“Magnificent view and outstanding food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2012

The brasserie at the Europe Hotel & Resort is not only well appointed and with a view that must be hard to beat. Service here as one would expect is excellent and the food is very very good. The menu is well thought out and caters for all tastes and humours. The food combinations are terrific and the breads, made on the premises are absolutely fantastic, full marks to all of the catering staff. Whilst partaking of this excellent food one looks out on the lake an idyllic setting and one that makes you want linger. If you should be anywhere near this hotel do treat yourself and have a
wonderful meal in a beautiful setting.

I love coming to the Europe Hotel with its sheer luxuriousness. It is quality beyond anything else that does it for me.

The Spa staff are wonderful, Michael assisted me with the state of the art gym, I enjoyed my daily trip there and the beautiful apples at the end of a hard workout.

The spa cafe is quite with complimentary magazines serving lovely food and drinks!

I love sitting in the foyer reading the daily paper with a pot of coffee and of course those delicious scones with cream and that very fruity jam.

The restaurant serve's late into the night and is ideal when the children are in bed, We can still get beautiful food and just sit and relax with a drink or two maybe even 3 or more. The staff were very nice and acknowledges the importance of our time.

The scenery is just amazingly beautiful, I experienced the outside Jacuzzi pool in the snow earlier this year which was to die for.

I find the staff very professional and helpful. They are great with extra requests and goes to great lengths to assist you.

we stayed in The Europe last week for 5 nights and wow it was a fantastic experience. I have stayed in The Ritz Carlton, I have stayed in Hayfield Manor, I have stayed in The G, but this beat them all, how have I not heard about this hotel before? It is exactly what you see on the website and more (usually a hotel is never as nice in real life?) If you like friendly five star with a plush not boring feel, The Europe is for you. The food was fabulous and reasonably priced, the spa was amazing (its an ESPA, was better than the one in the ritz) and the views from the hotel are stunning. The Europe is a destination in itself but then on top of that you have all the gorgeous things to do in Killarney & Kenmare, we could easily have stayed another 5 days and not ran out of things to do. Bear in mind that at the moment (Oct 2012) it's low season so the hotel is very quiet midweek,we felt as if we owned it! but then it really filled up at the weekend. Dont forget to try the complimentary pony riding with Bob, it was lots of fun.
My only gripe, if you'd even call it that, is that The Panomara restaurant lacked atmosphere on the Saturday night, despite being busy. I think its the lighting, they have candles galore in the rest of the hotel, but not here. They should put some candlebras along the windowsill or something, as it was way too bright in there. But that was as bad as it got!
If you are going off season, mid week and last minute, like we were, dont be afraid to bargain over the price. we made them an offer for a suite that was alot less than their quoted prices and they said yes. but i suppose that only works at the last minute and if you are prepared to go elsewhere. we were very glad we got to stay at The Europe and we will definitely be back.

It's our second stay at The Europe and we LOVE it! Especially since the renovations! The restaurant design is now five star! Not like the place from the seventies it was before. The food was amazing! We waited AGES for our main course, due to two very large tables. We didn't complain or made a fuss as we were totally chilled but we were starved! The restaurant manager was very apologetic and offered the wine. Commercial gesture appreciated. Breakfast was great! A 5 star buffet.
The ESPA is still truly amazing! For me it's the best spa in Ireland. The hotel was very busy but you don't feel overcrowded. It's truly relaxing.
The room was extremely spacious and refurbished to Hugh standards. The bathroom just perfect with separate bath & shower!
Basically a true 5 star hotel now!! We will be back.

Just back from a two night stay in the Europe. Wow!! The scenery is incredible over looking the lake, and as other reviewers have said no expense has been spared on the grounds and public areas. Just beautiful and very luxurious.

Our room was lovely, balcony over looking the lake was wonderful. Definitely ensure you have a room with balcony and lake view from 2nd floor up. Water provided in the rooms and a well stocked minibar. Beds extremely comfortable and nice bathrooms with separate shower and bath. I was surprised there was no aircon- the rooms do get stuffy overnight. We left the large patio door open which helped with that.

