“Beautiful spot, warm staff, great fod”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

We were in Rincon for 10 days for a sandwich-style family vacation (my husband and I, plus our 2 children and their grandparents), and had several opportunities to visit Tamboo for lunch, afternoon refreshments and dinner too. Each time we stopped, we were greeted and treated so warmly by the staff. Not only was their team welcoming, they were very attentive and patient with our somewhat high-maintenance group.
The location is fabulous, right on the surf, so lots to see in the morning and afternoon, and the sunset views are fantastic.
The food is good - the menu has a lot of variety and I was impressed how fresh everything was. One day we saw the fresh tuna being hauled to the kitchen in the fisherman's arms (skewers with coconut rice); the next, mahi mahi, (which was used in a fantastic ceviche).
Considering the view, the staff, and the quality if food and drinks, I found the prices to be completely reasonable.
I'm surprised to see less favorable reviews than ours - we have 4 data points - each very positive.

Great oceanfront views. We ate dinner here the food was good the mojitos were better and the live music was outstanding. Our little children had so much fun dancing to the music.

“Beautiful oceanfront view, OK food, overpriced”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

I ordered the Tempura onion salad for $11.65. It was the outside of a medium sized onion fried with raw onions and tomatoes inside, and included 2 very small pieces of Gouda wrapped in prosciutto. Definitely overpriced and not enough for a meal!! Drinks were delicious and I tasted someone else's tuna salad which was great.

“Could be so much better”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

Amazing location - right on Sandy Beach. I am sure this location guarantees a steady flow of patrons which means they can get by with uninspired service and food while overcharging. $10 for kids buttered noodles? $12 for a fish sandwich?....sure if it's fresh food made by someone who knows and cares about what they're doing. Thus place is not that. They're coasting and it's not enjoyable to witness. This place has the location that could bring up the profile of the whole neighborhood. Sadly they're missing this opportunity.

“Surf, view... Tamboo!”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

We were a party of four (husband, daughter (18), friend (17) and myself). We went for the sunset and sat on the deck (terrace). Beautiful view of the sunset behind the big boulder wall. It is set on Sandy beach, which a nice one (not so rocky) to sit on (chairs are nice if you can bring them). A few late night, local surfers surfed the night set.

We had some awesome Mojito's (drinking age is 18, so daughter liked them too). The food was also very good. We had ribs (x2), grilled chicken sandwich, and grouper. Our favorite was the calamari (appetizer) - way better than we had at Shipwrecked the night before. All together our tab was about $120.00.

Our waitress was not the best, but the view (setting) and food made up for it.

We would go again.
