“Superb hotel for a wedding”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Had our wedding here on Friday 30-5-14, it was absolutely superb. The whole day was lovely and a very big thank you to Jackie who organised everything for us from the beginning making our life so much easier and stress free. She knew exactly what we needed even when we were undecided. And thank you to Peter who not only organised the ceremony room but the room for the meal it was perfect. He made sure everything ran smoothly on the day too. We can not express how much we appreciated all your help and input for our special day. If anyone is thinking of a venue we would definitely recommended you go and have a look and chat to these special people. Nothing was ever a problem for them, they will work with you and make your day superb just as odours was.

My parents had stayed at this hotel on a few occasions in the past so we decided to give it another try as the location is right on the beach and great for our family break. This hotel is a very tired hotel and it certainly needs revamping .... We stayed in the room which had an awful damp feel about it - the beds you could feel the springs in the mattress and the sheets were not fresh. There were broken windows, damp in the ceilings where there had been leaks and the taps in the bathroom had no identifacation of hot and cold so my daughter thinking the cold tap is generally on the left put this on the wash her hands and it was hot !!! It has an overall musky and old feel to it. A real shame when the location is lovely set right by the beach and great for walking. Certainly wont be returning in a hurry.

Let me start off

This is NOT in the centre of Weston. It is about 10 minute drive to the next village.

I personally found that better. This stay cost me 46 pounds including breakfast.

I wasnt expecting alot. But Wow. We had a sea view. A lovely big double room. The sea is literally across the road. There is a bar/restraunt downstairs and the prices were very affordable.

We had a small problem with T.v. This was resolved very fast.

Breakfast was nice. Staff very efficient and welcoming.

This is a lovely hotel that with attention to detail could be fantastic.

The location is perfect for walkers and people who just want some down time.

With some decent marketing and a little clean of the windows down stairs ;-) This hotel and location could be a gold mine.

We will be back

We went here last year and really enjoyed our stay so we booked again and had another wonderful time. It's quiet location and beautiful surroundings make it a very relaxing hotel. The comfy rooms, friendly staff and great, good value food make it a great hotel. We will be going again.

I have stayed at this hotel for the last five months. Ample car parking at no extra cost. The food menu is varied and caters for most tastes. I have stayed in most of the rooms, some need updating. Rooms 1,2, 405 face the sea and and are all ensuite and spacious. I like room 7 as it faces the car park and less traffic noise. The beds are made up daily with fresh towels twice a week. Tea making in room with biscuits replaced daily. The staff are friendly and approachable. If you need anything just ask. During the five months of stay, I had a steak that was not edible, bedding that was thread bare, and needed to change rooms due to a leak. Staff rectified all of the above, and all was well. And just a five minute drive to Weston or catch the open top bus.

We have just had our wedding here.
Yes this is an older hotel so don't expect top end hotel chain standards.
But when you look past this the place is spotlessly clean and very well run
The food was great and well presented
The staff were fantastic with nothing to much trouble.
Highly recommend this place.

This was a very dissapointing stay. The staff didnt greet us and we were left loitering in a holding area between the front door and a restaurant. Once we finally got our keys we were escorted upstairs through the corridors of a very dated hotel. It immediately gave the impression we were staying in a hostel instead of a hotel. The room itslef was very dirty. There was mold and in the windows and in the bathroom, the room smelt of damp and was very unappealing. We opened the windows to air the room and decided to try their restaurant. What a mistake.
Although at first glance it seems a reasonable restaurant aside from the dated decor. However, it was more like the hills have eyes, no strangers allowed. A very unwelcoming and weird experience. Noone came to our table and we were left waiting for ages. We left the restaurant and left the hotel and will not be returning.

Room Tip: This is a very budget, dirty, appaling experience.

Dear Traveller282012

Thank you for your review. I would like to start by saying just how very surprised I was to read your comments regarding your recent stay. As you can read from many previous reviews the dedicated team at the hotel and the restaurant receive many positive comments and valued feedback and we feel our staff’s dedication to our guests is only surpassed by their friendly and welcoming nature. Please accept my apologies if this were not the case during your visit.

I would also like to assure you that your feedback is most welcome and your comments will be discussed with the hotel general manager for further investigation. However I would like to say that such feedback is a very rare and during our investigation any areas that fall below our own high standards will be addressed promptly to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all future guests.

We do hope that you will consider returning to the hotel so that we may offer you the hospitality that we pride ourselves on and I can assure you of an enjoyable visit. Thank you for choosing the Commodore Hotel.
