“Short break between Spain and France”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

Stayed 2 nights en route from Spain to France and was a good base to visit Cadaques and the other little bays in the area. Good restaurants and bars close by down the front and lovely view of the bay from the room. Good safe parking. Breakfast was typical buffet with a frantic style as everyone scurried around fetching their coffee etc! Breakfast area and bar very modern and clean.

Room Tip: If you can get a room on the front the views are excellent

We stayed in this hotel 1 night for weekend. Hotel needs to be renovated asap. Rooms are large enough but outdated. The biggest problem was the air of the room was humid. Sheets were wet all the time. The staff could be more warm and friendly. I was disappointed about breakfast there was not lots of options. The location is good, it is in front of the beach however there is no pool. You will see the pool in the pictures, in reality it is on the size of a Jacuzzi.

Spent 5 nights at the Maritim in Roses. 3 star hotel literally on the beach. Room was on the side and had an amazing view of the Bay of Roses. Food was excellent.
I'm not usually a lover of Half Board but the Evening meal was excellent. Always a really good and unlimited choice of salad for starters, or soup, one night smoked salmon, another pate with toast, or prawns in shells. Always fresh, frequently refreshed. Main meal consisted of meat, fish veg, potatoes, different each night plus one or two dishes fresh cooked on the hob. Examples being Sirloin steak, fish, swordfish, pork etc. Extensive unlimited choice of deserts, always Creme Catalan, Fresh fruits, Ice Creams plus other offers including delicious poached pear.
Tables cleared every time you moved by attentive friendly staff. Local wine 8Eu a bottle.

Lots of space to park your car, hotel has own car park, space to park on road and also next to free public car park
WiFi worked quite well except on the balcony

Breakfast was also good 8-11 so time for that lie in, again freshly cooked eggs on an individual basis or omelette cooked in front of you by one of the friendliest people I've ever been served by
Great place to stay and now tempted to go back there

Room Tip: We were on the Town side with a lovely view. Sun however passed at 1pm, so if you want sun all day y...

I can't complain at the price of this hotel, even in the off season. I was slightly disappointed to get a twin room rather than a double when I had been specifically asked on my requirements. The hotel is smart inside and looks fairly luxurious. The rooms are reasonable but we didn't have air conditioning and it was fairly warm still! The swimming pool advertised is also only available if you pay a surcharge of about 15 Euros per person per day which I wasn't too pleased about but it wasn't a huge issue as we were only staying one night.

The staff were pleasant but unfortunately couldn't arrange breakfast for us as we had an early start.

If you are on a short trip this hotel is ideal but you may need to check your requirements.

I was very annoyed upon checking in that I was in a room with 2 twin beds after I had specified in my reservation that I was on my honeymoon. Fortunately it was the off season and I was able to upgrade, but I felt like I was forced into buying a higher priced room because of their mistake.

Beachfront view is spectacular, probably the closest you will get to the water in Roses. Pool was clean and modern, but small, and cold in the off season. Rooms were clean and spacious, bathrooms clean and modern, and the whole place has recently been updated. Elevators were a nightmare (small, doors closing randomly, broken electronics) and I ended up taking the stairs every time despite being 6 months pregnant.

Breakfast was nothing to speak about, except the fresh-cooked egg station. Dinner was a disappointment--awful cafeteria style food. The only people who would like it are elderly people with digestive problems who can only eat soft, salt-less food. Which is perfect because the place was over-run with bus loads of retirees. Not sure if it's less geriatric in the summer months, but we are 30, and felt very out of place on our honeymoon.

Room Tip: Specify beach front in your reservation, then CALL to follow up.

We visited this hotel for a week from 15th September 2013 on a Half Board Basis and due to the Hotel's age we were a little apprehensive when we booked but we were pleasantly suprised. The Hotel is bright, clean and modern although small. Our room was on the 4th floor and although not front facing, we had a fabulous view overlooking the bay. The balcony was quite small but enough room for a table and two chairs. There was no English TV channels which was a little dissappointing but then again we were on holiday, so who needs TV?! An airer on the balcony would have been useful to be able to dry out our beach towels etc.but the bathroom towels were changed daily which was great. The safe was 10 euros for the week.
The food was good but I thought the evening dinner slot was a little tight (from 8pm - 9.30pm) as the Hotel was full and we had to wait for a table several nights but not for very long. The lady who cooks your fresh breakfast omelettes in the mornings and the freshly cooked meat or fish in the evenings was so lovely, I didn't get her name but one morning she cooked me a fried egg in the shape of a flower and she chatted to us every day, she is a very nice lady and its things like this that make a difference. All of the staff in the dining room were polite and efficient.
There was entertainment in the Hotel every night but we didn't get a look in as the seats were taken up very quickly however there is another quiet room above with views over the bay and a pool table. We preferred to walk along the promenade after dinner.
We hired a car so visited lots of places in the area, I would thoroughly recommend a visit inland to Besalu, what an absolute fabulous historical town. Have a google! We also drove up to the boarder between Spain and France passing through Cadaques whic is very close, another stunning town.
There are street sellers all along the promenade but they have their goods laid out on bankets and they never bother you at all, however there are also oriental ladies walking up and down the beach all day long asking if you would like a massage and they do get on your nerves. It's nothing seedy but they ask and ask and ask!
The Maritim Hotel overall is in a great location and good value for money and we would definately return there and to the beautiful Costa Brava, we had a fabulous time there.

Room Tip: The family rooms and suites have the best views at the front of the Hotel.

This is a very busy seaside hotel on the beach, 10 mins from the centre of Roses. The resort is very popular with French tourists. We stayed three nights having booked on Booking.com. We paid extra for a partial sea view. We were very disappointd with the first room we were given on the first floor (116) as we had a view of a car park and trees and very little sea. The following morning we complained and we were moved without problem to room 309 from which we had an excellent view of Roses Bay and Roses itself. The rooms were clean and newly decorated. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was very good but busy. There is free parking in an enclosed area. My only gripe is their charge of €3 per day for a key to the room safe, which I think is a bit mean. It removes any disillusion of their desire to be of service over squeezing the last Euro out of customers.
