“Perfect place to stay when exploring Connemara”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2010

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Island Cottage. Geraldine was great to chat to, and very helpful with advice and information on the area. Innishnee is close to all the things we wanted to see in Connemara, and many unexpected surprises too. The cottage is equipped with everything you could need while on holiday. But it’s really the peaceful silence and the beautiful views that make this place special. We spent many evening just relaxing and appreciating the wonder of it all...

We have stayed in Cill Cottage Innishnee 3 times now and can never wait to go back! The whole area is stunning with views from every angle,so much to explore at a pace so unhurried and relaxed one leaves again truely refreshed and recharged! Cill cottage is perfect in every way from the cosy peat burning fire on a chilly evening to laying in bed gazing out the window at the wonderful views enjoying the silence. Nothing is too much trouble for Geraldine,we even stayed when there was no water on the island and she couldnt do enough! A truely special place we love it and will continue going back.Thank you Geraldine.

I have stayed with Geraldine at Cill Cottage about six times over the last few years. The island is unspoilt and definitely far from the madding crowd. The cottages have all the luxuries of a city apartment but in rugged, stunning surroundings. Geraldine runs a tight ship and every eventuality is catered for. She is on site and friendly and helpful and also respects the space of her visitors.

For me this is the perfect holiday. It is a far flung location with none of the difficulties often associated with going to an island. You can drive on to the island and Roundstone itself is only a couple of minutes by car. There are inumerable places for walking and sightseeing but I must admit I find my self hanging out on the island more often than not.

I will defintely be back again and again.

I have spent 6 months Oct 09 – Easter 2010 in Cill Cottage, Inishnee. It was such a great experience that it’s not easy to convey it in a comment here. But, if you can take time out of your life to live close to nature, watch the seasons, experience the changing weather of the west of Ireland, Inishnee is perfect; remote but not lonely. It is an ideal retreat for an artist or writer. Geraldine runs her place really professionally and left me to my own devices – I was completing a book during my time here and as the cottage has broadband, I was able to work from the cottage. Cill Cottage is close to the shore and the whole place is full of wildlife – herons, pheasants and hares. Two calves were born in the spring during my time there. Amy, the Connemara Pony keeps you company. The clear skies at night were brilliant for stargazing. The location is wonderful – excursions in all directions. Climb Cashel Hill, walk on the Bog Road, walk Gurteen Strand and Dog’s Bay. O'Dowd's in nearby Roundstone is an excellent place for a good meal. Can’t recommend Cill Cottage highly enough. Thank you Geraldine and the kind neighbours.

If you are not already in Ireland, go. Get on the highway headed west to Connemara. Find the road that takes you to the end of the earth. Get on the next road. There you will find Cill Cottage in Innishnee. Geraldine Warde, who owns the place, and Amy, the Connemara pony who clearly is a descendant from a unicorn, will greet you with a peat fire, warm smiles, and the most quiet, clean, beautiful cottage in one of the most glorious spots on the planet. My wife and I spent a fabulously relaxed week at Cill Cottage, which we used as an outpost for day trips and a resting place beyond compare. Geraldine’s sweet and adventurous personality permeates everything and the cottage is equipped with everything one might need. Across the bay is Roundstone and, not too far away, is Clifden. The mountains, the sunrises, the sunsets, the birds, the pony, the walks are grand. It is the perfect getaway for a couple deeply in love and in need of a peaceful place to stay.

Cill cottage is a wonderful place to get away from it all. The views of Roundstone Bay and the Twelve Bens are amazing. You can watch the fishermen check their lobster pots. The cottage comes with a cozy fireplace and your own Connemara pony. Roundstone is a five minute drive away by car. Lively Clifden town is about thirty minutes away. Make sure to take the beatiful Bog Road.

We've been back to the cottage so many times, and each time was as special as the first - when we celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary!
And we'll hopefully be back again, before we move home to South Africa!
Geraldine is always extremely accommodating. :)

.... The perfect, fuss-free place to unwind!
