“Great Family Fun”
Reviewed 4 January 2012

The Macronissos Vacation Club was great fun with a lovely swimming pool area and amazing entertainment team, the kids club was lovely to with loads of fun-packed activities. We booked this hotel with olympic holidays - acomodation only and booked our flights seperately which worked out much cheaper and you could chose flights to suit yourself. The price for acomodation only with olypmic was very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. You still get full use of the kids club etc for this price. We went self catering because we enjoy the local restaurants in the evening time. Its not cheap to eat out but the Olive Garden next to the hotel is a beautiful place to eat and relax in the evening before going back to the hotel for the entertainment. Overall this is a great place to visit - we have been to this area of cyprus 10 times now and 4 to this particular hotel - love it !!!

I thought the Macronissos Village a great place to have a really relaxing holiday. It is located about 3 miles outside Ayia Napa, in a quiet area close to the waterpark. Just a few shops/bars/restaurants nearby but buses into Ayia Napa every 20 mins (1euro), which also serve all the best beaches and continue to Protaras. If you are hiring a car, the hotel is also handily placed for the motorway junction.
The hotel consists of many bungalows and 2/3 storey blocks set in lovely gardens. All on the level and wheelchair access good. Bar, restaurant and pool are clustered in the centre. The pool is lovely but max 1.3 mtr deep so no diving. Also has a jaccuzzi. Rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable with huge balconies. They have a kitchen with fridge, kettle + toaster as S/C is also offered.
If you do go S/C the shop at the front of the hotel is very expensive. Worth going into Ayia Napa, which I found to be surprisingly nice and not at all what I expected. Lovely harbourside area. Much better exchange rates here too.
Bar entertainment is mainly disco, karaoke and bingo, which didn't suit some people but most seemed quite happy with it. Staff are all lovely and the drinks keep coming! Food choice is a bit limited as this is a fairly small hotel to be offering all/inc, but what there is is hot and tasty. Breakfast is great if you like your Full English!
A very pleasant place with great staff, peace and quiet, flowers, birds, and the biggest Geckoes I've ever seen!

Lovel hotel the service at the bar is exceptional. Food was of a good quality but could of done with a little more variety. Snacks at the bar were all really nice. A bit of a way out from Ayia Napa but a nice walk in or a short bus journey make it easy to explore. Great for visiting the waterpark as it is just a short walk away and you can always nip back to the hotel for lunch before returing to the water park. Throughly enjoyed the holiday.

Stayed here for my 21st birthday in september and it was amazing! There was only 2 of us so we wanted somewere we could sit and relax by the pool enjoy the entertainment at the hotel then go into town and it was perfect!

Food
The food was fine, i think there was a great choice of food,ok it did get a bit repetative however i dont see how you can complain there is lots to choose from!
Breakfast: Mainly the typical fry up & juice machine
Lunch: Chips burgers etc
Dinner: Everything different, mainly potatoes & always salad - one night we had a BBQ wich was really nice and ate outside,if you wernt all inclusive i think it was around £5Euro's

Drinks
We were all inclusive so we thought the drinks would be basic however we got a wide rang of drinks - Cocktails spiritz (local ones) and none alchaholic cocktails - the Mai Tai cocktail is lovley!

Entertainment
I was so amazed about this, to be honest i didnt even bother searching the entertainment at this hotel so when i was told there were Blue'sBrother's Michael Jackson & Parrot shows i was amazed! it was so good we stayed there untill 11pm/12pm and drank our moneys worth in all inclusive cocktails then went into napa!

Nightlife
As i said it was my 21'st we went into Napa town alot of the time and it was amazing! loads of bars and clubs and its not to rowdy as there were only2 of us we stil felt safe.
Loads of reps who will help you out and lots of good drink deals.. HOWEVER..

Teezers Dance Bar- What a con! Basicly the reps try and tell you if you buy any ONE drink you will get 10 free shots.. Wonderfull..But as you buy your drink you recieve the bill (there were no price lists anywere..but how much could One drink be?) Well.. 10 Euro's! so basicly you pay for the "free" shots. However we still had a great night there.

Buses
Ok so the buses stop outside a little tree outside the Hotel its on the Left, tbh we compleatly walked passed it the 1st night and had to get a taxi lol! in the dark its hard to find!
Its really convinent all othet times and its only a Euro each way, or 10Euros for a weekly pass wich is great value for getting out into the square at evenings, they run every 10 mins up untill i thnk its 4am wich was great!

Hotel,Pool & Rooms

Hotel was spotless, pool was beautiful! always cleaned and such a huge pool even if its packed time of the year theres loads of room for lilo's and chillling, theres even a jacuzzie wich was lovley to relax in, pool open untill 6.30pm.
Rooms
We had an apartment and it was HUGE! overlooking the pool area, always cleaned maids were lovley and even left us some flower's.

