“Relaxing, peaceful - just what the doctor ordered!”

Sadly we only stayed for one night but what a fabulous experience. Everything we could have wished for. Roaring log fires, fantastic service, beautiful surroundings and a lovely room.
Food was delicious, I had the venison which was cooked to perfection.

This is the perfect hotel to relax in but you can also enjoy many of the activities on offer such as golf, fishing, clay pigeon shooting.

Nothing is too much trouble...we will be back!

We stayed here for a long weekend in March as a base to tour the Borders and to relax. The grounds and the first impressions of the hotel are very nice - quite impressive. A small deer crossed the road in front of us we arrived. Upon opening the front door you we were welcomed by a deep, rich, smoke from the first of several open fires in the ground floor reception rooms. Staff were welcoming and showed us to our first floor room (Room 11 overlooking the front door). The bedroom was spacious, traditional and very comfortable. The hotel reception rooms are extremely comfortable - the library makes a really pleasant bar area and the choice of whiskeys is amazing - although I preferred the local draft beers. Golf, fly fishing and clay pigeon shooting is available on the grounds - the hotel make all the arrangements - it couldn't be easier or more convenient. The grounds even offer a very picturesque woodland walk for guests with a wide range of wildlife in the grounds. Breakfast was prepared individually and was perfectly fine. The one and only drawback for us was the dinners, which were really disappointing both in terms of the quality and the portions. Our meal cost us c £120 for 2 with wine. My starter of scallops comprised 2 very small scallops and a few bits and pieces to present it - hardly even a taste of the scallops. My wife started with smoked salmon that was considerably better but still not outstanding. For mains, my Rib Eye steak was very, very average and my wife's sea bream was very small indeed. The meal wasn't appalling by any means but it was very average and I would have expected much better from a hotel of this standard, which was excellent in every other way (the wine was very good). Of particular note - on our first night the hotel was cleared for 2 hours due to a chimney fire. The staff were outstanding, ushering guests into the hotel's golf clubhouse and offering them free drinks and sandwiches until they could return to the hotel - really excellent, professional service that was very well received by the guests.

Room Tip: I would choose rooms at the front of the hotel - a nice outlook!

We were here in May 2012 and only now have I found a bit of time to write a few lines. We spent our first night (of 14) in Scotland at this hotel and memories of this stay will stay with us forever. The whole ambience of this beautiful venue, on a glorious cloudless day, is unforgettable. We loved walking through the gardens! The dinner was also absolutely fantastic; the presentation and taste of each dish engraved in our memories. Hopefully, we'll be back someday....

My husband and I won a nights bed and breakfast at this lovely hotel in The Scottish Borders and decided to use it for his birthday weekend. The staff were extremely warm and welcoming on arrival and took us up to our four poster feature room (room 10) This room was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the bathroom was huge including the bath tub which seemed to be extra long! Complimentary whisky was supplied in a decanter in the room which was very welcome after an hour or so of clay pigeon shooting in the hotel grounds. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the staff were very attentive and we were very well looked after. it was good to see somewhere with plenty of staff and not 1 or 2 running around trying to do everything as you quite often find in hotels these days. Sunday morning breakfast was delicious and friends joined us which made it a great start to the day.

Room Tip: Room 10 with the four poster and double aspect windows.

Have stayed here many times and each time the hotel excels itself for service, comfort and a truly relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. A must if you are looking for a quiet, but luxurious hotel.

We had a fantastic and special stay recently at this wonderful venue. The Duchess Suite was truly fabulous and the staff were very attentive and first class. The food was great and so were the champagne cocktails! Recommend this hotel for a truly special stay. Thanks to all at Roxburghe Hotel including Alistair for his patience in teaching clay pigeon shooting!!

Coming in from the cold on a Winters day and being welcomed by the warmth of the fireplace, to the excellent and very attentive staff I can highly recommend this hotel. Followed in the evening by a delicious dinner from their newly appointed Chef.
