“Gorgeous Sea Front Bed & Breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2012

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon here in Rincon and couldn't be happier with our decision to stay here. The location is great, the staff is fantastic, and waking up to the sound of the ocean is something we will not soon forget. Having a fantastic breakfast served up every morning at 9AM in front of our room, which is directly in front of the ocean, is just beyond words.

The staff was extremely accommodating to our needs when we first got "settled in", and gave us great recommendations as far as places to eat/go/visit. As mentioned above, the breakfast is outstanding, and then when we would come back to the room later in the day, the room was cleaned extremely well. The staff was always friendly and was never bothered by us asking them questions.

Worth noting; you are right by the ocean, so depending on the tide, you'll definitely hear it while falling asleep. I love it! Others might be a bit surprised, but I assure you, it's definitely not a bad thing at all. You also get to hear the sounds of the local frogs while you fall asleep; it's really great.

Can't recommend this place enough!

This is perhaps one of the most difficult reviews that I have had to write for TripAdvisor. In some ways, we had a wonderful stay and could recommend the Inn. But, in other ways, our expectations were not met and we felt that the price for the accommodations was too high.

Part of the disappointment may be from the stellar reviews we read here from other guests. There is always that problem when your hopes are built very high and not met. Some examples: we expected very outgoing and welcoming hosts, but this did not feel genuinely the case. Yes, at times Lisa (one of the owners) took some time to chat with us and gave us some advice on restaurants; but other times, it felt as if we were intruding on her privacy. Harry (spouse), whom we had read was so outgoing and welcoming, seemed preoccupied and dismissive the one time we passed him on the beach. The nicest person at the Inn was Lisa and Harry's daughter. But she seemed completely overworked and it was a bit uncomfortable to see her trying to handle so many things on her own. The closest thing I could compare this to is when you stay with relatives and somehow you feel that you have walked in on them in the middle of some type of family dispute or problem. They are trying to be nice, but really are not happy.

So, maybe we were there on an off week. It happens to everyone and we could have overlooked this. But, where we felt the prices exceeded the value was the condition of the property. Yes, it is a beautiful location - right on the beach. But, the rooms need to be updated and kept in better condition. Almost all the doors that lead in and out of the unit are either broken or leaking. Instead of fixing the locks, they use wooden dowels to keep the doors shut. This doesn't make you feel very secure. Also, the appliances are outdated and some do not work properly. The kitchen is sparsely furnished, so trying to cook or serve meals can be a challenge. The bathroom is nicely decorated - maybe if they could expand those touches to the rest of the units, it would help. As for the rest of the property, some of it has nice offerings - free library with books/dvds to borrow is welcoming. We did not hear loud music during our stay, so we enjoyed the quiet. But, their spa is broken and no apology was given. Also, they charge for renting paddle boards and other ocean equipment (non-motorized) - this is usually not the case in an intimate B&B, but more often found in a corporate resort.

In summary, we feel that If we are going to pay $350/night in Rincon, the property should be much better maintained and more attention to detail should be paid. I think when we return to Puerto Rico, we will try another hotel or Inn.

