“Week long chillax break”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

We went to this hotel w/c 6th April. It is a lovely hotel, small and compact as mentioned by several people, but beautifully decorated, very clean in lobby areas, pool areas and bedrooms. All staff were marvellous, helpful and friendly, especially the young man who worked the bar, he was run ragged betwixt the bar and the dining room but was always smiley and friendly, hopefully they have more staff during the busy periods otherwise I could see ragged people very annoyed waiting for service. The food was no better and no worse than other 4 star hotels we have stayed in, there was always an abundance of salads and accompaniments as well as different fish and meat dishes and also fresh foods cooked by a chef, although not always in attendance. The food was warm at best but if you didn't like this then there was a microwave to heat up if required. The fresh fruit was in abundance and there were always a variety of tempting sweets/deserts to be naughty with. It was our 25th anniversary whilst there and my husbands birthday and they very kindly gave us a free upgrade to a suite, which was very kind and a bonus, with two balconies, a Jacuzzi bath and lovely power shower with jets and lounge to use (although to be honest we aren't ones to stay in our rooms, just for sleeping). The pool area is very small but did make people more friendly to each other and there was a good mixture of nationalities. All in all a lovely holiday. Oh, area was a bit down, but a quick 5 minute walk and you were at the promenade. Anyone feeling like a lovely bike ride, hire a bike, there is a magnificent cycle path all the way to Palma with little harbours you can stop at on the way for refreshments etc, approx. 36km return but oh such a pretty ride.

Very clean hotel, staff are lovely, keep an eye out for Miguel - great barman! Nice and quiet for Easter break. Very close to the beach. Definitely worth the money we paid for all inclusive, got a great deal on Teletext Holidays. Adults only hotel which is great! We had a problem with our safe on the first day and we got a different room with very little fuss. Minor issues - I would say buffet is not 4*, although some meals were very good. Also entertainment wasn't great, though it provided an hour of hilarity as a result! If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing break, this hotel is perfect. When you're up for a busier night then it's close to some good bars and restaurants. Recommend a visit to Palma. Bus stop is a couple of minutes walk away.

Just returned from a week at the Mediterranean Bay, we booked and went with high hopes based on reviews we had read at the start of the year. The clientele are adults only and mixed ages and nationalities. The pluses for this hotel are; nice-ish modern décor, really clean throughout, hard working staff and acceptable bedrooms. The food is generally fine and varied ( a couple of meat and fish dishes per meal, loads of fresh salad, nice soup, plenty bread & desserts), although it does not cater well for veggies. The overall facilities are small scale - there are only around 120 rooms, so the dining area, bar, pool side and bedrooms reflect the hotel capacity. The rooms are small but functional and include a small fridge. The staff were really overworked but in the main pleasant and accommodating. The outdoor space is fine, small but plenty chairs and loungers and it gets the sun for a large part of the day.

The negatives are; the beds are truly awful - we barely slept as they are really small and hard. You will be able to hear everything from neighbouring rooms, so it is not a hotel for the shy! The maids are noisy from earl in the morning so you will not get a lie in. There are none of the 'extra's you expect in a 4 * - water in your fridge, tea/coffee facilities, toiletries etc. We were all inclusive but did not get any of the snacks - these have to be hunted down! Some of the food was quite poor and repetitive. Avoid the 'poached eggs' at all costs. If you are all inclusive you are only allowed particular drinks with your meals, you cannot get spirits only beer from a tap, wine or soft drinks. The drinks served are in tiny measures and there is only ever one person on the bar so you need to be patient. Likewise, you will have to wait for a seat in the restaurant. There was only entertainment on one night; an awful guy with a keyboard, the rest of the time it's like being at a wake. If music is played it is generally Celine Dion or 'Morning has broken', not really 'holiday' music.

The hotel is on a hill and not in a particularly touristy area, but we knew this prior to booking. It is far from the busy strip but handy for a few wee shops, our favourite Sportsman's Bar and the beach. The rooms at the front get very little sun. There is also a lot of noise from the businesses and traffic in the area, especially in the morning starting around 5am.

Room Tip: Slightly less noise if on floor 5.

Liked this hotel. Drinks choice good including some bespoke cocktails if you make friends with the barman, all very smart including the rooms. Helpful staff (they don't go missing for long!). Rooms are small but fine, would have preferred a double bed to singles though. Only thing that stops five stars is the buffet, it is a bit random with the choices. Breakfast is good but we did eat out a couple of times for lunch/dinner. Recommend a bus trip to Palma.

Room Tip: Go top floor, the marble floors and scraping chairs would have annoyed me if we weren't fifth fl...

