I write a lot of reviews on trip advisor I write them because I myself like to read other opinions. We travel a lot and have seen some of the best and the worst the travel industry has to offer.
Travel and hotels, as with food is a subjective matter so this is my opinion and the way that I rate the facilities.
i booked a standard room at this hotel and led by the travel agent and the reviews on here I was looking forward to a quality stay.
When we arrived at the hotel we were upgraded to the olympic resort. this is across the road from the main complex and next to the beach. There are just 18 rooms with their own reception, pool, bar open till 6pm and you can take breakfast and lunch here from a small a la carte but sufficient menu.
You will be served as in the main hotel by excellent staff with a high level of customer service. The difference here it that you have the same waiter and bar staff Andreas and Fanos for whom nothing is too much trouble.
You have beach on your doorstep if this is what you want or your own pool for just a small set of rooms. It is very quiet and peaceful. You will get to know the others that are in the other rooms and this made the holiday as it was like a friendly house party with no uninvited guests. We even started staying over there art night having a drink in each others company away fro the chaos of the family bar.
The main part of the hotel was full of babies and toddlers. I have never seen so many.
Bars like cinnamon were supposed to be adults only after 9 but on a few nights this was ignored and the staff did not enforce this.
The guitar player in cinnamon sounded like he was warming up for an hour and was drowned out by the noise from the overenthusiastic lagoon bar. Everyone i spoke to complained about the faffing around when playing bingo.
It really got on my nerves and I am sure that somewhere in the grounds they could have had so me kind of a chill bar.
The drinks on the whole were of good quality and so was the service. We are red wine drinkers and they were serving some very bad french red that we could not drink. The Cypriot red KEO was one step up but I am sure that they could have gone just one better on an island that produces wine.
Food: There was always plenty of choice in the buffet where we had to eat at night. It was a bit of a bun fight with so many kids.
There was a small adults only area outside.
The Japanese was full of toddlers and babies as was the Captains deck. There was a toddler running in and out whilst the mother sat there and there is water surrounding the place my heart was in my mouth.
The lazy river is a good touch and I enjoyed this a couple of times.
I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and their approach to customer service it is some of the best and most consistent that I have experienced.
The complex is a bit of a wedding factory although they seem tastefully done no easy feat when there are about 4-5 a week.
There is a bus stop right outside with regular buses for a euro. Excellent value and they are frequent about every 20 minutes.
The whole complex is spotless and there are no shortage of staff some are English.
I would say that being based in the Olympic bay is like being in a small 5* boutique hotel and going in to the main complex is like going into a small frantic village where you can't wait to go back to your own part.
Fishermans village is the other adult only part and cost quite a bit to upgrade. I can't see how there apartments do not get affected by the noise from the lagoon pool. They are very nice but not so private.
To sum up we had a fantastic holiday with service to rival any 5* establishment but............. if we had not got that up grade this review would have been very different.
Would we go back well there are so many places to go but yes to Olympic bay in a heart beat.
