“absolutely awful”
Reviewed 13 July 2011

stayed in this hotel with some friends, the reviews of the hotel were sort of mixed, but thought we would try it anyway. the hotel really needs a revamp! it is stuck in the 1970's. the room was discusting, there was quite a bit of mould in places and the room was just generally dirty. had a meal in the carvery, the staff that served me were rude and obviously did not want to be there! then we ended up waiting nearlly 50 mins for our food, and when it did arrive the chips were undercooked and everything else completely overcooked to a crisp. ended up leaving most of it and going into the town centre for something to eat. not only for that though but a bit of entertainment as the hotel itself was dull. next morning the breakfast was buffet breakfast, the eggs were dry, sausages very undercooked, and everything else lacked any taste, and seemed like it had been sat there for hours! i have stayed in many hotels, bnb's etc. and this is the worst i have come across, everything about the hotel was awful. i would never stay there again, and would not recommend it to anybody. i have stayed in cheaper hotels that have been like palaces compared to this one!

Room Tip: tip dont bother

I took my Mother to The Commodore for a 3 day birthday break. I chose the location in order that other family members could join us for lunch on her actual birthday. We all had a lovely lunch in the Lounge Bar. As Mother has difficulty with stairs, we stayed in the hotel's adjacent bungalow in a twin room which overlooked the lane, but did not have a sea view.

Although the decor was a little tired and dated, the room was spacious, had plenty of storage and the en-suite shower room had a plentiful supply of toiletries. The beds were very comfortable and had clean, crisp bedlinen. The generously stocked hospitality tray contained de-caff tea and sweeteners, as well as the usual assortment.

The staff throughout the Hotel were friendly, smiling and very helpful. It made such a change to see staff enjoying their work rather than finding everything a complete 'drag' and 'too much trouble'. I hope they maintain their happy demeanour.

The Hotel is only a 10 minute drive from Weston Super Mare, but is across the road from the shore of Sand Bay and a 5 minute walk from Weston Woods.

I intend returning to The Commodore, with my husband, next week in order that we may experience walking in the area and I look forward to another relaxing stay.

Room Tip: No sea view, but 22 in adjacent bungalow was quiet

Myself & partner had decided to meet some friends who had gone to Weston for a few days,we were traveling by motorbike so wanted safe parking away from the town so we could walk in & taxi back i had read about 15 reviews which were all good & decided to book.Once we arrived the sign for reception was covered by a bush so went in wrong entrance we walked through hotel & came to reception & rang bell & booked in.Lady at desk was polite & gave us keys for bungalow which was nice & clean but stuck in the 80s decor wise some nice pictures on wall would give it a bit of live.On night we walked into town along coastal path about 45 mins a nice walk recommended. next morning breakfast was a major disappointment we have stayed at hundreds of hotels touring around & this was the worst for a long time,it was buffet style everything overcooked & tasteless there were not any eggs left so partner asked for scrambled eggs they arrived dry as a bone & waitress said they had been microwaved also plates still had traces of food on them which was a put off,it was like a motorway breakfast from the 80s,all this & more was mentioned to receptionist when leaving & was told manager was not there at the time & we would be receiving feedback in due course. It was a shame as hotel is in great location but needs some TCL,but no excuse for breakfast & will not be in a rush to go back.

Lovely hotel. Position brilliant - tranquility, but only 10mins from Weston. Staff friendly.
Decor a bit tired but clean and well presented. Bottles of water in room an added, unexpected bonus. Thank you. We stayed in the bungalow, ground floor room. nice room, but no views. Having said that it was TRUE value for money. We simply wanted a couple of nights away, and we got that. we will return.
