I went to this hotel in june 2011 with 5 friends, we paid about £500 each for a week half board. its a nice hotel. Food was good lots to choose from, pool was nice, only a taxi journey away from Nissi Beach (lovely) and most importantly only a short walk from the nightlife!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are nice :)

Hotel visited October 8th 2012 to 15th October 2012.

This hotel is in a great location, near enough to the busy town center but far enough away so that you don`t hear the noise. It is clearly in need of a degree of redecoration, with the bedrooms and the corridors being most in need. My party consisted of two 50 year olds, a few in their 30`s, two 20 somethings and some small children. All of the group enjoyed their stay at the Anmaria.

The food, in many reviews has been criticised, yes, we did have a couple of instances of food which wasn`t hot but overall the food was of a decent quality with a good variety. Some people complain about food wherever they go !!!

The pool area was great, we spent most days sunbathing and with the kids playing in the childrens pool area, we didn`t seek to use any of the beaches. We did wander to one or two and they looked great. Throughout our stay we all commented about how hard the cleaning staff in particular worked, the place was spotless.

Drinks were OK, best time we found was during happy hour from 8.00 pm to 10 pm every night when all drinks were 2Euros each. The entertainment was none existent even though on some nights the hotel advertised an event it rarely happened.

Overall the hotel is 3 star, the price we paid was very acceptable and we all had a great time. The best rooms are facing the sea all with an even number, try to get one. During our weeks stay we did not experience any "Hen Party" or "Stag" groups. We did however, experience the arrival of a couple of "Typical Brits Abroad", both young girls with red tinted hair, they arrived during the early evening of our last night and proceeded to behave like a pair of drunken yobs keeping most of our group awake until 5.00 am in the morning. The issue was reported to reception who took swift action as the two girls were seen being spoken to by a staff member. If you are one of those girls and are reading this report then you should be ashamed of yourself.

The above apart I would recommend the Anmaria Hotel primarily because of its location and pool area. Suggest only go B & B.

Room Tip: Pick an even number which will give you a pool and sea view with great sunset views.

return to the anmaria hotel in september 19th on arrival we were told there was no room for us which was very upsetting as we had a group of friends there for a wedding and we were moved a 10 min taxi ride which they did pay for this was on wednesday the wedding was friday which the did get us back in time for and for our trouble we did get a sea veiw , free fridge and safe for 2 weeks but when we did get back in i could not believe the differance in the hotel from 12 months earlier the there were no reps which i was told thomas cook had stopped them so the entertainment was rubbish , rooms needed total updating , food was passible, and a strange man was in the bar every night which someone said was the owners brother who was oggling the women and drink driving. then the hotel let poeple off the street to sun bathe but wont let them buy a drink upsetting the guest it doesnt make any sense other than that i had a brillant time in ayia napa its a beautiful place and even though anmaria hotel has the best location i wont be going back there

Stayed at this hotel for two weeks late September going into October. Some good and bad points
GOOD POINTS:-
LOCATION- Hotel set in lovely grounds which are very well kept. Far enough out of town centre to be away from all the bustle and noise and set back from Nissi Avenue. Beach infront of hotel quite rocky but only a short walk to the right takes you to a nice sandy beach. Walking further this way takes you to all the beaches along Nissi Avenue. The paved walkway turning left from the hotel takes you into Ayia Napa harbour. Well lit on a night.
STAFF- All the staff very helpful and friendly. Very hard workers
POOL- A fantastic pool which was never too crowded. Inside pool never used.
POOL TOWELS- These are available from reception for a returnable deposit of 10 euros
AIR CON- free of charge. Most welcome

