“Nice Hotel, if you want to party”
Reviewed 21 May 2010

This hotel has a lot of good sides, but it really depends on what kind of holiday you are looking for. We wanted to go to Cyprus, mainly because of the beaches and to relax. Maybe have some nice food and some nice evenings out. We chose pre-season, as we did not go there to party all night long.
First the good points: Napa Plaza is a very modern, clean and quite stylish hotel. It has a great hotel bar, the rooms are nice and clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful; there is a nice big pool and light entertainment in the evenings.

Things to consider:
Napa Plaza is located about 2 minutes walk from the square, where all the nightclubs, bars and party is happening. If you want to have a good night sleep, with your window open, you have to take at least a superior or better a suite room. We were not aware of that and booked a standard room, as it was included in our booking. When we arrived at night, we opened the window and felt like being in the middle of a night club. We asked for a room change and upgraded to a superior pool view room (60 euros per week). The noise was a little bit less, but we had to keep the windows closed, as you could hear loud techno music until around 3 o'clock at night. This means, if you go there to party and stay up all night long: Great hotel; if you don't: Book a suite or ask for a room where you can't hear the noise!

Rooms: Nice, clean, modern, but hardly any water pressure in the bathroom. TV reception was bad, but we were not too bothered about that. The fridge was very noisy and did not really cool, therefore we plugged it off.

Food: We had half board and I would not recommend it. In other reviews people are on about the great quality of food. I have to strongly disagree with that. Breakfast was average: Bread, Ham, Full English Breakfast available, eggs were very milky and most of the fruits were out of tins. Nothing too special, but also not too bad.
We were really disappointed with the dinner buffet: Most of the food was cold, the different "theme" evenings were basically every night the same food and I felt it was a shame that there was hardly any Greek food on offer. All of us went mainly for side dishes, as the meat was nasty.
We were overall quite disappointed with the food in Ayia Napa. It was extremely hard to find authentic cuisine, which I like if I go on a holiday. You could find a full English breakfast anywhere, also fish and chips and other English, German or international food, which seems a shame, if you are in Greece.
We eventually found a great restaurant there, which I will review separately. (CAPE CAVO you have to go there!!!)

Resort: Ayia Napa has some beautiful beaches. The sea was great, clean and clear. The beach that was about 5 minutes walk from the hotel was really nice and not too busy in May (sunbed and umbrella are 2 euros each); We also went to the famous Nissi beach, which was okay, but again more for people between 18 and 25 who want to party, drink and dance all day and night. The rest of Ayia Napa are basically about 4 streets, lots of pubs, restaurants, bars. Not really great for shopping, some clothes shops, mostly fake brands, but quite poor quality and the typical postcard/ useless things shops. Everything quite pricey.

I also want to mention the boat trip we did with Captain Marco: The trip was not too expensive (20 euros plus 5 euros for lunch, which was optional) The flyer sounded very good; about 7 different sights to see etc. In fact we were for about 6-7 hours on a boat seeing nothing else than rocks and some other hotel resorts, plus 3 caves, which you obviously did not really see, due to being on a boat. The highlight of the trip was the "Ghost Town": The boat stopped miles away and you could see some empty hotels etc. far far away, this was made even better by captain Marco who screamed abuse and some political propaganda about the Turks and the American and British government into a microphone....I would say that was the highlight of the trip. He stopped twice for swimming, which made the trip even longer and chucked a loaf of bread into the water to feed some tiny fish. Would not do that again :-) !

Overall I have to say I am not sure, if I would go back to Ayia Napa. The beaches were lovely, the weather perfect, but except of partying and drinking there is very little to do and the prices are quite high. (Bottle of water over 1 euro, can of coke 1 euro, cocktails can be cheap, but just with local alcohol and they are very sugary, WIFI in hotel was very expensive, but Burger King next door had free WIFI)
If you are a group of young people, who want to party had: Go for it. If you are a family with kids: maybe pre- or after season, if you are in your 30ties and want to relax and experience culture, good food etc: there are probably better places to go to.

