were very clean and had adequate space for 2 people, although the bathrooms were small and showed a few signs of needing redecoration/refit. The gardens are very well kept and the whole interior of the hotel was very clean, and staff were in the main all very friendly. Food in the restaurant was varied and of a good standard and there were many themed nights. Some of the exterior paint work is flaking but you need to look hard for it. There was reasonable evening entertainment every night but the lack of a formal stage area & lighting meant that visibility and performance was less than ideal. We went 'all inclusive' which was generally good value but there were a couple of irritrating and unnecessary restrictions particularly about were you could have lunch.

i stayed and got married at the nissi beach in june and it was fantastic! we stayed in a beach suite (no 7) and the money was well worth it, the view to the sea was beautiful this was the first row of bungalows! we didnt seem to have problems with any cockroaches etc! we went b+b and the breakfast wonderful so much variety from english brek to fresh fruit, croissants. the staff around the hotel were so helpful and couldnt do enough fo you! the wedding itself was perfect, the food and drink was a little expensive but everywhere in cyprus was! nissi beach is a weddings hotel with sometimes up to 3 a day, but im sure everyone knows this before they book, the weddings are very discreet and i spoke to some people there who werent getting married and still had a great holiday in this beautiful setting!

Okay. I've read all the reviews on Nissi Beach before I decided to spend my summer vacation in this hotel. I liked the overall rating as 2nd hotel in Ayia Napa on TripAdvisor.com. Where to begin: many things people have said are true, I am here just to point out some good things and some bad things about this resort.

Firstly - We stayed in Beach bungalow number 45. There is one thing that I would like to share here: not all of the beach bungalows are sea view. Ours was not a sea view, apparently we overlooked the bungalows in front. Beach bungalows are built in three rows: The first row is closest to beach but there is no privacy and you cannot really see the sea from trees, palms, bushes etc. Middle row is the best one overlooking the first row with numbers 30 something to 41 or smth. If you choose to stay in beach bungalow you better insist on these ones. No sign of ants or roaches first week. However, they showed up in second week, and, yes, cockroaches are huuuuge. They look like a small animals, like someone said - sized as mice. Just unacceptable.

More about the bungalow: queen size bed is made of two regular beds, not really comfortable as you have this gap between the beds all the time. TV set is prehistoric age, mini bar was missing 4-5 items, not enough lights/lamps in the night.

Second thing, the beach is wonderful: however, there are water waves almost every day, and in the afternoons lots of garbage and seaweed come to the shore and this is not really nice. You have to pay 5 euros for 2 lounges and you have discount as a hotel guest as regularly you would've paid 7.5. Shouldn't these be free of charge for the hotel guests?
Breakfast is good, more like acceptable due to fact that if you go after 9am (served 7-10am) it gets pretty tough to get the food as the premise with food is too small to accommodate 30-40 hungry people. You will wait in the queue 3-4 minutes to get the bacon.
Beach bars are extremely expensive: it is true - 10 euros for a cheeseburger&chips and 4 euros for a pint of local Keo beer. If you want to drink Heineken, Guinness or Cider you will need 5.50 eur or more. Restaurants nearby, outside the Nissi Resort follow the mentioned prices. As we informed here we tried out the following ones:

1. Mangas: way too expensive, nice ambiance, good service, but definitely not worth the money, though the food is excellent = paid 55 eur for two: 2 soups of the day, 2 drinks and 2 main meals.

2. Valentinos = do not eat pizza here, its terrible and too small and, again, not worth the money.

3. Odysseus = nice restaurant - just across the street facing the hotel entrance. Try kleftiko or calamari. Its weird that all 'from the sea' menus offer only frozen fish, except calamari/squids. This goes for all the restaurants in Ayia Napa (at least ones me and my wife visited).

4. Wild West - If you decide to go here choose Cyprus special - Cyprus Meze for 2 persons = 32 eur, but definitely best food and quantity. We actually think this meal could go for 4 persons. Recommendation.

5. Golden Arrow - this restaurant is the best one! It is in center square of Ayia Napa. You'll pay for Mixed grill 6.50 eur, pint of Carlsberg or Keo for 2.80, 25 shots for 12 eur or 3 ltrs meter of beer for 6 eur. The food and service are great. If you pay taxi to Ayia Napa and back, eat and drink in this restaurant, still you will pay less than eating in any of 1.-4. restaurants just in front of the hotel.

Regarding a stroll to Ayia Napa: it is not 15 or 40 minutes. I consider myself a fast walker and it needed 50-55 minutes walk to city center each time. If you want to take a cab it'll be 7-9 euros one way, depending on the type of vehicle. Anyway, think about walking to Ayia Napa as it is not just a relaxed walk, especially in midday or afternoons. One more thing, the temperatures are not that high but the level of humidity in afternoons and night is enormous. You'll get all wet and sweaty just sitting by the fan. Rent a bicycle is 6eur/day, motorbike 30/day, car 60/day and buggy 90/day (!?).

There are approx. 3-4 weddings a day in hotel. Most of the reviews written here are from young married couples which say everything is wonderful and they rate everything 5*. But in reality it is not really like this. In my honest opinion, Nissi beach is rated as a 2nd best hotel in Ayia Napa thanks to these wedding reviews. I honestly believe that it is overrated and not worth the money. For the price of 3k eur for me and my wife (including the return air ticket and 10 BBs) I really do not expect to run after ants and roaches in my room, have a sea view - NOT a sea view bungalow and especially I do not expect to pay for a milkshake and beer 10+ euros, whereas the hotel staff and managers are completely deaf to complaints.
Finally, would I recommend this hotel to my friends? - No. I'd say if you want Cyprus go to 4 Seasons and pay 7 BB's same money or even better - for less money go to Hilton or Novotel or Ritz in Egypt for 10 days All Inclusive: you'll have best beach and water and you will not have to beware that roaches and ants are gonna eat you alive while sleeping.

