we stayed at the Don Pedro hotel in cala san vicente majorca in oct 2009 for one week.
it is the second time we have been to this resort and knowing it we were not expecting much as it is generaly a very quiet resort. But we were very pleased when we stayed at this hotel the staf were very polite and helpfull.the rooms were cleaned every day,and although it was a 3 star hotel the standard was good.the restraunt staff were very efficient and the choice of food was excellent as was the quality .. to sum it up for a all inclusive hotel EXCELLENT VALUE and well worth a visit

Good value for money (we are independent travellers). However, the all inclusive culture tended to attract the more boisterous travellers. The hotel is in a lovely spot and the value for money cannot be faulted.

My daughter and I stayed at the Don Pedro from September 29th-October 6th,on 28th,the day before our arrival, this beautiful little resort had an almighty storm, but debris was cleared, and the sun came out, and apart from showers on Tuesday, and a little on Wednesday the weather was glorious.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, food excellent ,and our room was spotless. The selection of soft drinks, alcohol and beverages were all there and more,as in your choice of menu selection, for each meal, and then of course the snacks.... if you can manage them.
Daily maid service, safety deposit boxes in the room, and entertainment in the hotel every night, also 2 pools.
There are 2 beaches, small ones either side of the hotel, although we preferred the 3rd Cala Molins beach, which is sandier.
The scenery in, and surrounding Cala San Vincente is stunning, somewhere artists and authors would visit,it really is a gem, very Spanish and charming, but if you're looking for clubs and nightlife then this isn't for you ,it's a relaxing holiday hotel where you can truly unwind. It is hilly so if you have problems walking then this probably isn't for you either.
The Don Pedro really is exceptional value for money, with friendly and helpful staff.
Probably the best recommendation comes from some of the people we met, who have been coming back year after year, anything from 5 to 15 years ,any hotel that entices the same guests to return regularly is obviously doing something right .
If you walk around the resort, and a little beyond, you can find some real gems,a privately owned collection of classic cars, they were something else,an Irish Bar with Del Boy Trotter's yellow Reliant outside..yes really!!The donkeys and the pigs roaming, the goats in the hills who keep wandering down in their search for food, some beautiful architecture,a charming and chic resort, whose residents invite you to sample briefly their lifestyle, and culture.
I have no hesitation in recommending the Don Pedro, and the resort of Cal San Vincente, and yes we shall be returning next September, taking a few extra family members with us.

A great hotel for the money! (£420 all inc for 1 week).
Basic "safe" hotel food but plenty of choice and a good range of local booze.
Rooms average size but kept clean on a daily basis.
The pool is a little on the small side but the overwhelming positive of the hotel is the location: nestling in a shallow valley it's sea facing rooms (which are the majority) command spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding cliffs,
I wouldn't recommend the hotel for people with very young children as the rocky frontage next to the sea could prove a nightmare.

The previous reviews of the hotel were very good so we were looking forward to it - However when we got there it was the holiday from hell !!
We arrived around 9pm on Monday 14th September for a 10 day stay with our 19 month old son and grandpartents, the first problem we encountered was the room we were given overlooked the main entrance to the hotel 1 room had 4 beds and ours had 4 beds and a cot NOT what our travel agents asked for. We were then offered the annex building it was worse entry via fire escape one room ok other had 2 floding style beds and a rusty fridge so we declined then offered 2 seaview rooms with one bathroom between 5 said no then offered last 2 rooms in the hotel they had pool views so we accepted. However the cot in our room you had to be careful with as the wheel fell off when moved - no wonder my son never liked spleeping in it.
If you get bad weather during your stay like we did and you have children with you do not stay at this hotel, there is no entertainment for children apart from a small overpriced arcade, we were very bored and had to try and please our 19 months old son as we had around 5 days of torrential rain and storms.
ALL TRAVEL AGENTS should review the bookings for this hotel, they have mixed two cultures with limited success, almost 50% of the guests were Polish or other nationalities and 50% British, we found that whilst the British would queue to be served at the bar or at the free bus stop the other nationalities would just barge in to the front, certain members of the staff at the bar would ignore you at times in order to serve the Polish even if they were behind you. Some of the Polish would even shove you even holding young children to get what they wanted, not very nice. The Thomas Cook rep even complained to their rep and said if they were Thomas Cook clients they would have been asked to leave the Hotel but she wasn't interested.

The food in general was good the first half of our holiday then it got very repetitive the second half with nothing for the children to eat alot of the time, we even struggled to eat as it just looked horrible. It was that bad my son had a spring roll and a slice of cold meat for his dinner and a pudding as the food was that bad - he hates chips.

They only things I can say that was nice about the hotel was the view, and all the nice couples we met - like Carl, Carol & Chelsea then Beth Ben and Ella and also two other couples whoever I can only remember their childrens name which where India & Darcey. If we hadn't met them the holiday would have been worse. We also meet two girls from Port Glasgow who also wished they had never booked this hotel. The worst thing was the Polish thought it was and 18 to 30 holiday and treated the hotel was if it was and unfortunately nobody in the hotel cared.
Also there is nothing to do in the resort - we knew it was quiet not a near ghost town.

we arrived at don pedro on the 15th september. the weather was warm but not sunny. me and my partner are picky eaters (only eat chicken meat.) the chips where always un-cooked, and there was not alot of variety. we had a nice room but the cleaners never swept the floor. it rained alot through the night and leaked in through the door, so the cleaners would soak it up with the towels leaving us with one towel between us. the entertainment was the same everynight, it would start with a mini quiz then bingo then a show. i must say the animation staff were really good. i also rented a car through the tour rep, she guarentted me it was a promotion and it would be 94 euros for 3 days but as we got home the company had taken £159. thomas cook say this is not there problem. i will not be going again.
