As far s we were concerned the accommodation was faultless. We had a recently decorated ground floor superior one bedroomed apartment, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Bed was comfortable and the shower was always hot and strong. Plenty of towel and linen changes, the maid was brilliant. There we a limited range of kitchen utensils but we but other than making sandwiches we ate out. Cannot comment on hotel food and only had a couple drinks in the bar which seemed reasonably priced. Reception staff were all very friendly and always helpful. Air conditioning and ceiling fans in lounge and bedroom were excellent and included in the price. There was an ironing board and very good iron as well as a strong hair dryer. Safe as 20 euros for 2 weeks and located behind reception area. Needed the room for 3 nights for our daughter to join us and only charged 15 euros per night. Late check out room as €20 and we had it until 7:30. We prefer the beach to poolside but there was always beds and umbrellas available even in late August but it seemed a little quiet. Sunbed on beach were €2.50, the beach is about a 15min walk away. There were several mini markers nearby but quite pricey, as are all in Asia Napa.

Room Tip: Need to be in newer blocks at rear of complex

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and can honestly say is the worst hotel we have stayed at in 20 years: definitely overpriced for what it is: self catering staying in a supposedly superior room, no microwave 2 hobs but you could only use 1 at a time, not enough glasses for 4 people. No hairdryer in rooms have to ask, Entertainment poor on a night same each night bingo karaoke. Reception staff unhelpful requested to have late check out on room asked 3 days before wouldn’t let us know until night before left even though hotel was obviously hardly full. Also major concern at a weekend pool became full of locals concerning seeing no security to stop this, when you have paid 1000’s for facilities they allow anyone off street to use for free. Felt more like a motel than a holiday village cannot comment on food as did not use but reports not good from other guests would advise to think twice about booking this hotel

We stayed at the Makronisos for a week, 8 of us in our party in 2 bungalows. The accommodation is lovely - please don’t knock it down and build a hotel, it would definitely spoil a beautiful place. Frosa on reception is wonderful, in fact all the staff were lovely. The supermarket staff are brilliant and very helpful. The Garden of Eden restaurant was fab, the food and staff are spot on. We really had a wonderful holiday and would definitely return as long as you don’t spoil it by knocking the bungalows and gardens down to build a monstrosity of a hotel!

We had a lovely holiday at Makronissos Village in August 2018.

The large car park to the rear was a great feature since we hired a buggy and we could park there with plenty of space for free. An English bar is a few minutes walk away and there are plenty of small supermarkets nearby including the one outside the front door. The beach is a 15 minute walk and is pretty busy but there are beaches all up the road so well worth it for a bit of a walk. Bus stops are very close to the resort (101 & 102 buses) very cheap and gets you from the water park (15 minute walk from Makronissos) right through Ayia Napa, Protoras and Paralimni. Single trip and day tickets are available and run until 4am.
Plenty of excursions for people to enjoy and the three wheel scooters can be hired near Landa beach which are fantastic to travel about on! Really good fun.

In the hotel the pool is a good size and more often than not you can easily get a sunbed throughout the day.
Pool bar is lovely, serve food throughout the day on request and staff are brilliant! Cocktail menu is good too!
The restaurant has plenty of seats, we stayed for 2 weeks all inclusive and never had to wait for a table.
Breakfast is average,
Lunch is better and dinner is best! A different cuisine every night of the week including BBQ, Greek, Asian, Italian & Latin. Something for everyone and the usual chips served daily.
The restaurant and bar staff are fantastic! They really go out of their way to look after you! Almost always greeted with a smile!
The same staff work in the Garden of Eden restaurant next door (20% discount for Makronissos guests) and it is wonderful! Good quality food at decent prices and the service is great! Would recommend the meat meze for 2 + people *****!

The hotel rooms are spacious, all rooms have balconies including a patio area for ground floor rooms. Air con is great for hot nights but we found when we arrived that the fob for electrics (air con) and key are attached so rooms are pretty hot when you’re out all day. Probably to save on costs if people leave them on all day, understandable!