This hotel is VERY nice for Cyprus, compared to other 5* hotels we have stayed in whilst living in Cyprus this was definitely one of the Better ones! The reception is a great start its very open and light and clean! very trendy too!! We were then directed to our room and we were very happy with it. It was clean and well presented quite trendy and just like the pictures on the website which i think makes a change! The ONLY problem with our room was the air conditioning smelt AWFUL. Also they could do with making the patio doors on the balcony double glazing as its based in a very busy area and they have just reopened their bar called pepper at the front of the hotel so this is very loud at night.
We were the lucky ones who were in the superior rooms which were towards the rear of the hotel. Word of warning if you are going to book i would make sure that you say you do not want to be at the front of the hotel which is over a bar, a cafe/bar and a club!

The pool area is very nice and great drinks, there is no children allowed so its a very peaceful sunbathing area in the day. The breakfast has a large variety so plently for everyone, shame they water down the fruit juice though!

This is proberly one of the hotels we would go back to although we would proberly go for a junior suite or similar and ask for the rear of the hotel.

Ive been married 8 months now and feel its time to finally voice my warm felt gratitude to everyone at the Napa Plaza who helped contribute to our amazing wedding day.
We booked the Napa Plaza in Ayia Napa as it offered the most extensive wedding package and appeared incredible value for money in the brochure.

Our parents weren't looking forward to travelling to Ayia Napa for the wedding having seen all the bad press on tv about drunk and disorderly youths causing trouble etc and knowing the hotel was incredibly close to the central square we were initally dubvious, however when we arrived we couldnt of been more positively suprised by what we found.

The recent refurb was inkeeping with the local monastery but had a very modern twist with its clean, fresh lines and proved to be a very relaxing environment to be in by day and a trendy setting by night.
The superior rooms were more than adequate in quality and size, however the standard room occupied by our other guests was a little disappointing compared to quality of the rest of the hotel. It was obvious this block of rooms hadn't been refurbished and i felt were a little basic for the price paid. After the wedding we upgraded to one of the honeymoon suites which were huge, the jacuzzi bath and four poster bed certainly went down well with my husband.

The food quality and diversity offered was also very extensive and met most requirements however if things weren't available the staff were always on hand to provide a suitable alternative.

The cleanliness of the rooms, hotel and surrounding hotel grounds were second to none the pool area was regularly cleaned throughout the day and complementary clean towels were also provided throughout the stay.
A pleasant adjunct to the beautiful pool area was a well equipped gym and spa, an area which was utilised by some of our wedding guests and ourselves.

We originally had planned to marry in the local monastery however due to recent changes in local regulations this was no longer possible. It was suggested by the hotels relations manager Stephanie Evans we use the cloisters restaurant as its high beamed ceilings offered a similar surround for the service and the grounds of the monestry were used or all our photos. The pool deck area was used for the reception and offered exclisivity and cool beautiful surroundings.

Overall the service from the day we booked the wedding with the tour operator and began corespondance about our day, to the day we arrived and till the day we checked out including the arrival and departures of all our wedding guest was outstanding. Not only incredible value for money but we were made to feel extra special throughout our whole stay. Most staff showing genuine excitment for our forthcoming nuptuals. Stephanie evans and her team of staff did an amazing job coordinating our special day and they were on hand throughtout the whole day and evening making sure everything went off which out a hitch providing a service that was way beyond what i would of imagined.
i certainly wouldnt hesitate in recommending this hotel as a wedding venue or simply a honemoon destination to any couple with large or small parties. We loved it that much were returning this year to celebrate our first wedding anniversary as MR and MRS!!

Ayia Napa and the Napa Plaza has so much more to offer than just clubbing and is well worth a visit.

Having just returned from a 5 night trip to Aiya Napa for a Hen/Stag weekend, I cannot fault this hotel and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

The hotel is clearly the best for miles in the area, centrally located and clean. It is literally in walking distance of the beach, shops and nightlife.

The staff are more than welcoming, very service orientated and genuinely appear to enjoy what they do. Roula at the poolside bar was particularly friendly and helpful.
The prices are very reasonable and the breakfast was surprisingly good. The wait time on lunchtime food orders at the poolside area was unreasonably long, however we were in a large group which may explain the delay, but when the food arrived it was lukewarm and looked jetlagged.

