“Wonderful B & B”
Reviewed 14 October 2012

Our one night stay here was fabulous. The location is quiet, but with a beautiful view of the lake. I took a morning walk along the lake which was very enjoyable. The staff was so helpful with dinner recommendation in Killarney and directions. Breakfast was excellent. We were on a 19 day trip in the U.K./Ireland and our room here was one of the best anywhere. If you are traveling in this part of Ireland, I highly recommend you stay at Loch Lein Country House.

On a recent holiday in Ireland we stayed at the beautiful Loch Lein Country house. Situated about 4 kilometres out of Killarney in a quiet cul de sac near the lake.

Upon arrival we were welcomed by a staff member with tea and cake until the return of the proprietors. The sitting room had a beautiful view through the large windows to the lake and picturesque gardens. Free wi-fi available to guests here.

The room was spacious with the same lovely view. It was very clean and comfortable, the bathroom being large with an efficient hot water system.

Breakfast was included and consisted of cereal, fruit salad, juices, pastries and the full Irish cooked breakfast. It was freshly prepared and delightful.

We found the proprietors to be very friendly and very willing to give advice about the area. They recommended and booked a restaurant for us which lived up to the wonderful standard of Irish food and service.

We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy this beautiful place.

We are Mother and daughter on our first trip abroad. Being from a small rural town in North Georgia, USA, we were made to feel right at home. We were welcomed immediately and treated like family. The proprietor and staff were extremely helpful with directions to nearby places and we felt safe and secure. During our 2 wk. tour of South and North Ireland we found no place more accomodating than Loch Lein, Fossa, Killarney.

Room Tip: Center room with large windows had breathtaking view

Loch lein country house is run by a wonderful couple. It has a home like feel with amazing lake and mountain views. On our Europe journey we stayed in 3 different countries and this b&b made us feel like catered guests. The breakfast was superb and fresh every morning. The staff was friendly and genuine in helping with directions and things to do while in Killarney. Rooms were clean and had country feel to them. I can say I felt relaxed and comfortable here listening to the birds chirping and walking down to watch the sheep graze in the meadow. What a lovely place.

The minute we arrived, Paul welcomed us and made us feel like we were special. The setting is so beautiful that you actually feel it in your soul. The rooms are large & clean. The bathrooms luxurious. The food is outstanding and the service impeccable. When we think of Loch Lein Country House we get truly nostalgic. This is a "don't miss" if you travel to Ireland.

We were two couples from the Atlantic-Canadian province of Nova Scotia on a self-drive around Ireland. Booked for three nights in September at the Loch Lein Country House, we" were greeted warmly by our host Paul and staff member Sean.

With a plethora of tourist literature but little knowledge of Ireland, I informed Paul, when asked, that my plan was no plan, that I would approach this part of the trip "spontaneously." We had heard about the Ring of Kerry, but not about the adjoining peninsulas. What we did know was that we had no desire to compete with the tour buses for space on the all-too-narrow roads.

While my husband pondered the pros and cons of driving the Ring, Paul suggested we get on with it. The Dingle, he informed us, might have fewer tour buses, and the scenery was spectacular,

We drove the Dingle and out to Mizen Head and embraced the beauty of it all, all but the flat tire we sustained climbing a mountain road. A new spare was required, but it was Sunday and the shops were closed. Paul graciously loaned us a cell phone so we could sight see within close range but without a spare.

We had the option of contacting Entreprise in a town nearby or finding a local repair shop. We chose the latter, relying, once again, on Paul's sound judgement. Another tyre was supplied at
a good price and we were on our way in no time.

Spontaneity and indecision got us no where, but gentle nudges from Paul worked wonders. Thank you Paul and Annette for being the perfect hosts. Your charming country house with its spacious rooms, beautiful view of the lake, fine walking paths and excellent cuisine made our stay truly memorable, an easy place to recommend.

We recently stayed 4 nights at Lock Lein and it was superb. Paul and Annette were great hosts and made all efforts to make our stay enjoyable, from providing tips on the best Killarney pubs for dinner to helping us route our day trips. The breakfasts were excellent; the rooms spacious, exceptionally clean, and very nicely decorated. From our room we had a wonderful view of the lake, the mountains, and Loch Lein grounds. We highly recommend Loch Lein and do hope to return one day.
