Stayed here for three nights (Friday - Monday) in August. We had a Junior Suite overlooking the gardens, lake & mountains and the view from the balcony, over the lake to the mountains, was spectacular. Regularly travel to Norway and the scenery over the lake was reminiscent of the Norwegian mountains and lakes, but at several hundred meters lower altitude.

We ate in both the Brasserie and the Panorama Restaurant and the food in both was excellent, with the Panorama being superb, up there with some Michelin star restaurants in London.

The staff were always helpful and courteous and service in the bars was always attentive and helpful

Will definitely stay here again the next time we are looking to travel to Kerry

This hotel is 5 star but on our visit there was no atmosphere the public areas there was nobody sitting about. The porter said that the hotel was busy but that's not what we found. We were in our room for 20 mins and there was a knock at the door and there was maid asking if she could come in and clean our window and the glass on the balcony. (Thought this should have been done before we were given the key)
At dinner the first evening at 20:30 we counted 9 or 10 couples the Panorama dining room which is a very large area. Felt there was no atmosphere in this area. The food and service was excellent.
The room was beautiful with a view out to the lake and over the gardens, the bed you could get lost in it was huge.
At breakfast we were shown to our table asked if we would like tea or coffee, nobody explained the routine about the buffet breakfast where things were. After 20 mins the coffee arrived at the table but no tea after asking the waitress about the tea she said it would be along soon and still nothing about the breakfast serving, my wife walks with the assistance of a walking stick and nobody offered to assist her. I managed to wander over to the breakfast area and get some breakfast for my wife then go and get my own breakfast. Still no tea. The breakfast was really nice and plenty of it with fresh food being brought out often. There was no waiting at the food serving areas and the dining was busy.
In all we enjoyed our stay, but it was a shame about the atmosphere in this beautiful hotel.

Room Tip: Just hope that when visit it has a better atmosphere in the public areas. Get a room with a lake vi...

spent 3 days at this amazing hotel in august . The standard of furnishings, artwork and interior plushness in general is superb. the food is delicious and of the highest international standard. The staff are highly professional from the front desk to the dining room. We had spacious rooms overlooking the gardens and the lake with ever changing light on the mountains. ( One area not to keen on was the pool , great views out ,however dark grey almost black interiors difficult to see steps etc. )

Room Tip: direct lake view over terrace

The Hotel Europe is a huge hotel, the entrance of which belies it’s true size. Fortunately, it never felt too big, as it’s cleverly designed to have lounges and public areas regularly across the hotel which serve to break up the long corridors and remove any crowds so they’re largely unseen.

What really sets this hotel apart is the service and views. The view of the lake and mountains is simply stunning and can be enjoyed from the bar or extensive gardens which are beautifully tended and roll effortlessly all the way down to the shore. Many rooms also share this view and even the one I had at the side looked over trees and fields.

The service is exemplary, with great, inconspicuous staff who tend to your needs effortlessly. I was there for a conference and the facilities were truly world class, with lots of wide open areas to break out to and well appointed conference rooms, so with those spectacular views. Breakfast is served looking over those views too - get there early to bag a seat by the window.

I didn’t take advantage of the spa and other facilities but others who did said they were first class.

Food and choice of beer and wines was also notable, hence this hotel is worthy of my rarely given 5 stars! An excellent base for golfers and those wanting to explore the beautiful surrounding areas.

we had a generous voucher as a wedding present. It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. We had a fabulous wknd.
Tho there was some negatives: I felt in some ways it was such a big hotel that it lacked some atmosphere..
The service was very impersonal.
The breakfast is self service.. I do not like this in a 5 star.
Our room was not ready until 5:30p,m. We were given no apology. We could only sit in the bar and wait. The weather was so hot, the least they could have done was offer us a beverage or something. This was very disappointing after spending quite a bit on our wknd.

But our meal was fantastic, the cocktails were beautiful, the weather was fantastic so we made great use of the outdoor pool.

We stayed at the Europe for two nights in July 2013. It was a grand hotel with the most amazing view. The pictures on their website do not do this location justice. Having a drink or eating dinner on the patio looking at Killarney National Park...it just doesn't get any better. If you can splurge for a room with a lakeview, you should. The pool and spa overlook at the lake and mountains as well. We never used them but they looked really nice. The rooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms have been nicely remodeled. The restaurant food and breakfast were good not great but we found that to be the case throughout our trip. The staff was very friendly. This was by far our nicest accomodation on this trip. We will stay longer on our next visit as it seems to be a great jumping off point to a variety of sights and cities. Unfortunately, Killarney itself wasn't as impressive as this hotel. Too touristy! But the gorgeous lake and park along with a good location makes this a return spot for us on our next trip.

Room Tip: Get a room with a lake view.

The setting is simple stunning and well worth paying the extra for a lake view room. Service is equally as impressive. The wife thoroughly enjoyed the spa and purchased one or two of the products used during her treatments and offered for aftersales. Food was excellent at every meal time. Rooms very well appointed and supremely comfortable. Sitting on the balcony in the evening drinking champagne looking straight out over the lake and watching the deer rambling through the hotel gardens as the sun set was so relaxing. Some very pleasant walks around the hotel grounds too. We will be doing this one again.

Room Tip: pay the extra for full lake view
