Dont get yourself the illusion this is a quiet place, only during the day. I didn't feel welcome and every question seemed to much. No warm welcome, no information or just some small talk. On the contrary; I had to search the place to find someone to order breakfast or to get me to the dock by boat. They tried to put me in an earlier boat because that suited them better. One roundtrip is for free, they others you pay.

The room was okay but the food is overprized. I had an private room. My bed was probably clean and the floor swept but that was it. Cobwebs everywhere. The platform behind the restaurant has 4 large rooms but are really noise. I could hear my neighbours talk clearly and when they walked, I shaked in my bed. Somewhere around, still don't know where, there's a loud bar (with terrible karaoke). Shower is suprizingly nice. Floors are slippery everywhere. Watch out for that!

Positive is fast wifi (you pay Q15 per day for that!), lots of choice in food (and tasts well) on the menu, coffee, tea and sodas are easy to get and nice area to hang out.

If you're used to hostels, you'll like it if you can afford it. Do you normally stay in hotels? Better not go here

Dont go there. Very unpleasent staff and expensive restaurant. The only thing they care about is your money. Nothing else.they charge you for using the wifi, and every time you want to go to the city......

we spent some beautiful days at casa perico. amazing place, nature, free kayak, excellent fresh made vegetarian food available and all in a layd back and safe atmosphere. A place where you still see the owners working. The rooms are well kept, clean and everything you need is in there: towels, mosquitonets, ...

The layout of the hostel is amazing - cabins in a swamp connected by platforms. The evening buffet was very good. I found the service to be absolutely fine. Yes, it is isolated but this is part of the charm of the place and nobody is obliged to stay.

Very basic accommodation run by very odd Swiss/Germans........ Waiting at the jetty for an hour in Rio Dulce we nearly walked away but unfortunately the guy turned up and took us on his kayak to the HOSTEL. I'm pleased to say I'm still alive to tell the tale but maybe there's others who aren't.............. I would suggest taking a packed lunch as the food is variable and reminiscent that the sloth eats in the film SEVEN with brad pitt. This is an amazing area with an even more amazing boat trip down the rio dulce to Livingston but I'm sure if I return I'll be able to find somewhere better....

Room Tip: The one in the hut

When they handed over the bill at the end of our stay and said 'service was not included', i wasn't sure whether they were talking about the bill or their company motto.

The overall ambiance was off and unfriendly, service was slow and it's kinda hard to tell who works there and who doesn't.

We saw a couple arrive late off the boat in the pouring rain and no one approached them, welcomed them or even said hello which was just totally odd as we watched the awkwardness unfold. The bar and restaurant area also felt awkward, a bit like a doctor's waiting room.

To be fair, it is a beautiful place in gorgeous surroundings and there is free kayak use with free pick up and drop off to Rio Dulce.

PROS
location is beautiful
Free kayak use
Free wifi

CONS
service
Atmosphere
Expensive for food - as most areas off the 'mainland' are

Would we stay here again? No