The spa is fantastic- the outdoor thermal pool very relaxing where you can again enjoy the breathtaking views. Treatments were great and the staff very friendly and most helpful.

Food was excellent- we ate in the hotel both nights. On the first morning breakfast was great, we were seated immediately, brought tea coffee and toast, helped ourselves to the buffet. I do prefer table service at a five star of this level but the buffet was of a very high standard.

The second morning breakfast was a disaster. No restaurant manager visible, nobody seating people. We wandered around and when I eventually asked a member of staff about seating I was told to "just sit anywhere". The breakfast area was extremely busy so it was difficult to find a table. We eventually did - nobody came to offer us tea/coffee. Again we had to get up to nab one of the staff to ask for this and we're greeted with a grunt. He did return with tea/coffee but no toast and no clean ware for our table! I had to go to another table and just take a cup! I was really annoyed and this was appalling service in any hotel not to mind the top five star in the country. It was like we entered a different hotel to the previous morning. Not good enough. Clearly they were having serious staffing issues that morning.

Despite the breakfast fiasco we did really enjoy our stay and I would still highly recommend this hotel. It's very relaxing and you really have a sense of getting away from it all. With the issues above sorted I can see how it would earn the title of best five star......it's a beautiful hotel

Very recently stayed at The Europe Hotel & Resort for two nights - this property has recently been awarded the best 5 Star Hotel in Ireland - big title - so I had to see what it was all about.

From my very initial email with Jennifer in reservations (very professional and efficient) right through to departure, this hotel truly deserves the recent title awarded. The product itself is finished to an amazing standard and the quality of everything you come in contact with his ultimate luxury. The hotel is so big and spacious in every way which really gives that sense of pure luxury and really helps in creating an exceptional experience for guests.

Check in was fast, friendly and efficient Aisling is a great receptionist, extremely professional. They did say my room was ready on check in, however, when I went to the room, housekeeping were still cleaning it so we needed to walk about for 15 minutes - which was fine. About an hour later a housekeeping supervisor just arrived in the room not realising we were checked in. She apologised and mentioned she was just double checking the room as she thought we had not arrived yet. Good to see it happens!

Dinner in The Brasserie was great - the food is truly amazing throughout. Breakfast was exceptional and the buffet looked great. A special mention to the breakfast chef and the lady maintaining the buffet - both from Kerry and very welcoming and engaging on both mornings. The quality of the display, crockery, table settings, furniture, were again excellent.
Lot's of staff on duty which was great, again, all adding to a five star experience.
The restaurant was closed on Tuesday & Wednesday night which was a pity as were were going to go on the second night - it really should have been mentioned to us on check in.

The ESPA Spa and Fitness area was again finished to an exceptional standard - truly five star. The quality of the whole area was just great. The outdoor hot-tub and its back drop is just a unique experience. Although the hotel was really busy with an American incentive group, the hotel was so big, that you wouldn't of even noticed.

The outside area of the hotel was just as nice as the inside. The walk down to the lake, the boathouse, was really nice. The hotel is located outside Killarney - not that far. Taxi's arrive all the time so the wait is not long and its not expensive.

The staff were great, so many Kerry people, great to see! Padraig at Concierge, Aisling at Reception, the night porter, all very professional and made you feel very welcome.

Overall a great experience and The Europe deserves it's award. The entire team here do a great job and seem to really enjoy what they do, well done & well deserved, we'll be back!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are a must - the view is amazing.

Stayed recently for along weekend and this hotel is very special. The standard room we had was roomy and very well decorated and the bathroom was excellent especially the showers. It all looks newly decorated. Staff everywhere in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. We used the spa and as we had it mostly to ourselves it was fantastic. We availed of a package which included 2 nights B&B, 1 dinner and a guided climb of corran tuathail, which made the weekend very good value.

Room Tip: The little extra for lakeview rooms is well worth it