- Any age group will love this hotel, it was the best holliday ever and will return!
have fun! :)

Stayed here for a week in mid October as a last minute getaway. We got quite a good deal for the hotel and read all the reviews so knew not to expect a 5 star hotel! From arriving and checking in at the hotel it seemed nice, quiet and clean. We then took a walk through the 'village' and past the pool to find our room. We were in the block nearer the back of the pool but with nice views of the pool area from the balcony. The rooms were very basic and old fashioned. The bedsheets and other linen were well used... some with some fashionable holes in... !! The 'double bed' was two singles pushed together, which I find really frustrating as I always end up falling down the gap! Also they were quite uncomfortable but did the job. The rooms are no frills but functional. We didn't spend much time in the room so this didn't bother us too much and at the price we paid we thought it was to be expected. The pool area is lovely, we always had sunbeds even if we went there around mid morning, however, it was a quiet time of year, with only 2 weeks left of the season. We only ate at the hotel once which was a pizza and chips for lunch one day. It was fine. We heard many people complain about the all inclusive and were glad we hadn't chosen it! It seemed as though there was a minimal selection of food, with about 8 trays between everyone! Not what we would class as an all inclusive buffet! If you're planning to go self catering there are some fantastic restaurants around Ayia Napa and Protaras. We got the local bus everywhere, despite some uncertain residents you can get the bus directly outside the hotel (by the blue building - the bus sign is high up on the tree!!) and the bus stops at a similar place on the other side. Although sometimes you can be waiting 20-30 mins for a bus, the service is great for the price; we bought a €10 pass each that meant we could use it as much as we wanted for the whole week! Fantastic! We would recommend that EVERYONE tries Limelight - THE BEST Greek restaurant ever! We went for a meze - 20 courses of small Greek dishes, which was AMAZING! The restaurant is accessible by bus, if you're going from the hotel through Ayia Napa, stay on the bus past the square on your left, the bus will then turn right and it is on the corner of the next right turn - although the bus drivers are great, we asked them and they dropped us outside! Also, Georgias in Protaras, on the main strip a little way on the left if you're on the bus. Fantastic food, good price. We did the Troodos Mountain and Nicosia trip with Olympic, was good... some lovely views but I probably wouldn't do it again. Despite the tour guide telling us we wouldn't have time to pass through into the Turkish side, we took our passports and made it, with enough time to go across and still got to go up to the viewing floor of Debenhams. Depends what you're looking for in the Turkish side but there's not much there apart from the typical 'sporty' brands etc. The rest of the trips we did ourselves, we visited Protaras on the bus, Cape Greco, Nissi Beach, Macronissos beach and Konnos Bay. We only walked half the way to the most eastern point, then walked from there across to Konnos bay, which was a walk and a half but was brilliant as you get to go past the sea caves etc which would be difficult to see otherwise. Overall the hotel was fine, we didn't spend much time there so wasn't too bad, but normally when we go on holiday part of our photos will be room photos... we didn't feel the need to share the state of this room with our family and friends! Would definitely recommend the area, altho don't expect to be able to walk into Ayia Napa from this hotel as we were told it would take about an hour! If you're looking for a cheap holiday where you can spend most of your time out and about then it is fine, but don't go expecting pristine rooms and great all inclusive!

Just back from a fab week at Macronissos Village! I visited Macronissos with my partner (25) and 2 sons (3 years and 6 months) and we all loved it!
We were given a bungalow next to the pool and accross from the little park which my 3 year old was over the moon about! We found the bungalows to be very spacious and yes they are a little dated but when you are AI all you really do is sleep and shower in these rooms so that didn't bother us!!
The food is fine, i can be quite a fussy eater and i enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday! We also enjoyed the food from the snack bar especially the tuna toasties!! Drinks were good, nice selection of cocktails! The bar staff were all extremely friendly and ready and willing to get whatever you needed! Rob does a great job and works hard to keep everyone entertained!
There isn't much around the complex but it's only 2 euro's for a day ticket and about a 15 minute(if that) bus ride into Ayia Napa! It's a 10-15 minute walk to a lovely beach with watersports but buy your bucket and spades, inflatables etc from the shop at Macronissos and take them with you as it cost us 17 euros for a bucket, spade and watering can from the shop on the beach!!!
Overall we had a really good time and were genuinely sad to leave! The day we got back my 3 year old turned round and said 'Please can we go back to Cyprus tomorrow?' Within the first couple of days i could see why my other half's mum and her partner go to Macronissos twice a year and we can't wait to go again!!