TresSirenas, Owner at Tres Sirenas Beach Inn, responded to this review, 26 November 2012
Tres Sirenas Beach Inn is the pride and joy of our family. In the nine years we have been open we have welcomed hundreds of well traveled individuals, couples and families, many of whom we are very fortunate to now consider dear friends that we welcome back year after year. As hosts of a family run business each of us are available to share our knowledge of the area, and attend to the needs of our guests, while simultaneously maintaining our property and preparing breakfasts for our guests. Running a family business is a lot of work, but its very rewarding and we are thankful to all our guests and excellent staff for making our dream of owning a Caribbean oceanfront inn a reality. This is life in paradise.
We are careful as hosts to not overstep our boundaries intruding on the guests privacy, and their quality time with friends, family and loved ones. Its always a pleasure to share conversation with our guests. Those guests who seek full time entertainment from staff might be better advised to choose accommodations expressly designed as such, in our experience all inclusive resorts, cruises or Disney World would be the best choice for families who desire this type of vacation.
We are always grateful at Tres Sirenas for the consistent praise and recommendation from professional travel writers and well traveled guests as well. Oceanfront property in the Caribbean is rare and expensive. Professionals in tourism recognize our value with great consideration given to our location, well maintained facilities, and comfortable accommodations. Tres Sirenas is a small Inn, we are not a resort, and do not advertise ourselves as such.
As a convenience to our guests we have an arrangement with a local surf company that provides onsite rental of stand up paddle boards and kayaks. This is expensive equipment, not provided by any other Inn or resort in our area free of charge. We take the time to facilitate the equipment, brief guests in how to use the equipment, and clean the boards and kayaks after each use, the nominal rental fees are warranted. Guests who choose Tres Sirenas enjoy it's direct oceanfront location and amenities, and are aware of the advantages, conveniences and luxury of staying on the beach as opposed to driving their cars or walking to the beach, during their precious vacation time. Snorkel equipment is provided free of charge.
I would like to specifically address some of the complaints of funtootravel. The rate charged for a family of 4 for our Sea View apartment is $300 per night plus taxes. This rate includes a delicious homemade breakfast served privately, a good breakfast out in Rincon averages$12.50 per person, our guests have always been pleased to wake up to hearty served breakfast on their own verandah with a direct oceanfront view. The well appointed kitchen in this unit features stainless steel GE appliances, including dishwasher, full set of dishes, cups, wine glasses, pots, pans, blender, coffee maker, toaster and a variety of cooking utensils. When a well know Contestant from Top Chef joined us at Tres Sirenas, they found everything they needed to prepare an elaborate gourmet meal, as do our personnel chefs that are available to prepare gourmet meals here for you during your stay. If guests have a special request as a gourmet cook I would be happy to loan them anything I had if not available in the kitchen.
The guests stayed with us during the torrential rain and wind while tropical storm Issac pounded the Puerto Rican Coast, if they experienced any leaks, they certainly did not let us know, and we have not observed any leaks. We will always do our best to maintain our home and investment as best we can, and appreciate all suggestions in ways we can improve. An oceanfront property does take a beating due to the elements. We are very proud of our well maintained accommodations. We recently completely refurbished our pool and painted, as we do every year. The pool and jacuzzi are not heated, as the water is maintained at a comfortable and refreshing temperature appropriate for our hot climate. The jacuzzi has never been broken. It is important that guests traveling to the west coast understand the limitation of a Caribbean Island, we do not always have available to us the newest and flashiest appliances, hardware, and furnishings. What we offer is a quaint, clean and beach casual well appointed comfortable accommodation. One must always consider the context in which they judge things. To the extent that this was "perhaps the hardest review" funtootravel ever had to write, is it perhaps that the review is not based on fact, and is was a hurtful, unjust criticism of our family.
We wish you all the best for the Holidays, sunny skies, warm breezes, happiness and good health for the New Year.

Beautiful Inn, my wife and I have stayed many times and have always had amazing trips to this tropical paradise! The rooms pool and beach are beautiful, and the breakfasts are amazing! There is a lot to do within a short walking distance from the Inn. I recommend this B&B over all other places in puerto rico and really encourage anyone going to the island to stay at this local Gem!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful but the penthouse(s) are stunning!

This quaint little B&B is right on the beach on a nice street. The owners and all of the staff are jusst great. They are extremely helpful and nice. The food was excellent. Every day we woke up to a fresh breakfast already set up and ready for us to eat. One morning we left to go diving early, so they made us breakfast the day before and left it in our refrigerator. There is a wi-fi in the rooms. It went out one night, but it otherwise worked. There is a small pool that is not heated (it does not need to be in September). This location has easy access to anything in Rincon. There is a decent restaurant that is walking distance (Rincon Tropical) and a grocery store about 2 blocks away. We dove with the local dive shop (Taino Divers) and they were also great and safe.

The only knock on this location is the hotel next door. Unfortunatley, through no fault of the owners who clearly don't like this, the hotel plays loud music every night. Do not hope for a quiet night next to the pool, because the music won't permit it. They are not great neighbors.

