“Not impressed”
Reviewed 8 August 2014 via mobile

We got a good deal here and I'm so pleased we did! The room we got overlooked an internal area; if one was to be very generous, one could say that it was a courtyard. However it was a crummy little space which had the kitchens at the bottom of it. As a result there was no natural light or ventilation and a lot of noise.
Added to this was a very firm bed which was not impressive.
The main thing going for this hotel was its location; just down from the main square.
One final thought; we quite liked the idea of the spa, but €25 for an hour is an absolute rip-off!
I won't go again.

When we arrived we found they had assigned us a top floor room with a skylight. We didn't prefer this, so we asked if there was anything else. We were graciously moved to a huge suite (that we didn't need, but it WAS nice). The furnishings are traditional in style, but the room was quite comfortable. The breakfast was quite good.

My quibbles are about the garage and the bathroom. The garage is very dark and the lights are on a timer, so when you are loading or unloading your car, it suddenly goes black and who knows how to turn the lights back on? The bathroom is sort of average -- with an old-fashioned shower curtain and a shower head that is so high up that you have to be at least 6 ft tall to adjust it or remove the head to direct the spray.

There was also deterioration of the bathroom ceiling (see the pics)

Overall, it was a satisfactory hotel at a reasonable price, but nothing special.

Stayed one night here on our travels.
Good points:
Staff very friendly and helpful, but we did have to brush up on our Spanish!
Rooms large with most things necessary.
Underground parking (if a bit typically tight for space).
Not so good points:
We were initially shown to a room which smelt strongly of tobacco smoke. i am very surprised that this is still acceptable.
The replacement room had no view (overlooking other property)
The general decor is past sell by date, and would do with a makeover!
All told, we'd probably go back to the parador next time.

Room Tip: Non smoking with a view

We had a standard room via an internet deal - i.e. not one of the suites on the top floor, but still luxurious by our standards! A huge room, big bathroom with a really comfortable bath, and a plate of melon and pineapple waiting for us on our return late on our second evening. The staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't try the breakfast as there are plenty of cheap cafes nearby. The local bus to the bus and train stations stops right outside.

Very nice hotel, superb junior suite with two pieces. Good bathroom with amenities (bath robes included). In the morning very nice breakfast with a wide range of food and drink. We really enjoyed it.
The staff was nice and polite.

Only disadvantage, not free parking. Everything around is paying blue zone.

We would come back!!

This is certainly a 4 star hotel in my book, and to get a suite for 90 euros including breakfast was terrific value. The staff were helpful especially over car parking, and the set menu was delicious in the hotel restaurant, and very cheaply priced.
We had no complaints whatever, and Zamora is a little gem of a place with very few tourists

Wife and I and a relative couple stayed here for a night. We had the attic rooms which were very nice, spacious and clean. The bathrooms were fantastic. However, as the hotel was located in front of a little sqaure and right opposite a local in-door market, checking-in presented a bit of a problem as the place was so crowded. The hotel in fact had a couple of dedicated parking spaces for customer to unload their baggages, but it was not easy to get and use. One had to be very careful as the place was full full of cars circulating for parking. The standard of English of the receptionists was poor and that didn't help matters. We had pre-booked a parking space of the hotel's underground carpark, but getting some sensible directions/instructions from them was a struggle. Basically we were gave a roomcard to operate the garage door and were told to drive round behind the hotel to gain access. The access as very tight and be warned that one must go there with someone to open the gate and to guide the turnings etc. or else you would get damages to the car.

The hotel was in the middle of Zamora town and one could walk to all the places of interest easily (the cathedral, the churches, the sqaures, the shopping streets etc). It wasn't that noisy considering it was opposite a market/sqaure. WIFI worked fine. We had dinner in the basement restaurant and it was fine.

All in all, if you were not going there by car and want to be in the middle of town, I'd recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Be very careful with the underground garage, take someone with you as a guide into/out of it.