There are a few odd elements to the hotel, for example there are in room safes present, but in order to use it - a 10 Euro deposit for the key must be paid - and a daily fee of 2Euro follows. Likewise there is a charge to use an iron, a charge to open the mini bar and a charge to rent the TV remote?! (I can only assume this is their proactive approach to some of the clientele they may anticipate staying at their hotel?) Girls, if you have wild hair - take your own hairdryer.... and note that there is no water pressure, the rain fall has a more powerful force.

There has been much noted about the noise of the bells from the church which is just at the back of the hotel - I would say that Quasi Modo had a point.... 'THE BELLS, THE BELLS' were just incredible! They literally render an afternoon nap, or sleep in - impossible! (unless of course you have been taking advantage of the drinks deals at the local clubs) Sunday morning is especially a treat, given that not only are the bells tolling for what seems like an eternity, you then get to experience the entire service (which lasted for what seemed over an hour) by loud speaker. I WOULD DEFINATELY SUGGEST EAR PLUGS if you are a light sleeper. At this hotel, it is unavoidable.

There is a distinct lack of Cypriot cuisine in the Aiya Napa area, if you like fried food - you will be in heaven as virtually everything comes with huge quantities of chips, (they certainly know their market) and would definately reduce Jamie Oliver to tears! Having trailed the streets in search of anything resembling a traditional taverna we were left very disappointed. We tried out some of the various restaurants in the area, and found Claribels to be very expensive and the quality of food quite disappointing, Sage and Liquid were particularly good, and offered a wide variety of choices, a five min walk from the hotel and actually featured vegetables other than the potato. I would avoid 'Odin' at all costs, the service and visual aspect of the food was great, but the taste left 14 out of 15 of us feeling queasy and cheated.

If cheesy, greedy nightlife is your thing - then you will have found your heaven, watch out for the costumed girls and boys who will attempt to drag you into their bar at any cost! Make sure you barter your deal on the street first before entering. And wine drinkers - forget it! This is purely a beer and cheap spririt town, and if you like Kareoke and fruity cocktails head for Tommys Bar on the corner.

If you are travelling in a group, I would definately suggest pre booking transport to and from the airport to the hotel, the average cab fare was 50EURO one way.

Lastly, as we visited quite early in the season, the weather hasnt quite kicked in, therefore a jacket is definately required for the evenings.

All in all, exactly what we had all anticipated, reasonably cheap and cheerful fun. Remember to pack your alka selzer!

Stayed for a week at the end of April.
Good impressions on arrival, clean, modern reception area, quick check in, then our bags were taken to our room by the porter.
We had a standard room at the back of the hotel, which was decently decorated. We had a TV, fridge, and hairdryer. The only complaint for the room was the lack of water pressure when having a shower. The maids came every day to clean the room.
The bells from the monastery are annoying as other people have stated, ringing at various times during the day.
We were disappointed to find Peppers bar and El Chihuahua -Tex mex closed. Peppers bar is being refurbished totally, and is expected to open on 15 May.
The weather was hot during the day but a little chilly in the evening, had a bit of rain on the last day, but it didn't last long.
Evenings were quiet, except Saturdays when the locals came out. Most restaurants and bars were open but they were quiet.
One complaint I have with the hotel was that on my wife's birthday the management posted a letter under our door offering us a free bottle of sparkling wine, but we would have to pay 36 euro for the meal, we never expected anything off the hotel, but we felt a bit insulted by this.
Overall a nice hotel in a good location, with friendly staff.
Would recommend Los Bandidos, Fiji, and Clarabells for meals.
We would stay here again.

We stayed here for 10 nights at the start of October. We got married at the amphitheatre (at the town hall) while we were there and the hotel staff were fantastic!! Stephanie helped a lot before we got there and when we arrived she was fab!