BAD POINTS
FOOD- Choice of food varied and tasty with lots of choices, but not hot enough. For some strange reason the breakfast choices were always hot but the day and evening choices were rarely hot enough. Salad bar for the first week had lots of choices but by the second week the arrangement had been changed and there was not as much choice.Snacks from the pool bar(not during lunch times) were huge, a complete meal with plenty of choices and they were hot:)
ROOMS- In great need of updating. Certainly not 4* standard. Same goes for the corridors they are so dark and dingy its difficult to see where you're going and thats during daylight hours. A lick of white paint and a change of carpet would make all the difference. Other than the decor the room itself was adequate. Balcony with sea view was amazing. Get a room ending in an even number and you will have a sea view
ALL INCLUSIVE- Although we stayed as all inclusive guests we rarely stayed at hotel on an evening chosing to go into town. We also missed several lunches as we were out for the day. So we were rather disappointed to be told that the all inclusive ends at 1400hrs on the day of your departure. Bearing in mind we did not arrive until 1830hrs surely the all inclusive should last until you leave. Very rare that you leave later than you arrive. Thought it was rather greedy of the hotel.
PACKED LUNCHES- Dont bother ordering one of these. Wish we had looked inside the three boxes before we'd carried them to our destination. First box contained two sandwiches made with dried bread(even the fish refused to eat it) with a slice of ham and cheese inside. The next two boxes contained five(bruised) apples and three plums. No water or drink included.Spoke with three other couples and they had been given the same. Inedible is the word that describes the packed lunch
ENTERTAINMENT- What entertainment??? Nothing on throughout the day. Night entertainment, only heard a quiz one night although to be fair there might have been something going on when we were out in town, although did overhear other people complain about the lack of it
HOTEL IN GENERAL- This could be one of the best in town if only the management would spend some money on updating it. Several couples who have been frequent visitors stated they would not be returning until this was done.
I would class this hotel as a 3*

Room Tip: Ask for seaview room away from reception area

Arrived at the Anmaria Hotel on May 9th for my 21st Birthday, it was just me and my boyfriend staying here and we was amazed at how lovely the hotel looked as it lay off the road a bit. All the other hotels we had seen apart from Adams Beach were right on the road and looks very dingy. First impressions of this hotel were great! Reception tried very hard to speak understandable English but sometimes you had to just guess what they were saying. The rooms were okay, a bit out dated and could probably do with some fresh paint but we didn't plan on spending too much time in the room so it was okay. It was boiling hot and very hard to breathe in the room so we thought about putting our Air Con on - or maybe not. It didn't work and Reception kept telling us that it would be "a few days" right up until the point we left, personally I think they were lying and the fact they didn't tell us when we checked in was a shame. Since it was a bout 7pm we decided to check out the streets of Ayia Napa, it was in close range of the square and the centre. Took about 10-15 minutes to walk to the square, until we found a shortcut but personally wouldn't want to walk down there on my own at 3 in the morning! The pool area was amazing and was never too crowded, a couple of times you did have a few people from other hotels come in and sunbathe but they were soon escorted off by the manager of the hotel. The bar staff were very friendly and the drinks on an all inclusive wristband are pretty much 50% alcohol 50% mixer which sometimes tastes horrible but got you very drunk!

The food was absolutely terrible. Breakfast consists of toast, cereal and a typical english which was probably the only meal we looked forward to at this hotel. The only thing for Lunch and Dinner that I could recognize was the pasta, everything else was unidentified. My boyfriend used to eat terrible things in the army and even he said the food here was almost as bad if not worse. We spent most of out £1000 spending money on eating out. (I do recommend the Olive Tree on Nissi Avenue, lovely food!) If you are all inclusive you get to eat snacks at the bar as well, these include pizza, burgers etc which are better than the dinner and lunch itself, but still aren't great. They are priced up at around 8 or 9 euros which was fine for us because we were all inclusive but I wouldn't of eaten it if we wasn't.

The indoor pool was sometimes nice to dip into if it got too hot outside, but was so cold that sometimes even that was impossible and they wouldn't heat it because it was summer. I never saw the Spa open once even though I passed it several times a day when using the downstairs toilet. The Thomas cook rep was very nice but not very helpful. We arranged a trip into Nicosia but the coach didn't pick us up after waiting by the road for 30 minutes so we exchanged tickets for Water world, after losing our ticket and finding it randomly on the path, we spent an hour at Water world before it tipped down and we left. The Hotels entertainment team were some of the loveliest people we had met, they did Bingo, fire displays, discos and other things in the evening, while playing table tennis, ball games and getting to know you during the day. The don't disturb you if you are sunbathing but if you look like you need some fun then they will ask you to join them. This hotel had a mixture of families, couples and singles too. I would definitely stay at this hotel again although not for 11 nights, not all inclusive and not If I was on a budget. The last night at the hotel was the night that Chelsea one the Champions league, we got told we couldn't smoke just inside where the bar was, but yet the manager of the hotel was, he helped himself to a bottle of whiskey from behind the bar, put his feet up on the table and smoked away, within the next half hour there was around 6 of his mates all doing the same thing, it was like the Mafia!! This really frustrated us and we thought it was rude, so we decided to smoke too and he never said a word. Try and stay out of contact with this person as you will probably end up losing your call!

This was my first ever time abroad and so although this review seems a bit picky - I enjoyed myself so much and wish I never left!