We are very thankful at Tres Sirenas for our many guests. It is always nice to hear how so many enjoy their stay, with many returning year after year now for a great beachfront vacation. We are committed as a small family business to do our best to always provide a a very special oceanfront bed and breakfast experience. We are glad to hear the guests from Texas enjoyed their stay, and are very thankful for their kind words.

The guests reviewing our property stayed for Labor Day Weekend, with many enjoying the last weekend of summer and the hotel next door did have music. Sound does carry oceanfront along the the beach, and there is nothing better then the sound of the crashing waves to lull you to sleep. The hotel does not play music every night, and most find when you close the doors and put the air conditioning on outside sounds are not a problem. We do want guests to know Puerto Rico is a party Island, and our friendly Islanders love a good time. This said you can expect noise to drift in from time to time, simultaneously you will enjoy many nights of tranquility, the smell of salt air, a beautiful sea breeze, and a night sky full of stars! Those seeking absolute quiet might be better advised to choose very secluded lodgings in the mountains. Here at Tres Sirenas most will enjoy our great ocean location in the heart of Rincon, where you walk to area restaurants and some beach hotel bars all the while enjoying exclusivity of our small intimate oceanfront lodging.

My wife and I wanted to go somewhere special for our ten year anniversary so we decided to look at Puerto Rico. We originally had booked a room at the Rio Mar Wyndam Resort near the San Juan area. I read a lot of mixed reviews on this website actually so I decided to cancel and take the loss of our deposit to get out of it. With that said...THANK YOU Tripadvisor, we knew the moment we got to the Tres Sirenas that the money we lost on the other place could not have made up for the wonderful experience we would have missed while visiting Rincon. It really is one of Puerto Rico's best kept secrets. So many good restaurants, so many nice people, and such a beautiful place. If you are fortunate enough to stay here make sure that you take the time to walk up the beach away from the hotels. There is a semi-private beach area just around the rocks that is fairly easy to get to when the ocean is calm like it was while we were there. Harry and Emily were amazing hosts and the ladies on staff were so friendly and helpful. We loved our room in the penthouse suite, the pool area, and gourmet breakfast every morning. The drive is about three hours from San Juan but not a bad drive at all. If you are looking for adventure we highly recommend Batey's Zipline Adventure near Utuado about an hour and forty-five minutes east in the mountains. Relaxation is easy to enjoy here as everyone responded to us with a friendly "no worries". Thanks again Harry, Emily, and Friendly Staff for making our trip to Puerto Rico a trip of a lifetime! Room Tip: The Penthouse Suite was one of the nicest places we've ever stayed! We discovered Don Q Rum and...

My husband and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary here two weeks ago. We stayed in the Penthouse, which is very comfortable and private. The terrace overlooks the ocean, and we very much enjoyed eating our breakfast there. You certainly can't beat the location (right on the beach) or the accomodations for the price. While on the beach one morning, I met a woman who was staying at a nearby hotel; she said that she wished she had booked Tres Sirenas - as the hotel was loud and she couldn't hear the waves. I felt bad for her, but very pleased with our choice! For meals, I would recommend cooking some in the room, and walking down the beach to an open-air bar/restaurant that had good food. We also had a wonderful Anniversary meal at the Horned Dorset.

Room Tip: We loved the Penthouse!

We spent two lovely weeks at Tres Sirenas this past February. We stayed in the Sea View Penthouse. The accommodations were extremely comfortable and very private. We enjoyed listening to the sound of the waves and spending many hours on the deck taking in the panoramic view of the ocean. This B & B is perfect for those looking for a relaxing, private getaway in a gorgeous beachfront location. We took advantage of the private chef that is available to prepare dinner. His meals are fit for the most discriminating epicurean palates! The daily breakfast is the best we have had in all of our visits to various bed and breakfast locations. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Lisa was an excellent hostess and made us feel most welcome! We have no hesitation in recommending Tres Sirenas. No doubt…we will return.

Room Tip: All rooms are great and offer an excellent view of the ocean.
