Do you enjoy endless queues for sub-standard food, shabby chalets with cracked tiles, the general atmosphere of a building site with few of the amenities offered? Then this is the place for you. The place should have been closed and refurbished rather than run as a going concern. I didn't speak to one person who said they would go back after this experience. Pontins - get your act together!

I went here to celebrate my 60th birthday and anniversary next day. When we arrived at the rundown reception. We got our room keys had two rooms as we took family to help us celebrate the big milestone birthday. Walking to our Classic Club Double top of the range according to the internet page. It was more like Hitchcock's Bates motel, we passed other patrons who were set free from what looked like was the care home. Nothing against that but when advertising adult only we were expecting a more lively sort of time. Not the Donald and Jacqueline Benidorm type but rundown everything. I was close to tears thinking we had chosen a place like this. Food was Ok but tasteless, entertainment not good, except Mark Tuck brilliant vocals. So don't bother wasting your cash until Pontin's close Sand bay and bulldoze the site and rebuild a habitable holiday experience for us serious holiday types.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else I beg you

Stayed at Sand Bay from 16th to 20th June 2014 and 23rd to 27th June 2014 . Worst fortnight of my life. Do not be fooled by the glossy pictures as these do not reflect the real Sand Bay. Hot food not up to the temperature for eating, as it was barely warm, dirty dishes and plates, staff not much help, had to ask on numerous occasions for salad, juice, bread, milk, deserts to be topped up. Bed had marks on the bottom sheet, marks of I do not know what on the towels. No fully equipped gym. As stated in their brochure, concerned that there was no Food Hygiene rating, not disability aware, manager could not handle complaints, staff are leaving all the time. We will not be going again the Sand Bay. The brochure shows a lovely swimming pool, this is not the case, the gardens at one time were looked after, not now as Pontins have taken it over it is more like an obstacle course, dodge the skips. The staff are not professional in their work, very slap happy and could not care less. I did notice that were no AEDs (Automatic External Defibrillators) which I thought they would considering the type of clientèle they have.

Room Tip: Go into Weston itself, plenty of nice rooms there.

This place was so bad that in a fawlty towers sort of way it was amusing. Ive never queued behind 40 people all older than me before and i'm 56, in order to get to a toast machine that char-grilled it well done. The endless empty plates with food run out, when you got there having queued for ages was also good. Soup was awful. Bacon was greasy and fatty. Coffee jet black and disgusting. Entertainment was ok, but if you are under 50, forget it! Not many blue coats. Bingo seemed to pop up at odd times. I noted that number 1 never came up in four days.!!! The open top bus that runs to escape from this living hell is good though. The leaking roof in reception with 2 buckets was an attraction. No sign of promised snooker room and the gym equipment was locked away in a storeroom presumably to protect the clientele who would have dropped dead had they used it!

Seriously, its pretty awful, but dead cheap , so if you fancy the faulty towers experience, go for it.

Room Tip: Go to one of the nearby b and b,s in Kewstoke

Stayed at Sand Bay three nights fri.sat.sun. In June 2014. Camp looks like it was in the process of being modernised, quite a bit of building work going on. That said we only paid £69.00 for the three nights, bed, breakfast and evening meal. The dining room operated on a self service basis, which I prefer, you can chose what you like and take as much as you want. Breakfast was your usual english fair of,bacon, fried eggs, sausage, hash browns, tomatoes, beans, scrambled eggs, tea coffee and fruit juice It was all well cooked. Evening meals consisted of soup followed by the choice of a fish dish, meat dish, cold meats. Salad, pudding was normally a choice of cakes or gateau. Once again all cooked well. The down side was the queuing if you went to the buffet at bussy times you would be waiting 10 to 15 minutes, but if your prepared to be patient really good value for money. On to the accommodation we stayed in a standered chalet, this was very clean with 2 comfortable single beds, good size bathroom, lot of very hot water and small flat screen TV quite adequate and all our needs where met. The evening entertainment was good with caberet artist on two of the three nights. The blue coats doing the third night. At 10.30 after the caberet ended there was more entertainment in the Queen Vic sports bar, overall opinion was we got what we paid for and we where happy with the accommodation, food and entertainment. As I said earlier excellent value for money, but if you don't like self service meals or you don't like to que and you want 5 star then it's not for you.
