We have stayed at two other cabin resorts in Pinetop. This was our first time at Whispering Pines and it was by far the best. The staff were A-One, the cabin (#33) was very clean and well equipped. The location and surroundings are ideal. Will make this our White Mountains base on all future visits.

We spent two nights here and it was a huge mistake. Each night cost $110. Amazingly they provide no housekeeping services for guests.

During the second day of our stay, I called the reception desk to ask why housekeeping had not stopped by the room. I was astonished to learn that they do not provide housekeeping services at all. They don't stop by to empty waste baskets, make the bed, replace towels, replenish soap or to clean anything.

I was told that if we wanted clean towels, we should take the old ones to the office and they will provide replacements. According to guidance posted on the cabin doors, the same goes for bed sheets but those can only be replaced every 5 days!

The sculpted shag carpeting in our cabin looked like it was 25 years old...no exaggeration. I avoided being barefoot or touching the rug for fear of filth or that it might be inhabited by bugs or bacteria.

If you expect shampoo or hair conditioner in the bathroom here you'd be sorely mistaken. The shower stall was very small…almost the size of that which we've seen in boats. It's virtually impossible to bend over and reach your feet without sticking your head out beyond the shower stall. There are no safety handles here so this place is definitely not for anyone with a physical disability.

They do provide a coffee maker in the room. However guests must be clairvoyant because there’s no message about having to bring our own coffee, cream, sugar, etc. Tea bags? Shampoo? Conditioner? Forget it. Such amenities must be way too expensive for a room that only cost $110 a night!

Free breakfast? No way. You MUST be dreaming!

This place charges a $5 "Resort Fee" per stay! I asked what this was for. I was told that it covered Arizona's increase in the minimum wage. Incredible! Calling this place a "Resort" is like calling a junked car a limousine. Plus, whoever heard of a resort fee to pay for staff wages? The whole thing is absurd!

I should have taken a clue about this unprofessional business when I made my reservation by phone. I was informed that the first night would not be refundable at any point after the reservation was made...even if the reservation was canceled in advance. Policies like this are never implemented by reputable hotels. I should have immediately walked away.

There are many excellent choices of hotels in the Show Low and Pinetop Lakeside area. Many offer rooms for the same price or even less so there's no reason anyone should consider staying at Whispering Pines.

The only reason this rating was not a one-star was because of the pretty setting that the cabins are located in. The property has many beautiful pine trees. But my advice is go out and enjoy the area's scenery beyon the bounds of your hotel. There are lovely parks and lakes throughout the area. I suggest that you take your money to any of the much better hotels in the region. It is easy to find one with an ethic of providing customer service...something absent at Whispering Pines.

On second thought, I have decided to give this place a one star rating. There's no way the pine trees can compensate for all of this place's shortcomings.

We could not be more sorry to hear of your total disappointment, clearly there was such a misunderstanding here....and for that we certainly apologize.

When I read this, it was quickly evident that your expectations of a "resort" are most certainly different than what we have to offer our guests, as these are cabins.
They are extremely clean cabins, but they (like some of us) have been here for awhile....and for most, it truly is a charming escape from the daily grind.

As per being a resort, our grounds are without a doubt one of the most tranquil areas in Pinetop....and it backs the National Forest.....it just doesn't get any better in our humble opinion.

So it is true that we don't have the type of housekeeping that one may expect from the well known hotel up the street, nor do we provide a continental breakfast for our guests. We offer peace & tranquility for those looking to hide away amidst nature for a few days!

Our guests come to enjoy the cool evenings on their private porch, maybe throw some steaks on their own BBQ, and/or tossing a few logs (that we include) on the fire to take the chill off.....these are just a few of the things that absolutely make us a fabulous "resort". Some even feel it is paradise. :)

Again we do apologize that you feel so mislead, and to avoid this in the future, we encourage you and everyone to ask for pictures if they have any concerns regarding "amenities."
We have a website that we would have been more than happy to direct you to. WhisperingPinesAz.com

From there you can see videos, and many detailed pictures of our cabins. We want our guests to know what it is we're about here at Whispering Pines Resort, and the truth is we offer an amazing alternative to the usual "reputable hotels."

Whispering Pines Resort is a quiet oasis in the middle of Pinetop. The tall Pines place the cabins in a wood like setting. The cabins are fully furnished with everything that you need. They are tastefully furnished with tv and wifi available to each cabin. The staff are friendly and helpful. A great stay.

I have nothing but good things to say about Whispering Pines. Courteous and friendly staff, beautiful cabins (that are extremely well stocked with things you might need), and extremely competitive pricing. I plan on returning often.
