not as good as prev

we are frequent visitors to this site over many years ,it's location is ideal for us ,the general facilities are ok and as expected ,however many aspects of the restaurant have very much deteriorated since our last visit ,the full breakfast had much to be desired the sausage was poor which was odd as assumed this would be a nationally sourced item much of the other items on offer were poorly presented ,i had to remove 2 place from the rack as they had baked on food and it was clear the dish washer has issues, all the plates were cold when they were always heated in previous premier inn visits ,the scrambled egg was runny the fried eggs overdone and the tomatoes were clearly old in taste , i ordered a porridge which i got when i had just about finished my meal and was so bad i would have needed a knife and fork to eat it ,i would say all this is a staff quality or numbers and got the impression some need customer care training , this is a hotel i have used for many years and the first bad experience i have had , i suppose i could have complained but doubt any current staff member would rectify a poor service, the wi fi was shocking and kept logging off ,i think the change to virgin has much to do with its failures and i reverted to using my 4 g to get anything done ,all done probably to force you onto paying for the premium service offered ,

I felt the staff repeated their "script." It didn't seem like they were talking to me rather at me. The room itself was clean and tidy. The breakfast was poor quality, the fried eggs were poorly cooked and although they were put out whilst I was serving myself they felt 'rubbery' and were cold. The continental breakfast, there was no choice of bread rolls, or cheeses, these weren't even an option. fruit was limited. For the amount of money we paid whetherspoons would've been a better choice!!

Overall the stay was ok. However the fire alarm went off at 4:45am meaning we had to evacuate the premises which we couldn’t explain to our 4 year old as he has autism. On departure I asked the receptionist what had caused the alarm, to which she replied it was a fault on the hotel system. There was no organisation from staff, no checking that everyone had left the premises, and zero communication until the doors were reopened an hour later.

You know what to expect with a Premier Inn.
However our rooms wasn't as we expected. Smelt of damp, poor air circulation.
Fire alarm went off at 5am and had to evacuate.
Food in pub was average at best.

It’s no good having a comfy bed if you cannot sleep a wink because all the rooms are so hot. The whole hotel was scorching even though it was only 18 degrees outside . Goodness knows what it was like in the summer. No air con. Windows open no more than a couple of inches and on a slant so impossible to cool the room at all. They were so aware of the problem they provided a fan in every room which was ineffective and notices saying we could request sheets rather than duvet! Almost No sleep in the 3 nights I was there. They either need to get air con or at least change windows to fully opening. Also the reception area v small so no where to sit out of the room. Floor boards are incredibly creaky and I heard every footstep of my upstairs as well as next door neighbours. Lastly the pub attached has serious staffing issues and was full each night so nowhere to eat. I checked it out and it was not full - half empty. According to a recent staff member they cannot get staff so do not book out the tables. Not my usual good premier inn experience to say the least.

If you really must go then fyi it is located on a small business estate about 2 miles out of town. No facilities nearby other than a daytime cafe called niles (which is a small chain and actually very good. Lovely people.) Hotel Rooms at the back to the north have less traffic noise. Those on the south side have a distant view of the sea but probably even hotter as south facing.

Room tip: rooms facing north are slightly less hot
