Owner description: Remarkable Roman site of a once prosperous town with the capitol, theater and a Punic mausoleum.
Reviewed 28 May 2014

I first visited this Roman site in 1973, well before you readers were born! I returned last year with my wife. This time I had hired a car. Still the same! This is a massive Roman site but very few people go there. Such a pity because the location is fantastic and the ruins extensive. There are also decent local hotels. If you like a beer you need a hotel with a bar because there are no 'pubs' and a bias towards women drinking alcohol in public.

This was in the middle of nowhere in the Atlas mountains - a beautiful location. The Roman site is very well preserved. A good tour guide is essential to get the best out of these ruins.

If you like ruins then this is an absolute must - a large site with streets, houses, theatres, baths and temples. The guide was knowledgeable and brought the town to life - a wonderful wonderful afternoon.