Having just returned today from two weeks at the Nissi Beach Hotel and I would like to add to what probably has been said before.
We stayed at a beach bungalow, The cleaner was not the most perfect in the world, The filth from previous occupants under the beds etc was still there when we left. Despite many complaints about the thousands of ants in the bathroom the problem still remained. On closer inspection of the ant bait traps that were in the bathroom when we arrived and were still there when we left the "sell by date" was 2007!
We did not have a problem with cockroaches but out neighbour did.
The lighting in the bungalows is very dim. There are 2 flourescent tubes on the patio doors. One of which would not fire up due to a faulty starter or tube and kept flashing. Despite reporting the fault on the 2nd day it was not fixed.

The mini-bar is expensive and keep a check on it as we were charged twice for one bottle of water as the cleaner failed to replace the one we used. Also the shelves were ill fitting and collapsed.

Despite these faults the Hotel is excellent. Dont let me put you off! It was abnormally hot when we were there. and the humidity was very high. The beach bungalows are a few yards from the beach and it was a pleasure to go into the sea to cool off and return to your patio to dry off, have a coffee and watch the Kucadoss (Local Lizards) and the watersports. The bats also put on a flying display at about 8 Oclock. after the sparrows went to bed!

The food and drink in the hotel was fairly dear as were the beach bars. The best place we found to eat and drink was The Orange Grove. You can get a nice steak for 8.90 euros and good entertainment too. Play your cards right and you might get free wine and ice cream!!! Scottish Danny is the resident compare who does a bit of singing, dancing and joking. Not to be missed are Robbie Williams, Shania Twain, Elvis, Kylie, Lionel Ritchie and JC THE HYPNOTIST.

There is WiFi in the hotel and it is free but only in the reception area. The signal is poor and keeps cutting out. There are two PC terminals available at 2 euros for 15 minutes.

Car hire is cheap but shop around for the best deal. We got a 4 door Suzuki Alto with A/C for 3 days all inclusive for 100 euros! Just replace the fuel you use. Delivered and collected from the hotel. Drive on the right as in the UK but watch out for hired motor bikes and quads etc

Hi,
Just a quick note to echo what alot of people have stated previously. We got married at Nissi Beach in Aug 2008, everything was fantastic ! We booked the whole package through Thomson, and between the Thomson Reps and Marios (Hotel Wedding Organiser) everything was planned and executed perfectly. The weather, photo's, location, food, registrar... everything was perfect, we didn't have to worry about a thing, it was all taken care of ! (and a fraction of the cost of getting married in the uk)
All in all... a fantastic holiday and a perfect wedding... I'd definately recommend to anyone !

we stayed at the hotel for the last week in June, first in July.
we were in one of the garden bungalows, as other people on this site have said, it's a bit dated but our room was clean and tidy and although there was no sea view are balcony was nice and private. Maid service was very good and we had clean towels every day, bed linen seemed to be changed every other day. by the way no need to take beach towels with you as they are provided and you can change them as often as you wish.

The only thing we had to complain about was the mini bar, we had no intention of using this facility as every body knows they have rip off prices. on arrival we checked the contents with the list and half was missing!, we mentioned this next morning to the rep and at reception and they said don't worry somebody would be round to check and restock, several days later while we where out the restock took place and we had a bill! we complained to the rep who got it sorted and canceled the bill. this then happened again. apparently the wrong items where put in the fridge and when it was put right we had another bill, again the rep sorted it. WARNING check the fridge on arrival.

We did have a few problems with the air con leaking water but give the staff their dues maint where round very quickly and even a cleaner to wipe up the mess, at 20.30 at night as well.

The complex was about 40 mins walk to Nappa center, not to bad a walk, we walked all the time as it helps walk of the food and drink, but taxi's are readily available, prices in town work out about the same as the UK, but if you shop around you can find cheaper bars.

Overall we really enjoyed are holls and would consider going back in a couple of years, we would recommend the hotel to our friends

we have just come home from the nissi beach resort, we staryed from 5th july - 19th.

we stayed in a beach bungalow as we were getting married there, and i thought they were very spacious and ideal for the two of us. certainly worth the additional money.

we gor married on the 13th july, and the whole day went swimmingly well. Marios and Chris really were very helpful so everything went like clock work. we had the rondeval booked also for the evening recpetion and that was great also - alonf with the beach bbq. all in all a great day that my and my good wife will remember forever.

we got the wedding extras from thomas cook when booking the holiday, which included photos, cake and button holes, but for £500 i feel that you could get a better value for money dealing direct with the hotel.

we were pleased with the wedding photos and selected 30 as part of the aggreement, but we really won a watch with our wedding dvd which was done by a lovely girl Laura. the dvd was amazing and it was edited really well and done very prosessionally. I would highly recommend Laura and the service she offers. her web site is [--]

as for eating at night, we ate at the gardens inn most nights, the food was really good, and the staff were really nice also, and also treated you well, especially as we returned most night, we got free champers the day after we got married... geoge the waiter looked after us really well each night. they also have a set menu for 12 euros, and the food was as nice i i had all holiday.... they also have a bar next door called the gardens inn, and it had karaoke and drinks are 2 euros 30 for a cocktail or beer....... a great place to start the night!!!

we also had a great message for 30 euro in the hotel spa the night beofre the wedding - i would also recommend this as it helped to relax us before the big day....lol

all in all, we will definetely be returning to the nissi beach for our anniversary nect year..........

regards

mr and mrs smith....xxx
