We booked our holiday online so had no previous knowledge of this hotel or the area.
The hotel looked very impressive with loads of marble and ceramic tiling everywhere. It was exceptionally clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Our first night was a bit uncomfortable as there is no air conditioning or fans in the rooms. You can hire a fan for three euros a day from reception.
For the first 2 days we were the only English speaking family at the hotel, all other guests being 18 - 30 yr old German, French or Swedish.
As with most other resorts you need to put your towels out on the loungers quite early or you miss out and there aren't many umbrellas.
The meals were fabulous though. The food was of a high quality and always plenty of it. Lunch time was always a bit of a rush though because they only gave you an hour. Snacks available from the bar area for 5 hours though.
All in all a nice hotel but not really suitable for English families with small children as there wasn't much for youngsters to do.

Never again!
We have stayed at different "all inclusive" resorts in Mallorca and this is definitively the worst.Stayed at kilimanjaro for 4 nights, The room was very clean. Food is terrible unless you like old bread, boiled bacon sweet omelett etc. And you are only allowed one drink at the time even sodawater. The staff speak mostly german.

We spent nine days in El Arenal July 2007. This hotel books a lot charters from Germany and hosts many young groups in to party. I am American, kein problem. If you are British you probably want the west side of the capitol. West hosts more British and east more and more Germans. Unless you are young at heart, this (Arenal) is not a place for you. Most come to have a party time +. On the other hand there were many Spanish families with children on the beach on vacation too. The hotel directly across from us was completely Spanish. Kilmanjaro offers a comfortable and attractive lobby entrace and a very comfortable and attractive dining room. The food was good to very good and better than we expected and not like what we read in previous reviews. The rooms vary. We had #207. It was a bit narrow and not a place I would say I would just go to and just relax. Very clean and simple but could find not problems. There are bigger and better rooms and smaller ones as well, like the ones across the hall from us. Caution! Arenal is noisy and this hotel has no air conditioning which means doors and windows must remain open at night. Sleepers easily disturbed should find other accomodations. Also, no TV. This can be a blessing in disguise. Staff is friendly. Bar tenders are heavy pourers. No problem if you are looking to get intoxicated. Liquor quality is average to low but abundant. Everyone there was having a genuine good time. Because of no air conditioning I would still return except for the months of the year 30C+. One night it cooled off so that I had to go back to the room and put long pants and shirt on in order to stay by the night time poolside activities. Over all I woud say we got our money's worth and more.

Hotel had spotless facilities and staff were very friendly even got a Birthday Cake for our daughters 5th birthday.

Staff made sure we had a quiet family room away from the bar area very little noise at night.

Snacks were available at the bar from 12am -5pm, no ice cream was available which was the only draw back with 2 children.

We were the only British at the hotel during our stay the other residents were mainly young Germans who were very well behaved.

We enjoyed a relaxing holiday by the pool, the beach is only a short walk downhill and had shallow waters ideal for young children.

The food at the hotel was good but not always to our taste but the deserts were fab!!!!

Would return with our 2 children in the future.

The hotel itself was very clean and most of the staff were pleasant. However, the food wasn't very good at all. Although there was a variety of things to eat, not all of it was edible.

As there was a large group of us it was awkward only being allowed one drink at a time, especially as we had children with us, and only having one person working behind the bar didn't help either.

We have stayed at quite a few different hotels that do the all inclusive deals, but this one was by far the worst !

The hotel itself was fine, the rooms were clean and tidy, there are no problems there but if your british its not really a place to go because it is mostly based and catered around the germans, you have the same kind of food everyday and the children were only aloud 1 icecream a day each and it was only open for an hour from 4 to 5 as they are very tight with their food.
Its very hard to try and get asleep at night as there are a lot of groups of foreign boys and girls there making to much noise, and if you can't hack it drench them with the water pistols like we did. You are only aloud 1 drink at a time but if you want 2 they will ask you who the otherone is for. The staff are ok but they could smile once in a while it would'nt hurt them. The entertainment in the hotel is rubbish and we went out everynight as we were so bored there, all the drinks stop at 11 and the bar closes and you have to go out of that area at 12 as the doors get locked. The resort is mainly based around germans aswell but there is a really good english bar just down the road where we went everynight as they make you feel welcome and you have a really good time there. All i can say is that I won't ever be going back to that hotel again.

The Kilimanjaro hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff were fantastic, very helpful and great fun, unfortunately they speak very little English as this is primarily a German hotel in a German resort. The resort itself was filthy dog muck everywhere, poop and scoop has not yet arrived here! The front was like Blackpool selling expensively priced cheap tatt.

The food at the Kilimanjaro was also good but again very german, veal thee days in a row and lots of pork. They did try very hard with bacon and eggs at breakfast and provided chips and scollops and roast potatoes which were lovely but it was all a bit monotonous with very little variety in the menu.

The German guests at the hotel were very pleasant and there was no fighting for sunbeds. The bar staff were excellent making everyone queue, no pushing in allowed. Snack were sandwiches all week until our last day when the Burgers and Chips came on the menu. It was very noisy at night due to all male and female groups which meant lots of shouting and slamming of doors. Not the place to go for the Brits or if you want to sleep at night.