We were given the impression that the bar/ restaurant is part of Garden of Eden with the same owner but not the same as the hotel (rooms & reception) if this is the case it absolutely reflects in the service for the rooms and in reception.
The cleaners do not provide new towels or sheets daily, not a problem in my eyes but having the same towels for 3+ days and the same sheets throughout our 2 week stay was a bit poor for me. We were told towels would be changed every other day, this was not always the case. I called reception to ask for fresh towels and the lady was very rude, I was told they are not changed daily and I should not expect that but as a good will gesture she would talk to housekeeping to give me fresh towels that day.
The cleaners did not seem happy, not one of them smiled or spoke except when another room asked if the cleaner could return in 10 minutes whilst he gets dressed and he will get out of the way for them to clean, she replied No and walked away.
I asked for them to leave our room one day because my partner was unwell and did not want to be disturbed, she sighed, gave me the foulest look and walked past me.

The service in reception was the same; they kept our passports on the first night to check them which is fine but they were only placed in a cubby hole next to the desk and when we retrieved them the receptionist did not check they were ours and just handed them over, we were in a group and more than one of our rooms asked for others and there were no questions about it! Good job we’re all friends and not thieves. We also asked for a spare key to our friends room and without any proof of who we were she handed over a key to the room, not exactly security conscious. In addition, luggage can be left at reception and when we asked if it was secure the receptionist replied “nothing has ever happened before”,
Did not fill me with much faith.

I went to ask about late checkout since our flight out was 10:30pm and I approached the desk with 2 receptionists who were talking amongst themselves, looked at me and then carried on talking without a second glance at the guests waiting to be served. When I finally got an answer I was told to return 24 hours prior to our checkout, what she actually meant was 6pm the day before we checkout but by this time we could not have a late checkout because others in our group have already asked and we would have to share with them, this wouldn’t have been a problem but the room she advised us to share with already had 2 adults and 2 children (1 three-month old baby) which was never going to work, the rooms are spacious but not that spacious, we’d be tripping over one another!
The receptionist did not want to help in the slightest, we were a burden to them not a customer. Very unhappy with the service received from them.
Unbelievable how different the restaurant and reception service is, one extreme to the other.

Overall, we had a very good holiday, Cyprus is a beautiful place with lovely people. Famagusta’s view point is a fascinating experience and an interesting place to visit either by boat or road.
I would absolutely recommend Cyprus and the Garden of Eden owners to anyone. We will return to Cyprus but not to the Makronissos Village unfortunately.

We are currently staying at the Makronisos holiday village and I must say it’s a fantastic place. The village is immaculate, lots of beautiful trees and flora, very well maintained, the Appartment that we are staying in, the superior appartment is amazing, spacious, very modern, and it’s like home from home, equipped with all the necessities, even an iron and ironing board, hairdryer. The maid service is brilliant they come in on a daily basis, fresh linen and towels, and floors mopped and sweeper every day. The pool area is fantastic, clean, lovely comfortable sun loungers and parasols, and no trouble whatsoever in being able to get one. The food here is delicious and plenty of choice, all the staff here are lovely, very friendly and helpful, nothing to much trouble. Reception area lovely and receptionists are very friendly and helpful. Entertainment is good and something for everyone, kids reps are fantastic. There is disco, parrot shows, quiz nights, bingo and karaoke. The drinks are a very good price. On site there is also a lovely supermarket and very good,as stock is plentiful, great prices, and again staff here are lovely. On the main road there is a regular bus service 101 and the 102 and the fares into ayia napa are only €1.50. The bus service is every 20mins and starts to run early in the morning until the early hours. The beautiful makronisos beach is only a 10min walk away, and is stunning. All in all Makronisos is a great place to stay, I would highly recommend this. Shall be returning without a doubt.
