Reception staff were disorganised upon arrival and hard to find on departure.
A/C heating didn't work. Waited over an hour for staff to unlock the fridge and they didn't even come. Who puts a lock on the fridge anyway!? No kettle or cups. Lots of school children running around screaming until 11pm. Woken up at 5am by kids yelling and banging on walls and doors. The website didn't state that it was a school camp accommodation destination. Won't stay here again.

Hi Benjamin

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the ibis Styles Canberra Eaglehawk. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies.

During the week a large portion of our business is providing accommodation for school groups on educational tours of Canberra. As you probably noted the size of our property allows us to easily accommodate them whilst keeping them separate from our leisure clientele. Most of these rooms are bunk rooms or dormitory style. We lock the fridges in those rooms as a precaution and place the kettle in the fridge to prevent any damage whilst they are occupied but the children.
These room can be booked privately and serve as budget accommodation for groups of people passing through Canberra and are just looking for a bed. Unfortunately though it means that they can be roomed near to one or several school groups.

At Ibis Styles, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and prevent future occurrence.

We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

Thank you again

Arriving after the sun goes down is a real adventure here - at reception you are given a map, with vague pathways marked to try and find your room. Even asking again at the bar, he was just as confused as me to try and decide which way to go. So I stumbled through the dark grounds with a minimal signage, and after about 15 minutes finally arrived where I was supposed to be. The room was cold, turned on air-conditioner to heat, waited in lost hope for an hour, no hot air. Rang reception, as I also needed a log in for WiFi (why not given at check-in?) to tell them about the non functioning air-conditioner, which seemed not to surprise them because a young man finally arrived with two small fan heaters, and explained that this was quite common at this time of year, as they "got a hammering in the cold, and needed constant maintenance". He then had to also replace one of the fan heaters as it was making a lot of noise. Even though, one had the choice in the end - be hot and loose sleep with the fan heaters being noisy, or try and sleep with the extra blankets provided with the heating turned off. All in all, a poor choice for accommodation, but seemed ideal for the several bus loads of school children having a wonderfully noisy time.

Hi Joe

Thanks for the feedback, the good news is that the improvements are underway. We love hearing from our guest good or bad as it helps us improve. Moving forward as part of our upgrade we will be renovating the bathrooms and updating the ageing decor.
Thanks for taking the time to provide us with feedback

All the best!!!

We stayed in room 162 on 14th August. I realise that this is a budget style accommodation however we encountered the following:
*Lukewarm hot water. Only just warm enough to shower under. I see a similar review for room 160 in July with a management comment to say it had been addressed. Obviously not fixed properly.
*No hairdryer - even though it is listed as an inclusion
*No fridge access (even though it is listed as an inclusion)- the fridge in the room is locked you have to ring reception to get it opened. We rang reception and they couldn't find the key so therefore we couldn't use the fridge.
* The telephone in the room doesn't work and we had to ring reception from our mobile phones.
*Our family of 5 was in one room that had 3 bunk beds. The beds are constructed with spring bases for top and bottom beds. They creak loudly when anyone moves during the night.

The only positive I can give is that the buffet breakfast was very adequate.
