“Very good hotel”
Reviewed 6 February 2014

The location of the hotel is excellent, just a block from the catedral, few minutes from the castle gate.
The room is comfortable, and the view is amazing. the bed a bit hard but good for us.
Breakfast is ok, El Aljibe restaurant very nice and good value.
Staff friendly and profesional.

We stayed here for one night during a 4 week driving holiday.
We found the hotel very easily using sat nav. It is located in the old town up a very highly inclined street.
We were able to park(briefly) outside to unload baggage - the street is very narrow and whilst cars can squeeze by your car, I wouldn't want to see a bus try!
We had a suite on the top floor. Huge room with very high wood beamed ceiling.
Double aspect windows with views of the cathedral virtually next door and a tiny balcony overlooking the narrow street. It was May when stayed, not the height of the holiday season, so we found it reasonably quiet.
4 poster bed. Separate sitting room. Modern bathroom with shower over bath. Functional.
TV in bedroom as well as sitting room.
Mini bar. No complimentary water.
Park up the road. Secure multi storey €17 for 15 hrs.
Wifi rubbish.
Mattress like a board.
Very basic buffet breakfast.
No help with luggage.
It was very wet and cold when we arrived (Monday late pm) and found it difficult to find anywhere open to have a drink or eat. We eventually found a hostel with a cafe in the lower town which was open (phew) for wine and free tapas which kept us going until the restaurants opened at 8pm.
We ate in the square where the cathedral is, very close to the hotel.
Sorry I didn't make a note of the name - this was a good experience of a typical Spanish restaurant serving local dishes - the menu was in Spanish, the staff spoke no English so it was very hit and miss with our choice of food! ( of which there were huge quantities ! - please note, most dishes in what we call the "true" Spain (not the beach resort holiday places) are meant for sharing!
The hotel was ok for one night but didn't inspire me to want to stay again .

We only stayed one night. First, there are many positives to this hotel. The location is ideal and it's quiet (our windows were soundproof). It's one of the newer hotels in the area and therefore still very clean. The staff are both friendly and helpful and speak Spanish and English. The price was pretty good at 110 euro a night including VAT however that price does NOT include breakfast (or parking). The room was large and WIFI was included (which we didn't use). We even had a nice view of the Cathedral.

There were a few negatives though (as mentioned in other reviews). First, the room was hot and stuffy. The AC is small and once we figured out how to turn it on, it only blew lukewarm air. We turned that off and propped the windows open to let in cool air, but then we got noise from outside, so we had to close the windows at night when we slept. Second, the pillows were as hard as rocks. There were 3 extra pillows in the closet. Two were totally unacceptable (Cheaply made and very lumpy with no pillow case). There was only one other 'slightly' softer pillow in the closet that I used. We found a paper in a folder on the desk the next morning (which was too late) which indicated that 'supposedly' the pillows can be exchanged for different ones at the front desk. And yes, the beds are very firm (which is very typical of most hotels in Spain).

We stayed in the junior suite, which had a gorgeous 4-poster bed, high ceilings, and the old exposed ceiling beams. Very spacious, immaculately clean, with charming architectural details and decor. The windows have two sets of glass shutters that block out the noise from the square completely. The location couldn't be better.

Skip the restaurant and opt instead for El Secreto, only two blocks away.

Room Tip: Book the junior suites. They are absolutely stunning and a phenomenal value.

It is situated just on the central street an easy to find. The parking is higher by the street and expensive. Next time it is necessary to ask for the room opposite the street the air condition was out of order and had to sleep almost on the noisy street.

We arrived for a one night stop over and had no problem finding the hotel on the car GPS. Very short term parking is possible outside for unloading but you need to move the car some 100m up the street for undercover parking (quite expensive) or free outside parking. The undercover parking was probably the most expensive I have had in Spain, it came to some 23 Euros from about 1800 to 1000 the next day with a 2-3 hour break whilst we drove out for an evening meal. We didn't try the free outside parking but this doesn't seem a 'high risk' area so probably OK. An earlier reviewer mentioned hard beds and I would agree wholeheartedly with this. The second pillow situation was a bit below standard as these had no pillowcases and were quite unattractive. However reception soon exchanged them. Quite honestly this should not happen in the first place with good domestic staff. There were also comments on the air conditioning not working correctly. Ours was a bit fiddly with the controls but worked OK in the end. As a comfortable nights sleep is important I think I might try somewhere else next time because of the hard beds but otherwise the hotel was satisfactory.

the hotel is located in the centre of the old city; you need a GPS to find the hotel (small Streets in the old town). Once you arrived, you have the possibility to park the car in a public parking space (17€/day). The hotel has 34 rooms : tip choose a room 409 ! splendid views from the terrace and very quiet. All staff were very friendly. The old centre is nice ; a lot of restaurants and bars just a minute away.

Room Tip: choose for room 409 !
