This parador de turismo is situated at the other side of the Huécar in front of the casas colgantes, so the views are brilliant. When coming by car, know that parking is limited (the parador has a garage with a daily cost of 15€ and indications from A40 are non existent. The people at the reception are extremely friendly. Rooms are spacious and have views (the person at the reception mentioned it especially as we had a view "to the back" (over the valley, but not in the direction of the casas colgantes), which is lovely at the breaking of day.
When first reviewing this hotel, I tried to send TripAdvisor a message that this hotel is indicated twice (under its "official" name as Convento de san Pablo and as parador), but I wasn´t able to pass the message. Just saying that you better check reviews of the same hotel under 2 different names.

Room Tip: ask the reception for special views

Cuenca, Spain appears to be off the radar for most Americans/Canadians preferring Toledo instead. Well, Cuenca is a gem of a town worthy of a day or weekend trip from Madrid or Valencia. The Parador is an excellent choice for those who prefer to stay in a historic setting with a true local feel. The location is excellent for hiking trails and walks of all levels as well as exploring the old city with its' "hanging houses" and historic buildings. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, food options are quite good and the stay comfortable and pleasant. We were there in October with most guests appearing to be Spaniards with other Europeans.

This former convent makes the trip to Cuenca special. We only stayed one night and took the high speed train from Madrid (only 50 minutes) and it was perfect to get a taste of the city and take in the amazing views from the hotel. The extra charge for a room with a view is worth it! We did have an issue with the staff- there was one man working at the front desk both days we were there who was unhelpful and actually quite rude. Just one example was that we asked if he could order us a taxi for later in the afternoon to get to the train station and he answered in an annoyed tone that he "could but it was very busy I may not remember." Not an acceptable response in my opinion. Overall, a very cool hotel however with a great location.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view are worth the extra cost!

Possibly the best Parador in Spain! A grand, former convent with stunning views of the hanging houses on the far side of the ravine. A footbridge across the ravine takes you straight to the heart of the city. Staff were extremely helpful. Bedroom was spacious with a modern bathroom. The breakfast was excellent, but we were slightly disappointed with the evening meal.

Stayed here for one night in early October. If you have got the train to Cuenca then you can get a bus to the old town and walk across the bridge!! It is magical to approach the Parador this way!!
the receptionists are very friendly and the bar man is the best!! Full marks go to the bar man who was serving on the night of 3rd October!!
