My husband and I stayed here last year while attending the Bath and West Show and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had an excellent meal. Staying for a few days near Glastonbury we thought we would go back for a meal. On our arrival we found out that it had changed hands in the last couple of weeks but thank goodness the same chef and front of house staff remained the same.Excellent food and service, we will be back.

We had attended the Motorhome show at the nearby Royal Bath & West Showground. It had started to rain in earnest not long after our arrival and as the vans we were interested in were mainly outside we had got very chilled and wet during the course of the day. It was lovely to arrive at the Manor House Inn and be shown to a warm & cosy room. Yes, as a previous reviewer says, some of the furniture in the room is "shabby chic" but it's a matter of taste as to whether you like it. I noticed that the lighting fitments, bathroom fitments and the curtains (not often you see hand made interlined curtains) were of exceptionally good quality and I thought that a lot of thought had gone into decorating the room. We dashed over to the bar for a quick drink and it was lovely sitting near the open fire whilst we warmed up. Later that evening we returned to the restaurant which is very cosy - OK no 2 tables match and there are a selection of different chairs, but this just adds to the old world charm.

Our dinner was excellent. My husband had the Rump of Lamb with Garlic & Thyme Red Cabbage, Port & Red Wine Sauce £16.50 which was really tender with lots of complimentary flavours in the accompaniments and I had the Pork Fillet with Stilton Potatoes, Dijon Mustard Sauce & Crispy Leeks £15.50 - again a great combination of flavours. We followed it up with a cheeseboard shared between us £6.95. It included a good selection really nice local cheeses.

We slept extremely well and thoroughly enjoyed a huge English Breakfast the next morning. The staff were friendly yet professional and I'd recommend the hotel/restaurant any time. If I have a minor niggle, the chambermaids could sharpen up and remember to mop the corners of the tiled floor in the bathroom as they were gathering dust, plus the towel rail needed a good wipe, but the sanitary fittings were all clean & sparkling. I'd only booked 2 days before and paid £55 for our overnight stay via Laterooms.com which was really outstanding value. I'd certainly stay again if I needed to be in that area.

Stayed 3 nights at the Manor House Inn, which is centrally located for Bath, Wells, Glastonbury etc. Room we got was a twin. It was clean and well equipped. Had a problem with one room heater and it was fixed immediately no fuss. All staff were really helpful, capable, friendly. There are no other eateries close by so we ate in the bar three nights running and the atmosphere food and service were fantastic. Tasty, quick service, nicely presented, interesting. Breakfasts included and also excellent.
Only small niggles were slats repeatedly falling out of one bed, and noisy fan in bathroom. Not a big deal but would be simple to fix. I did not mention it at the time but probably should have as they were so good to deal with and would have been onto it I am sure. Overall a very pleasant stay and great value.

Room Tip: All rooms looked good. Easy parking and fast free internet also.

My wife and I spent two nights here for a short break.
Having read the Reviews we were expecting a very favourable reaction when we first saw it as we approached. Sadly the overall impression was of a place that desperately needed decorating, paint was peeling off the window frames and as we entered from the car park to check in, we noticed that the door was virtually dropping to bits.
Once inside, the interior was very much as you would expect a traditional country pub to be, quaint, warm, well decorated and we were treated in a very professional, yet friendly manner and shown to our room.
The three bedrooms are situated separately from the main building in a mews development.
First impressions were not good, the bedroom itself was plain, small and contained 'shabby chic' furniture, more shabby than chic ( I always feel that it is an excuse to use old redundant furniture that would normally be a candidate for the local tip!!).
The room was clean but once again needed some attention to the decoration.
Adjoining the bedroom was the bathroom, roughly the same size as the bedroom, and this was quite modern and well equipped, although the lavatory seat still had a retail sticker on it and the whole seat needed adjustment. Once again attention to the small details required.
The atmosphere in the inn was excellent and we enjoyed our evening meal chosen from a varied menu and the range of beers was good.
Breakfast on the first day was really good but on the second occasion not so good, with undercooked bacon and egg and, not able to provide fried bread!!!
Overall, lovely village location with the opportunity to see Paul Nicholls' horses being worked out every day, close to places of interest. Friendly and pleasant staff, but the whole place needs sharpening up.

Dear Chris
thank you for your review. I didn't respond at the time as we had just bought the pub and knew that some of your comments need addressing. I'm pleased to say that we now have a completely new management team in place as well as a new chef. We have also added 2 more letting rooms to the 3 that existed when you stayed. All the rooms have been re-decorated with new bathrooms being installed throughout. We also have a new meeting room/private dining room decorated to a classy standard. Please come back, it would be good to get your new opinion.

We have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed.

The menu is varied and caters for those just wanting a snack to those who want a full meal.

The bar staff are always friendly and professional.

There is always a nice bubble of locals at the bar.

Good selection of ales and cider.

Food is presented well and is always very tasty. Good portion size and value for money.

Only downside is that it is often cold in the bar if you are too far away from the log burner.

We recently stayed at The Manor for one night whilst in Somerset to go to Wincanton Races and had a meal there in the evening.
The Inn is beautifully presented and exactly what you expect a village Inn to be- quaint, pretty, warm and welcoming and clean.
We had a couple of drinks in the bar whilst admiring all their beautiful racehorse paintings and then ate in the dining room. For the racing enthusiast it is heaven!
We had eaten here previously and the food then had set a very high standard. And it still is!! Our meal can only be described as superb and they thoroughly deserve their Michelin Guide Recommendation. The staff were very friendly and attentive and we both agreed that it was the best meal out that we have ever had and was excellent value for money, We will be making the trip up from Cornwall again soon!
The room- we stayed in The Kauto Star suite- was clean, spacious and lovely and warm. The bathroom was a very good size and modern and up to date. We had a good nights sleep and then had a super full English to look forward to in the morning.
We cannot recommend The Manor enough. We only wish we lived nearer!!

While travelling with elderly parents, we needed to find a place to stay and eat at the last minute after a visit to Wells Cathedral. Manor House Inn fit the bill perfectly. The staff was very kind and helpful, the rooms very clean and comfortable and the food quite delightful. The bathroom mirror would require a stepstool for me to use, but that was honestly the only very small downfall in our room, and the wonderfully powerful shower and heated floors more than made up for that. We'll be back!
