Positives:
- Excellent room service. Very clean rooms, the beds done every day, new towels every day and also rubbish taken, sweept and washed the floor every day.
- The hotel is quite enough and noisy enough.
- Excellent location, in the middle of everything. The nice sandy beach is approx. 300 metres away, nice walk. The sea is shallow for about 100m which makes it perfect for children.
- Lovely swimming pool with free sun beds.
- Very close to Palma Airport, approx. 7 miles in straight line, or 11 miles on the road. Do not book a transfer from/to airport! It will cost you around 3 times more than the bus...
- Nice spanish area, friendly people, not many foreign stores, you can actualy feel you are in Spain.
- Supermarket at 30 m away from the hotel, literaly around the corner. There you can find everything you need extra nice and cheap, at least half price than in the shops next to the beach.
- Lovely water activities available, including diving for beginners and advanced, snorkeling, high speed boats and water jets, nice cruises, etc.


Negatives:
- View to the sea just from the 6th level up.
- No air conditioning in the rooms. In the afternoons there is like in the oven.
- No internet access in the rooms. However, there is free wireless internet access in the reception area.
- No fridge in the rooms, but you can hire one from them for 35 euro per week, much too expensive.
- Some of the rooms have no table in the balcony
- we had in the bathroom just 2 plastic cups, not even the same size and colour. Our friends had 2 normal glasses...

- Now, most important thing: The reastaurant.
This is one of the cheapest restaurant service I've ever had. There is surely not enough staff and/or not well organised at all. They are not smiling, and not asking you if you need anything, and if you say thanks for something most of them would not answer back. The table cloth is not changed after every use, unless is proper dirty. They just quickly wipe it and that's it, the table is "ready" to be used by the next people... Then, sometimes they run out of cups for tea/coffee, of serviettes/napkins, also in the evenings is a job to find a knife and fork. Not once we had to grab a set from another table. They don't check the dishes often enough to replace the empty ones, so you can have regularly the nasty surprise to don't find there the food which you can see on the people's plates, or you'll have to wait patiently until someone from the kitchen will finaly come to bring new food... That's quite frustrating. The quality of the food was under my expectations... I'll not say more.
This review is based on our comparison with other holidays we've had in Spain, where for the same rating hotel (3 stars), we had air conditioning, wireless internet access and mini fridge in the rooms, also the quality of food and restaurant services was just perfect.
However, if you can close your eyes for the minuses, you still can have a lovely holiday there...

Room Tip: Ask for a room from 6th floor up if you want to have sea view.

This hotel looket very good from the information given on the net, but when we got there we were surprised to find that it was not really suitable for the elderley and infirm. Yes it is only 300 meters away from the beach but the hill climd back was steep. I am 81 and my sister was 77 and we both found it a real challange to get back to the hotel. A few times the breakfast was cold, eggs undercooked the choice was reasonable both for breakfast and evening meal. We both had trouble getting down to the dinning room as the lift did not go that far down. how people in wheel chairs manage I do not know. No ventilation in trhe bathroom and no aircoditioning in the room at all. Yes you can hire a fridge and fan but this is extra cost and if you do not know about these things you are left in the dark

Room Tip: Dont be misled with the idea that a three bedded room is bigger than either a twin or double as all...

I have just arrived back yesterday from the Reina Del Mar after booking a room for 1 week half board, after reading the reviews I was a bit nervous what to expect, but at first I was pleasently surprised, walking in the reception was very clean and well air conditioned, the receptionist was friendly and we was given the keys to our room and as we arrived late due to getting the local bus from the airport which was a cheap way of getting into the resort cost us 2 euros each I was happy that we made it in time for dinner. When we got into our room the room was clean but was quite small, but again we coped for what we paid.

The food in the hotel was ok, although they did cater more for the german market but you managed to get something to eat, there was a different choice of meat and fish every evening, there was also pizza and pasta although it was near enough the same pizza everyday and the same pasta sauce. Breakfast was the only downside to the food really as they had more German based breakfasts such as cheese and salami, and also chips! but there was also bread for toast or coissents with juice and tea/coffee for you to help yourself.

Our room overlooked the pool which we saw the staff clean everyday. I would advise you to get a safe though, which you could hire for 17 euros from the reception. The bar area was very clean and also had a DJ playing music some nights, we did have a few nights of loud behaviour but you get that in any hotel and after a while they calmed down. The hotels location about 5 mins walk from the beach which is on a hill, although that didnt bother us it may bother someone with walking difficulties.

Arenal itself is mainly a dutch/german resort but to be fair the bars were welcoming and tried to speak English for you, I didnt mind the different cultures in Arenal thats what the point of going is, to see and feel differerent cultures, If you want egg and chips 24/7 why not book a b&b in Skegness?

All in all, you get what you pay for, dont pay for 3* and expect 5*! to me the hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, the food was ok. If your wanting a full english breakfast and bangers and mash head more to magaluf!

Read reviews first, value for money. Could not fault the staff nor the cleanliness, we took our own fan, which was necessary even in late September. Disappointed 300 yards from sea front did not mention the very steep hills. Resort catered to germans.

it's a 2.5 star hotel
position : 5 min walk to the beach, 1 min walk to mercadona, 30 sec walk to shopping area (thursday market)
rooms- not very small for 2 person, old furniture- acceptable, clean
meal-european food ( I don't understand why english peoples didn't likes?!) atention !!! dinner it was after 7.30 pm
reception- good stuff- speak english, spanish, german
sleep quality- if you want complete silent go to 5 star hotel or take a earplugs kit

Room Tip: for a good view of sea take minimum 6 th floor- I staied in room 617

We arrived late on sunday evening so it was difficult to see what the resort actually looked like, we were unsure of the area as it looked a bit grim but we decided to wait until morning before judging it. When we got into the hotel itself we were impressed, beautifully kept reception area the man on reception was very polite and within 2 minutes we were in our room. The balcony looked over the pool which in most hotel is a positive however at reina del mar you are looking at a shabby looking pool area, backs of run down hotels and a grim little roadwe were not impressed. The room itself was very clean the bathroom was lovely a big mirror and a powerful shower, but the room was just too small!! There were three of us so the room had three beds which made the room very cramped but we didn't mind as we did not plan on spending much time in the room. In the morning we went down to breakfast, the restaurant is downstairs and is pretty big the restaurante was clean and looked really nice however the food was grim and most of it came out of a packet. All of the food was aimed at germans and so was the hotel. We decided that it would be okay because at the end of the road was a beautiful sandy beach. WHAT A LIE. At first glance it looked as if someone had taken away the sand and replaced it with a block a concrete and as you get closer it doesn't get any better. The sand was hard and flat and looked like clay the water was dirty and has big clumps of what i can only assume was oil. The whole area was horrible graffiti on every wall and I am pretty sure it was a residential area as we saw many children going to school!! We decided we would change not only hotels but also resorts, by lunch time on monday morning we were in a taxi on the way to palmanova from there our holiday began. But i have to say the staff at reina del mar were very nice and the hotel was clean but it was just the location that let it down., it was avery built up area and i dont think any sunlight ever reached the pool area. The resort/hotel was aimed at germans. I would not recommend it.

my name is m. marquez from barcelona and since i was 5 i have my yearly holidays for 12 years in reina del mar .the staff is like a family and the food is nice .maybe you have no aircon but that is just your mistake before you book your holidays you must to find out and dont expect gold if you paid silver!!!!
im planing to book my summer holidays in reina del mar but this time togheter with my children... the night entretainment is free and is perfect for families with small children .

if you go to spain is to enjoy spanish culture eat our foods and be all day by the sea side ...stop complaining and enjoy .
