“Perfect Honeymoon Trip”
Reviewed 28 June 2011

We just got back from our Honeymoon in Rincon and was very glad I picked Blue Boy Inn.
All the good reviews are there for a reason. The grounds are beautiful and Marc's attention to detail is obvious. We originally booked the private room 6 but once we arrived Marc said he had another room that we could have that was more centrally located after showing us both we picked the more central room 5 and were glad for his suggestion. The last day we were there the place was supposedly full but you would never know it. The entire place feels very private. The pool area is fantastic, and has both a hot tub and cold tub. The location is is very good, just a few steps to a beach and boat ramp. The beach seems to be used mostly by locals in the evening and it was fun to walk down and watch them play in the water and fish off the rocks. There are a few really nice beaches within a short driving distance, no matter what type of beach you are looking for Rincon has it... good snorkeling beaches, quiet sandy beaches, great beaches to walk along and pick sea glass etc. Marc provides beach chairs, towels, snorkeling gear. The only negative about the place is the air conditioners in the room. The one we had we had to keep it cranked all the way when we were in the room and it still never really got cool, so all you hear at night is the sound of the A/C machine running.

For good food in Rincon check out Shipwrecks, right next door, easy to crawl back to your room after several rum punches. Also there is a Thai place called Ode To the Elephants which is pretty hard to find but worth the effort. The views there are amazing and the food is really good and most things are just $10.

Room Tip: Can't go wrong with any of the rooms

My boyfriend and I just stayed at the Blue Boy Inn for our first trip to Puerto Rico. First off, the inn is breathtaking. The grounds are well kept and clean, and the rooms are stunning and private. Marc, the owner, greeted us on our first day and took us on a tour of the inn, describing everything and making us feel at home. Marc was also very helpful in finding good restaurants and cool things to do. We had a rental car, which allowed us to get around quickly, but the inn is also centrally located in Rincon and everything was easily accessible. The beach was beautiful, only a 2 minute walk from the inn, and a couple great restaurants right nearby (go to Shipwreck, get the rum punch and the Katmandu ;) ). All in all, a perfect vacation, and we will definitely be back!

Mark and his staff were amazing, the breakfast was delicious, the rooms very nice. The ground and pool are clean and beautiful. you can get a bottle of wine and hang out by the pool at night. The only negative was the air conditioner was too low and they ask you to turn it off when you leave the room. So the room is never really cold. Just somewhat comfortable. This time of Year in May, is the slow season in Rincon, because there is no surf, some of the hotels and restaurants close. So dont go between end of May and September. However it was quiet & relaxing, which is what we were looking for. There's a nice restaurant around the corner Shipwreck which was really good. We had the yuca and seafood mofongo.. The portion was huge. If you're looking for some live music and more action you can go to Villa Cofresi. It's a lively bar by the beach on the other side of Rincon. Enjoy!

My husband and I needed to get away and relax and Blue Boy Inn was perfect! The setting is gorgeous, from the covered porch where you can relax on outdoor couches to the pool to the grills available, it is all so well thought out. Even though it is a smaller property, we never felt like we could not find privacy if we wanted it. I am not a huge fan of hanging out at a pool when you are near a beach, but this pool was the exception! It is a very nicely landscaped setting and it was so relaxing to be there - we would go to the beach most of the day and end up by the pool. The breakfast was great, so much selection and always so tasty. Use of the grill was really nice - with a refrigerator in the room, we were able to buy meat and other things and then Marc (owner) provided the necessities such as seasonings, etc. My husband and I like grilling and get tired of eating out every night, so loved the use of the grill. Rincon is a bit more spread out than I had imagined it would be, with driving necessary to get to many places, but we had a GPS and never got lost with it. Use of snorkel equipment is awesome, plus Marc has beach chairs, coolers, mats - everything you need for a day spent at the beach. We would definitely return to Blue Boy!! Some tips about restaurants and things to do: At Steps Beach the snorkeling was easy and fun - saw a sea turtle!. There is a little food place that has a variety of items (it is just off the beach by the parking lot - really refreshing smoothies and some tasty bites for post snorkeling snacking! We paddle boarded - rented from the dive shop next to Blue Boy. That was cheaper than the rental place at the public beach, but I don't think they have a ton of boards so may not work for a larger group. Banana Dang smoothies are great, we ate at Casa Islena and thought that was good (tapas), also at Rincon Tropical restaurant which was NOT good. Drinks watching the sunset at Villa Cofresi was a good time (though the rum drink in a coconut everyone raves about is really not that great - pina colada or a beer was much better!)

