We were greeted by a very nice lady who gave us a quiet room on the top floor, just as we requested..the room was cleaned daily and the food had plenty of choice.

Before going we had read reviews about turnstiles and self service drinks but this really isn't a problem. All in all this is a value for money hotel in a fabulous location.

Our biggest bug bear is the selfish people who lay their towels down and disappear for hours. Shame on them, if we all used a sun bed when we needed there would be enough for everyone, however the beach was much nicer than sitting with mean spirited folks.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and it's staff.thank you Don Pedro

just returned from don pedro, and this hotel takes some beating,i am a pensioner and now my hobbys are holidays, and i can honestly say its one of the cleanest hotels have been to,The food is lovely the dinning room spotless, the waiters are very helpfull, lovely scenery, the reason i put very good and not excellent is,nothing for kids [although i heard its pending] and the enertainment needs updating-other than that go-you will enjoy.

Room Tip: if you like lazing round the pool, get a room overlooking the pool, then you can see how many people wait for tthe cleaners to finish and rush for a sun bed and shade-are you one of these.

Stayed July 2014...

This is a great hotel located in a picturesque location.
Transfer from the airport was straightforward and took 55 minutes. Check in was speedy and efficient. Our room was on the 4th floor and the sea view was the best we have ever had on any holiday. Room was comfortable, with small but adequate balcony and cleaners did a great job every day.
Air conditioning in the room was useless. We were there during two very hot weeks and it was warmer inside the room than outside, making it almost impossible to sleep! It was explained to me by a regular visitor that this is because the fourth floor rooms are immediately under the hotel's flat roof. Evidently the third floor rooms are the ones to request.

Air conditioning elsewhere in the hotel is not good.
In the evening, when there is entertainment inside and it's crowded the temperature is unbearable. Also, the dining experience can be uncomfortable, again due to poor air conditioning. Several people had complained about how hot it was in the hotel and we were informed that the proposed refurb would hopefully rectify this issue. I wander why no other reviews mention this?
There is a flat screen TV in the room but it doesn't receive even one basic English news channel and is useless.

All inclusive drinks were help yourself and what you would expect at a three star. Bar service was available from inside (passing through the turnstile) where Cava, spirits and other drinks were available. One nice touch is that buffet snacks are available when the restaurant is closed - very welcome if you had skipped a meal.

The local bus takes you into Puerto Pollenca for €1.5 and takes about 15 minutes. We visited the Wednesday market and then travelled on into Alcudia which costs another €1.55. Lovely ride.

It's all been said in other reviews about the sun beds and the turnstiles at the bar, but we didn't find this much of a problem. There are two beaches adjacent to the hotel, the better one, Cala Barques is to the left, a short walk down a few steps. A sign outside the terrace bar advises that it is "against Spanish Law" to take drinks and bottles down to the beach. Most people ignored this and openly carried full plastic cups down to the beach.

There is another great beach, The Cala Molins which is about a 5 minute walk from the Don Pedro. You can either take the road which is slightly longer route or go down the steep steps from the Carrer Temporal. The Molins Bar is adjacent to the beach and reasonably priced (pint of lager and a white wine for €7.25). Great place to chill out with lovely views of the cove.

The hotel also discourages the taking of food and drink to your rooms, but again many ignored the rule as did we!

Guests from the nearby Sima Hotel visit frequently to use the bar and entertainment facilities at the hotel and it does cause overcrowding at times meaning that there are often no seats available in the evening on the outside terrace.
Frequently the bar was overcrowded as the staff clearly cannot cope with the evening surge of visitors.

In summary, a great holiday and would not hesitate to recommend the Don Pedro. Staff are friendly and the entertainment team work very hard under the guidance of Tom to ensure you have a good time.
Minor niggles: Wi-Fi is free downstairs (when they remember to turn it on) but very slow, and Face Time on the iPad was a struggle. Finally, please could the restaurant supply a few egg cups for those who like a boiled egg at breakfast. I asked the head waiter twice, and did not know if they had any!

The problem with the air conditioning is the only reason why I will not book again at the Don Pedro. It's still a great hotel though and represents excellent value for money.
We spoke to many holidaymakers who return year after year to this hotel so obviously Don Pedro ticks a lot of boxes for a lot of people!

I look forward to reading next year's reviews concerning the refurbishment.

Room Tip: Third floor room in main hotel (not the annexe) request a sea view

We recently spent a week here, and were pleasantly surprised as this hotel was only given a 3* rating....Room was basic, but clean....Food was excellent....Amenities were limited, but that is why we booked this place....Staff were friendly, polite & helpful....Scenery was stunning....If you are looking for a relaxing, chilled out holiday away from the commercialisation of most resorts, then we would highly recommend this one....Pollensa & Alcudia are readily accessible for those who want to shop

Room Tip: We were in room 108 which was level with pool, which was in front of our balcony. Noise was not an issue as pool area was only open between 9am-7pm

Lovely hotel stunning location.Wifes on a gluten free diet and the chef always made sure there was something for her to eat even cooking something specially for her. There aren't many hotels that would go to that trouble. Yes the turnstile was a pain but using the exit to get in the bar was far more successful! . Not sure yet of the upgrade, we were told that it was going to be 4 star plus. Hope that they don't over price as a result.
Rooms clean and tidy and cleaned everyday. Entertainment team were amusing with some silly games and quizzes but gave it there all.
Your holiday is what you make it and this hotel goes a long way towards a good break.
Hope to see you again soon.