We booked a double superior room and when we arrived the room was really lovely. Very modern looking and plenty of space. Tea/coffee making facilities, toiletries were lovely and the towels and bed sheets were clean and soft! There is a tv for which you pay a 10 euro deposit at reception for the remote which you get back on return of the remote. The same with an iron, you can hire one for I think a 10 euro deposit and get this back on return of the iron. There is a safety deposit box in the room which we never used, we never had any problems with things going missing from our room and when we returned each day if anything money clothes etc had been left the maids had tidied them up for us!! We had a basket of fruit and a bottle of red wine in our room when we arrived which is a standard thing with the Napa Plaza. The day after we arrived we received a bottle of bubbly on ice and a vase of pink roses in our room because we were getting married a couple of days later. When in our room I needed a coat hanger to hang my wedding dress up high so any creases could drop out and the hangers in the wardrobe were specifically for the wardrobe so I could not use them. I called down to reception and in no time a member of staff arrived with a coat hanger and helped hang my dress up from the top of the mirror. Great service!! The only bad thing about our room was we were close to the church and some early mornings and I think late afternoons the bells started ringing which was a bit of a pain but we kind of got used to it!! There is also a very nice outside bar next to the hotel which plays music quite loud at night and you can hear but it isnt overly loud and was quite nice to fall to sleep to a song. Lol.

The pool area is very nice and chilled out and as it is an adult only hotel it was nice not to have screaming kids around, there were a few kids at some point but only about 4 and so they werent any trouble or noise. Getting a lounger by the pool could be a nightmare as people would do the typical towel on sunbed and go out for the whole day having no intention of using the beds!! Other than this the pool area was great. Another thing, you were able to swap a pool card you get given on check in for towels to use round the pool and when you want fresh ones you can go and swap them. Great!

We stayed on a b&b basis and the choice in the restaurant for breakfast was huge including scrambled, fried or boiled eggs!!! Not once did I have a bad breakfast!!

We used the internet while we were there for which you get a code from reception (not very expensive) and the computers are in the Peppers Bar. The Peppers Bar is a great place in the day to go and chill out with a book to take a break from the sun!! At night it becomes the local bar for the younger people of Ayia Napa and the music was very loud but we enjoyed sitting in there with a drink a couple of times.

There is also another bar on the front of Napa Plaza which is where we went after our wedding and had a few drinks - this is a bit more of a chillout cafe. There is also a nightclub but we never went while we were there.

The night of our wedding we had a candlelight meal courtesy of the hotel. They had set us a table up on the deck which was closed off to other guests (not sure if this is the norm) and they put us right on the corner overlooking the pool. The tables surrounding us had candles on them, it was very romantic. We had a 3 course mexican meal which was beautiful especially the dessert!!! YUM is all I can say. I think we paid for our own drinks, hubby had a beer and we had a bottle of water and I had a bottle of wine which we took to our room after. The waiter assigned to us was brilliant!!! Dont know his name though :(

We stayed in the honeymoon suite on our wedding night for about an extra 50 euros and the hotel also let us keep our superior room which was just down the corridor. The honeymoon suite was huge (there are 2 and I think the other is the size of a normal room but with more luxuries). There was a four poster bed (I have added pics not attached to this), a LCD tv with remote, iron and ironing board, comfy bathrobes, luxury toiletries, jacuzzi bath which is fab but noisy when you switch it on!! And the bed is so so comfy!! The pillows are very plumped and the sheets are very luxurious! We were sad the next day when we had to check out of the honeymoon suite. On the monring after our wedding we had breakfast in our room which was brought up by two staff, it was a couple of trays of various food including toast etc and hot drinks and a bottle of bubbly on ice!! We felt very spoilt and special!! Lol.

The hotels location is great for the square and it is a 10 min walk to the beach.

We would go back here in a heartbeat - LOVE LOVE LOVED it!!!!

Me and my partner stayed here last year in May. We were so impressed as it was a beautiful hotel in a really good location!

It's situated right next to the 'Aiya Napa Square' where you can find all of Aiya Napa's nightlife its around a good 20 minute walk from the beach but its a nice walk if that helps...

The hotel rooms were very simular to the type of hotel rooms you would see in one of the UK malmaison hotels...Lovely pool area (Nice & Quiet) would reccomend it to anyone