My wife and I stayed at the Blue Boy Inn for 5 nights and loved it. We had booked one of the numbered rooms (#4 I think) but upon arrival Marc offered us a free upgrade to pool room B (which we happily accepted). Turns out that we had gotten lucky and picked a week where we were going to be the only guests. We basically had the house (and pool) to ourselves all week long :-)

The Blue Boy premises are great, and our room was sleek, modern, and clean. The pool is nice (5' at its deepest), and there were also a hot tub and jacuzzi on hand (which we didn't really make much use of). There are some fun animals on the property (turtles, some cool birds, Paco the cat), several nice places to sit and eat or read, gas BBQs to use, and a fire pit.

The location is great, as you're right by the beach and right next door to 2 bars and restaurants (both of which I recommend). However I still recommend renting a car. The beach right next to the BB is rocky. If you walk 10 minutes or so you'll reach a sandy beach. It's so much easier to grab a beach chair, cooler of beer, umbrellas, etc from the house (which are provided for free), throw them in the back of a car and drive 2 minutes right up to the sandy beach. There's a parking lot right there (free), 30' from where you'll be lying down in the sand. Super easy. Also, the restaurants next door are great but you'll need a car to explore most other options (definitely go to the tapas place Marc will recommend).

So speaking of those beach chairs, coolers, etc...Marc (the host) is ridiculously generous with the amenities. He has free beach chairs, coolers, umbrellas, snorkel equipment, boogey boards, etc that you can just use whenever you want. He also lets you essentially raid the fridge to some extent. As guests leave behind beers, spices and sauces for cooking, etc, those become communal and you can have them if you want. When have you ever been in a bed & breakfast or a hotel that let you do that?! Also they have a cabinet of left-behind sunscreens, bug sprays, and lotions which you're also welcome to use. So definitely a great host here.

Overall I definitely recommend staying here, and hope to return in the future.

We picked the Blue Boy Inn because there were no negative reviews and I can say that I can see why after staying 3 nights. Mark and Sarah have a wonderful, relaxing inn that is only a short one block walk to a great beach and snorkling. The inn is at the Southern edge of the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve.

When we checked in, Mark showed us around the property. Afterwards, he became the conceirge and gave us beach and dining recommendations. What service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The breakfasts in the morning are top notch. We had read about the English Rose and Banana Dang and wanted to try them. However, Mark's potatoes, eggs, crepes and French toast were so good, we couldn't bear to miss a breakfast.

The inn has everything you can think of for beach use. They provide beach towels, snorkel gear, beach matts and chairs. They think of everything so you don't have too: even bug spray.

The only thing missing was a bar on premises. However, there are two bar/restaurants next door that make a great rum punch for only $3.75 ($2.00 for happy hour). Can't beat that.

This inn is for those that want to relax and that is what my wife and I did. Our days consisted of snorkling and beaching during the mornings and hanging out at the very chic pool in the afternoons. Definitely a good time.

The facilities have a very nice pool and Jacuzzi that you will love. It has everything you need around the pool to have a great time, it can even be a great place to share with friends. Breakfast was great and on time, let me recommend the French Toasts and Omelettes...Great Stuff! Overall, it is a very nice place and will defenetly come back for more...
