Travelled with my wife to celebrate our 30th Anniversary April 2014..Having stayed in and around Roses with our family when they were younger and with friends 12 years ago We were delighted to find Roses still the same value for money and unchanged by commercialism resort...
This hotel is in a fantastic position right on the beach and promenade... We were upgraded on our arrival without asking or charge to a beautiful room with a balcony and sea view..
The hotel was spotless and gave the feeling of a much higher star than the 3 stars it shows..
The staff were very friendly and multilingual..
Most of the guests were French or Spanish with very few English or German which we were expecting having stayed in this resort before..
The food was buffet style and the choice was adequate for the very reasonable price paid for half board.. Had the quality and choice of food been even better then this hotel should be awarded a 4 star rating without a doubt.. However the food was acceptable did not spoil our stay...
This hotel is owned by the Prestige group and there are about another 4 hotels in Roses run by this group.. We stayed at the Victoria at the other end of the promenade about 12 years ago with some friends and again we couldn't fault the hotel for service and value for money...
I would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again, in fact we are hoping to return at the beginning of October with some friends slightly out of season again when you can get some great deals with this hotel and some great weather in a great resort...

Room Tip: Always worth paying extra for a sea view in this hotel, you won't be disappointed..

I was part of a large group at Christmas 2013. I almost did not book the trip because of some of the hotel reviews. However my own experience was very different. Our room was large enough, scrupulously cleaned every day, towels changed every day, linens after three days. Reception very helpful with information and numerous key cards. Even provided an extension cord. Food plentiful and good standard. Christmas lunch superb. For a 3 star hotel, I could ask for no more. Lovely seA view.

This hotel is excellently situated just a few minutes walk out of the town centre. It is right next to the beach and has its own grassy sunny/shaded area with sun loungers separated from the hotel by the public Esplanade, but adjoining the beach.
The hotel has spacious public areas - friendly multilingual reception staff, large bar, inside and outside lounges and an entertainment room - music/dancing most nights. The guest rooms are large and well equipped, including a small fridge. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was quiet making for good nights for a very light sleeper ! The bathroom was large and well lit with plenty of hot water at all times. Our room and all the public areas were very clean and even though our visit was in October at the end of the season the décor looked bright and newly decorated. The two lifts are quite small, but we never had to wait long to use them.
The hotel has a swimming pool, but it is quite small, glassed over, set at the back of the hotel next to the car park.
Front rooms overlook the Esplanade/Sea, (some are above the Entertainment room) and many of the side rooms also have sea views. The back rooms overlook one of the main routes into town, but it is not a busy road at night. These rooms have extensive countryside views.
Meals were fantastic. On half-board accommodation we enjoyed a superb range of food for breakfast and dinner - served buffet style, and the quality of the food was first class. The style of dishes varied each night with some regional dishes, and there was plenty of it. As soon as a dish started to run down it was replenished. You could eat very healthily, or indulge in "chips etc." if that was your choice. Our meal ticket included free wine with our evening meal - not expensive wine, but very acceptable.
Roses is quite a large resort with plenty to see and do, though for more than a week you might want to hire a car as the bus service is quite restricted. It is NOT a "fish & chips Costas resort" There are several worthwhile boat trips, and all water sports at the northern and southern ends of the bay. The beach is sandy, extends for over a mile and is cleaned daily. A wide Esplanade provides very pleasant flat walking in both directions from the hotel. The town is set between the sea and steep hills behind, the lower slopes of which have villas. A land train - The Roses Express has several routes to choose from which will take you up into the hills with superb views down over the resort.(A tip - sit towards the back of the train as it does sometimes emit black smoke/smelly fumes).
This hotel is part of the Prestige Group. We were impressed with the staff, service and particularly the food making for a very comfortable and relaxed holiday. Fantastic value for money and we will use them again.

Room Tip: Side rooms with a sea view will be quieter than front sea view rooms or back country view rooms.

Just back from here after a week's package with Treyn, and I was very pleased indeed with the hotel - so clean and staff helpful, with the young manageress keen to please. I thought they were pretty imaginative with the food - they would give plenty of choice, and it was different every night - eg sauteed cauliflower delicious. Plenty of fruit and salads. When a dish ran out, staff were so quick to replace it. Also despite the fact that it was busy, they had a workable system of asking groups to eat a slightly different times so that it was never a scrum for the food. Entertainment every night if you want it.

Any negatives? The majority of people were "mature", and the pool was indeed in a rather odd location, but a wonderful beach was on the doorstep ( stunning location) , so a pool wasn't an issue with us - it may be for families. No tea /coffee facilities in rooms but that is normal I think - and prices were very reasonable in the bar.

Hotel is situated on beach - ideal for people with mobility issues. Staff are helpful and friendly. They helped me gain wifi access on my ipad. Food buffet style - plenty of it. Salads delicious. Rooms spacious, clean and well serviced. Furniture and furnishings are of high quality - colour scheme and pictures along corridors are beautiful.

We found the hotel was very much to our taste. The staff were excellent and so helpful. We were on full board and asked for a picnic as we were spending the day in Perpignan. Even though we had missed the dead line for ordering we were still given our picnics. I only heard one couple moan about the hotel and Their arguments were just fatuous. Would definitely come again.

This is a hotel that has one of the best locations in Roses. You will walk out the hotel straight onto the beach. You will sit on the terrace with a glass of local Catalonian wine watching people walking into Roses town, listening to the sea break upon the shore. In the evening the entrainment will have a distinctly Spanish flavour. So, what could be possibly a problem?

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel, the last time was in 2007. The décor has not changed and is beginning to look tired. We have a teenage daughter and booked a family room, which was really a standard room with a sea view for two people. It was therefore too small! and we felt a little exploited. The moral of the story is book two rooms, however this will put your cost up. And this is not an inexpensive hotel.

The food is buffet style and of an acceptable quality. We had half board the hotel was flexible about whether you took lunch or dinner. This is an advantage because you are able to therefore choose when and where you had your other meal. Roses and the surrounding area has a lot of good and mediocre restaurants. The staff working in the bar and restaurants were accommodating providing good service, they were even happy to improve my Spanish!

Some of the reception staff were overly officious. For example, a person left their shorts with wallet in the bathing area. My wife took the shorts to the reception, still in her bathing costume. Only to be told she should not enter this area unless she was properly dressed. I think thank you was the better approach.

The pool is small and badly positioned. Some thought might be given to the positioning of a new pool to make this hotel more competitive. The hotel next door has a pool on the roof perhaps a consideration. The rate for the rooms and quality offered is not sufficient however. This will become an issue for the hotel in the future.

During our stay, we only heard English on one other occasion. The guests were mainly Spanish or French. We enjoy this holiday environment, however this might not be for everyone.

We enjoyed our stay however felt that the rate for the room and its size were far too expensive, In fact upon checking on their website we were over charged.

Room Tip: Avoid sea view rooms 110, 210 and 310 because the balcony is overlooked by next doors toilet.
