Apart from the camel treks everyone comes here to do, there is precious little to do in Merzouga and its surrounding villages, especially in the blinding heat of day. Head to Restaurant Cafe Fatima which is owned by a local Berber man and his lovely Japanese wife for delicious authentic cuisine, free Wi-Fi and a computer to use at leisure, guide books in various languages, books to curl up with one any of their comfy seats and cushions, a terrace with a view of the giant dunes, and dear sweet Lord - a porcelain flush toilet and what seems to be the villages only ceiling fan. We pretty much spent all day at this place, enjoying the great service, food and drinks, planning our next steps with their guidebooks and internet. They also offer frozen 1.5L water bottles which were a complete life saver to us during one day's heatwave. They also have a massive crafts and souvenirs shop right next door. Thanks for letting us hang out all day for two whole days here, we had a lovely time :)