We have stayed in a lot of four star all-inlucive hotels and this is by far the lowest standard of any and judging by the other guests views on the place, I would imagine the number one status of the hotel will plummet fairly rapidly.

Rooms are small but as you generally don't spend THAT much time in them , not a major problem.

Personally, found the reception staff not particularly helpful - we had problems adjusting our televison and asked for help from the man on reception to be told technician did not start until 7 - I am not sure what day at 7 he satrted but we were there for another four days and he never materialised.

At 10 am the day before we were due to leave I also asked same man on reception to phone through to confirm our pick up time. He said he would not be able to do this until 4 pm and when I went back at 4, what do you know it happened to coincide with the end of his shift and the woman who had taken over just pointed to payphone and told me to use that. I have worked in hotels and to me that is part of the job to help customers, obviously this is not so at this hotel.

As many people have said the bar staff often disappear to do other jobs/duties - not their fault but it is annoying. Having said that when they are there, all three that we met were very friendly and efficient (maybe they should give reception a few lessons on customer service). Our cleaner was also friendly and helpful .

The restaurant manager seemed to take his job very seriously, efficient and friendly but definitely a jobsworth. The food , well breakfast is definitely the best. There was very limited choice for lunch and dinner, when we first arrived there was not that many geust but by end of week it was defnitely busier but still a lack of choice. The hot food was not hot - just tepid, and it was huge mish-mash of choices, none of which really seemed to go wotyh each other. It is also telling when you see the chef just help himself to carrots and paella for his own meal!

The other irritating rule was the limit on drinks. I appreciate it is a relatively small hotel but if you are offering all inclusive, within reason, you should not limit what the customers have. One fellow guest was told after 6 beers over his first afternoon that that was enough. The rule seemd to be you were limited to one drink per person at a time - bearing in mind the bar staff would be used in other areas of the hotel for a good few minutes at a time, sometimes you would 'need' to stock up so you did not have to sit there empty handed. Again, with the water for the room , you were limited to 2 small bottles (300 ml or so) per trip to bar- a) if you are there in height of summer, you would want/need more than that to keep yourself hydrated and b) it must be far more economical for the hotel to buy and give guests larger bottles.

While the holiday was not a disaster, we certainly would not recommend it to anyone and most definitely will not ever be returning.

Room Tip: Tip for choosing a good room? Stay somewhere else

We have just come back from an excellent 4 night stay at the Mediterranean Bay Hotel from Thursday 3rd April to Monday 7th April. We arrived at 11am and was greeted by a very friendly man on check in who explained we could check in at 12PM and we could store our cases in the room behind reception, this wasnt a problem at all and as we have been to the area before we decided to take a walk down to the beach and have a drink. When we returned just before 12 we were promptly checked in and given all info about hotel.

The Rooms are very well decorated with nice furnishes, although a bit small. We didnt mind as was only there for 4 nights but i think if you was staying longer it may well be worth upgrading to a suite if you want more space and storage as there wasnt much, however it was a lovely room and was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was also very nice, the showers were fantastic, walk in cubicle and powerful always warm water available. Theres also a fridge in the room.

The food was very good, not much of a selection but i think due to it being out of season this was understandable but what was there all tasted great and enjoyed every meal. I liked the fact the wine was in a bottle and you could see what you was drinking instead of being on tap. We didnt think it was a problem that there were no wine glasses which others have pointed out i cant see why people would find fault with the restaurant or the staff which i think do an excellent job. We were always greeted by friendly staff, i personally thought that they were very efficient when clearing plates and never thought they were trying to hurry us along, in fact one afternoon due to bad weather we spent quite some time in there enjoying lunch and having glasses of wine and they were in no way trying to get rid of us.

The 2 bar men did a brilliant job, very friendly and polite. Yes sometimes they would be helping out in the restaurant at busy times but you only had to walk to the door and ask to be served and they came straight away, there would be no point in them standing behind the bar when there was no one to serve if they can help next door and this only happened a few times. They do have an all inclusive gold option were you can pay 10 Euros each per day and have named brand drinks, this would be a good option if required.

I think all the staff do a fantastic job, all were very friendly and polite and make the hotel a great place to be. On check out we were leaving at 3AM and was asked if we would like a cup of coffee, we thought this was a nice touch.

We would definately return to this hotel but due to having a child we will have to go to their other hotel Palma Bay Club instead, we had a fantastic deal on this hotel which worked out at £25 each a night and it more than lived up to expectation. Thanks for a great time!

Room Tip: Get a taxi from the airport much quicker and only 18 euros in the day and 21 euros at night
