“Dinner for two”

Great location and very nice place to eat. Not the cheapest place to eat on the island but if you want the best then this it. A little tip. Make sure you arrive 30 min prior to sunset.

There is a separate place down stairs called the wine library which can seat 12 people. Now this place is amazing. It has its own cellar and its very dark, you walk down some tight concrete stairs then you come to your own private dark rich setting. Great place.

“Best food, service, view and wine”
Reviewed 2 February 2010

My husband and I are from nearby Auckland and were getting away to Waiheke for a 24 hr stint to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We dined at 3 restaurants within that time, and although the other 2 were great, Cable bay (our last stop for lunch) was by far the best overall experience. The service was excellent, the complimentary (and thier own) olive oil and warm bread was a pleasant surprise (seems to be becoming a thing of the past in alot of fine dining restaurants) the wine list was excellent my favorite (of all NZ rose's that I've tried and I've tried alot) is the Rose, exceptional.
The food was sublime, I had the tagliatelle with king prawns and crab, to die for is all I can say. On the otherside from the restaurant was the wine bar and snack menu (perfect we thought to bring the kids so they can enjoy a bowl of fries and run around on the expansive front lawn looking over towards the sea) while we sample more of their spledid wine. To the side of the bar was the tasting room ($7 or free when dining) a great experience.

“Superb food service, ambience & views.”
Reviewed 26 January 2010

There are several vineyards with great restaurants on Waiheke Island and this is no exception. The sculpture exhibition was a bonus. The fish of the day ( John Dory) was fresh and cooked to perfection. The wine list including their own wines was exciting and the rose was sublime! Their Gold medal Olive Oil and olives and freshly bakked bread were a great start to a superb lunch. A 1/2 hour ferry ride from downtown Auckland this is well worth the effort to go. Bookings smetimes necessary especially on weekends.

“Relaxed fine dining”
Reviewed 22 September 2009

Our hosts at "Breakfast on the Beach" suggested we try this restaurant, and they did not let us down. The staff were friendly, attended to what we wanted without being fussy, and the kitchen served the most delicious food. Accompanied by a bottle of fine Waiheke island wine, this was a lovely meal in beautiful surroundings with a magnificent view. And to top it off, instead of ringing for a taxi. the staff took us back to our accommodation in their car - how lovely was that!
