“Great apart from food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014

Just back from a lovely holiday in Spain organised through Treyn Holidays. St Pancras by Eurostar to Paris then by high speed TGV to Spain - great. Coral Platja was splendidly located right on the promenade. Wonderful beach; good room with balcony and sea view. Loved it and well recommended. Unfortunately the only disappointment was the food. Served buffet style at breakfast and dinner but very little variety during the week and completely incapable of keeping food warm let alone hot. TIP: put your tepid food onto your plate and then locate the microwave close to the toaster. 2 minutes in microwave greatly increases the heat. Would be 4 star hotel if they could solve the food issue.

Room Tip: get a room with a balcony

Stayed here for 7 nights in early May. We were in an excellent room with a view of the sea. The hotel is very well located on the sea front overlooking the beautiful Bay of Roses and only a short walk to the centre of the town. Food was very good, a self serve buffet with lots of choice - and far too much to eat! Staff were helpful and friendly, all with good english. Rooms kept very clean, towels changed every day ( even tho we tried to say we could manage without an every day change).
Free wifi, but only in reception - would have been good to access that in the room.
Overall very good value for money.
Resort is very good, with an amazing old citadell just across the road from the hotel. Remains of greek, roman and medieval occupation, wonderfully preserved. A must see on a trip here!

Room Tip: Maybe noisy from road at rear of hotel

I stayed here for a short trip and was impressed from the moment of arrival. The reception staff were cheerfull and helpful and similarly the restaurant staff. The breakfast buffet is varied and will suit most tastes. The covered pool was warm even in mid season. An enjoyable break.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms have lovely views though I recommend being on the second floor or higher to limit...

We travelled as a group and were really well accommodated. The position is terrific, right on the front. In summer it will only be a short step to swim in the sea. I only paddled in April! The swimming pool was hotter than the bath water on the first two days, but gradually the pool became much more temperate. Despite the fact that I don't like buffet meals, the food was really very good. The fried eggs at breakfast were
superb. Occasionally the food ran out before being topped up, but that is a minor niggle. The staff were very good and helpful. I would go again.

We stayed for 9 nights in this hotel. The view from our balcony of the Bay of Roses was beautiful. The staff were very helpful, especially reception. The room was well cleaned, but needed a little maintenance. There was a wet patch on the bedroom ceiling as we were on the 4th floor; it needed a lick of paint. The shower fitment was coming away from the wall and was better hand held so that we did not flood the bathroom. The new double glazed patio doors were VERY stiff and difficult to push open and shut. There was a flat screen television in the room with numerous channels. We could not find an English one, the news would have been useful. The food in the dining room offered good choices with several theme nights. It was fairly basic, but for the price we paid was fine. There was entertainment most nights. Although not our sort of thing, it is good to have the choice. We were in a sea view room overlooking the wooden Bridge, it was noisy. Numerous bikes, roller skaters, skate boarders, joggers and others made use of it from 7am. The air conditioning had not been switched on in the hotel and as the room was very hot we did have to leave the balcony door open overnight. The position of the hotel was great, just a short walk into Roses. There is a great selection of bars, restaurants and shops, do try the Spanish ones. We loved Bar Antonio in El Figueres off the Avinguda DE Rhode, which was a 5 minute walk from the hotel. This is a family run Tapas bar and he even has his own red Rioja wine made for him, which was excellent. Such lovely, friendly people with great food. We would however consider staying at this hotel again as it was good value for money.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper we agree that it may be better to have a side room view of the sea due to...

Travelled with my wife to celebrate our 30th Anniversary April 2014..Having stayed in and around Roses with our family when they were younger and with friends 12 years ago We were delighted to find Roses still the same value for money and unchanged by commercialism resort...
This hotel is in a fantastic position right on the beach and promenade... We were upgraded on our arrival without asking or charge to a beautiful room with a balcony and sea view..
The hotel was spotless and gave the feeling of a much higher star than the 3 stars it shows..
The staff were very friendly and multilingual..
Most of the guests were French or Spanish with very few English or German which we were expecting having stayed in this resort before..
The food was buffet style and the choice was adequate for the very reasonable price paid for half board.. Had the quality and choice of food been even better then this hotel should be awarded a 4 star rating without a doubt.. However the food was acceptable did not spoil our stay...
This hotel is owned by the Prestige group and there are about another 4 hotels in Roses run by this group.. We stayed at the Victoria at the other end of the promenade about 12 years ago with some friends and again we couldn't fault the hotel for service and value for money...
I would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again, in fact we are hoping to return at the beginning of October with some friends slightly out of season again when you can get some great deals with this hotel and some great weather in a great resort...

Room Tip: Always worth paying extra for a sea view in this hotel, you won't be disappointed..

I was part of a large group at Christmas 2013. I almost did not book the trip because of some of the hotel reviews. However my own experience was very different. Our room was large enough, scrupulously cleaned every day, towels changed every day, linens after three days. Reception very helpful with information and numerous key cards. Even provided an extension cord. Food plentiful and good standard. Christmas lunch superb. For a 3 star hotel, I could ask for no more. Lovely seA view.
