Outside tables were nearly all full when we stopped initially for drinks only. We were greeted well and having ordered 2 cokes were were given a sharing plate of pretty good fish paella. Diners were a mixture of tourists and Spanish. Service was always good and having watched and whiled away an hour we plumped for the 10 Euro Menu del Dia. After a pleasant sharing salad we had house revelto and ham & peas starters. For main course we both had chicken a la plancha. These were large fully boned fillets beautifully cooked & served with a few potato slices and vegetables. Desserts were the typical Spanish tartas, in our case whiskey, and apple. A drink was included. This was an unexpectedly good lunch and very good value. A few extra glasses of very good (and cheap) house wine helped us on our way. We also noted that the internal dining room of the restaurant was very well set out and decorated in you prefer to eat inside. We would be happy to eat here again.

Located very conveniently in the Plaza Mayor, near the Cuenca cathedral. There are several place in this square and we were led to this place by trip-advisor recommendations. Really good option. As we waited for our table, we ordered a beer and they offered us a very plentiful and tasteful paella tapa. They offer a lunch-time menu with a few options of starters and mains. We had an ensaladilla rusa and a filete a milanesa. We ended up spending only around 15€/person for what was a very good meal.

It's easy to see why this bar in the Plaza Mayor is always buzzing with locals. It's got to be the best value we've ever come across! We didn't actually need to have an evening meal after three glasses of wine here because each glass came with different and very substantial tapas. However the food that we saw being served around us looked good and plentiful. Yes its situated right next to the traffic lights in the square but that's where all the action is. Don't miss it!

We had two meals at this restaurant and both were superb. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The second visit was for a "birthday meal" and we were pleased we went back.

Unfortunately we visited Cuenca in late November only to find many restaurants had closed for the season, therefore, our choice was very limited. Finding that the restaurants we had earmarked to visit were closed we asked for advice in the tourist information office. We were told the restaurants in the Plaza Mayor were good, therefore we went in search of one. We found that only 3 were open, one being a Tapas bar. We opted for Restaurante San Juan on our first day. The staff were rather surly and the food was delivered to the table almost as soon as our order reached the kitchen! It was very average and really couldn't recommend it.
